General Discussion / Re: Dlayo

I like the tough guys, but I think if they dealt some less damage, so that a player could survive a few hits (2 hits, the third could be leathal already) it would be more enjoyable.

I agree with Quq on the magic aspect. People with high magic go there to kill one dlayo after another in less than a minute just to loot the good stuff from them.
Also I think having them loot what they actually carry around is more realistic. Have em drop a few coins, or one or a few pieces of their armor, or the weapon or shield they actually carry :)

Oh and if possible, make em not give up stance when they move. It seems like they stop, stance, slash, stop attack and move again. Would be more of a challenge if they slashed while moving :)

The company was and is a family company. Over centuries they did not have any emplyees. Today Tunnel Digger is mainly a company of miners (and it is intended to RP the company as such as soon as we're able to) and not an remnant of an old clan (it never was a clan tho).
We also teach the making of and sell all kinds of tools (currently axes and shields, but as soon as tool smithing gets implemented we will do even that by mechanics).
Like I said in the initial post, there needs to be much work with the back story and current story, so please keep the comments coming and I'll try my best to add and change things :)

Once the the government was formed, the new laws forbade anyone from digging new tunnels in the Stone Labyrinths and therefore, by law, it was only possible to dig on the surface of the Dome. Nedemo had a hard time keeping the company alive. Brothers and Kran left the company and went their own ways. Centuries passed by and the Nedemos became a poor family. During that time they only kept one tunnel open, which ended in a cave. Their home.

The current Company does not dig any tunnels, at least not officially :D (and even if someone gets us to build a tunnel or even a tunnel system, it will have to be pretended that it is there, because game mechanics don't allow the carving of tunnels. I still suggest to not ask for 2 reasons, 1: the octarchy firbids it, 2: other people might ignore that you rp a tunnel there, which will raise only problems)
The last tunnel was made centuries ago, before the government was founded. According to the settings stonebreaker have made many tunnels in the stone labs - tho I am not claiming that any of them belong to us, just saying that centuries ago Sacids ancestors had have some there :)

Thanks, we seem to think alike, because just before i saw your reply i contacted xillix on irc :P
But however, in the initial post I stated that it will get edited every now and then because it is far from finished, so if anything has changed or will change it still leaves me enough room to make it fit the settings :)

Thanks for your input, Thom. I just checked with the history of Yliakum and it is only stated that it took a long time until the races arrived and that it took some generations of lemurs until the other races arrived. It is nothing known about how those portals worked, perhaps the people fell into stasis during the trip? IC neither Sacid, nor Chiroy know about their ancients from their homeworld. they only know their parents. Perhaps the Nedemos which live / lived in that cave have any memories or documents about it, but neither of the brothers knows about them. It's unknown if they are even still alive. IC'ly none of them knows vodul either. The history part of the company can therefore be seen as OOC knowledge, like the history of Yliakum on the main site (unless some of those information get written in IC books, or quests :))

If settings clearly states, that the individuals which left the homeworlds are not the same which arrived in yliakum, I will probably think about a different history part and make it fit the settings more. I will make a note about it and check settings regularly for updates :)

Tunnel Digger

  • History
On the StoneBreaker homeworld, mines were far below the surface and it was therefore necessary to dig out expansive tunnel systems into the stone. The Nedemos started a company dubbed Tunnel Digger and made good profit from it. Over the years their tunnel digging methods were nearly perfected, hardly any accidents happened in those tunnels. The company grew over the centuries and leadership was passed on to the sons of the Nedemos. When Vodul created the portals to Yliakum, the Tunnel Digger company was already in it's fifth generation and led by two brothers. Those two brothers had frequent disagreements and clashes until one of them decided to leave the StoneBreaker homeworld.

After arriving in Yliakum, he was astonished by the massive rocks surrounding the land. Years passed by until he decided to start the Tunnel Digger company in Yliakum. The fact that there were not yet many StoneBreaker brothers new land made it difficult for him. He was, however, able to hire a few other StoneBreaker men, as well as a few Kran, as they were way stronger and could easily remove the rubble. Their home.

Three generations later, a young Nedemo decided to leave the cave and travel to Hydlaa. Keeping with tradition, his father gave him leadership of the company, which now only existed in their memories. He worked hard, day and night, and was eventually able to purchase a small house. In time he found a wife and had two sons with her, Sacid and Chiroy. The two brothers could not have been more different. While Sacid spent most of his time with his father below the temple of Laanx, mining ores and gems for the local smiths and gemcutters, Chiroy was more of a mama's boy. Their mother made sure Chiroy got the best education they could afford with the few tria they had.

  • Chiroy
Chiroy learned to read and write and excelled in Mathematics. His father always said that it is a waste of time, but in the end Chiroy studied architecture and spent much time with the tunnel plans of his ancestors. He calls himself "Tunnel Architect" today.

  • Sacid
Sacid was never interested in going to school. He learned reading and writing from his brother in the evenings, but he spent the rest of the day in the ruins below the temple. In his youth he started speaking with a strange accent for fun, no one knows why or where it came from, but over the years it became a part of Sacid. Today this accent is the only way he speaks.

Sacid and Chiroy do, however, have one thing in common. Their parents made sure that they both learn Yliakum Common instead of StoneBreaker. Neither of them speak the language of their dwarven brothers.

  • A new beginning
Their father decided to give the brothers joint ownership of the company, but put Sacid in charge, and for years they worked hard. Sacid continued to mine ores and gems while Chiroy drew up plans for tunnels and studied the laws - unfortunately he was unable to find a loophole in the laws that would allow them to make new tunnels.

Years passed by and Sacid grew tired of mining. He stepped back and gave Chiroy the overall leadership. Sacid found an interest in smithing and learned from Harnquist, later from Trasok. He is now the "Tool Smith" of the company. In his constant search for supplies, he met Zzurlosch, a HammerWielder. At first they had nothing more than a supply contract, later a friendship developed and Sacid took the decision to hire him for the company. Zzurlosch is not only a friend, but also an official representative for the company.

  • Membership
In the original Tunnel Digger company, only StoneBreakers were allowed to work, and in Yliakum Kran were also hired. Today it is a dwarven company only. HammerWielders are hired but still a little frowned upon. Both Sacid and Chiroy think that HammerWielders don't make good miners. But they will invite them if they see potential. As a member of the company you will be given a few tasks to start off with. Those will include finding mines and training the skills required to be a miner. Other tasks may include learning the basics of metalwork. At first you will be a student, because no matter how much you already know, there is always something new to learn. Later you can specialize in a field of interest. Become an ore miner, a gem miner, a smith, or choose the educational way and become an architect or a teacher.

No matter for which way you decide, when acting in the name of the company you will behave politely. In your free time you are free to do whatever you want.

OOC
There's no ranking system in the company, you start as student and then specialize.
Current game mechanics make it kind of hard to live the company as intended. We can give you a little starting funds, but unlike a real company we cannot give you a regular salary.
This is a company, not a guild. We are not responsible for the actions of our members in their free time - Is your boss IRL responsible for what you do in your free time?
We require you to be polite with other people OOC'ly, if we get frequent reports about bad behavior about a member we will find IC reasons for why we no longer can employ this member and will remove them from the guild.
IC'ly you are free to RP whatever you want, but when you are acting for the company we require good behavior.
Cheating is forbidden, there are no exceptions. If you find a bug in the game you should report it on the bug tracker and don't use it to gain advantages. Using bugs and exploits will not only get you removed from the guild instantly, but also will get you reported to the GM's.
Tunnel Digger was created as a one man fun guild once, that is why the guild is still very small and lacks story here and there. The guild (company!) is not meant to become a big one. We won't massrecruit, we won't invite on OOC requests, if you want to join, find a member, or let us find you and RP your way in.
For the lack of background story, mistakes and whatever: I'm open to suggestions (NOT TO RANTS!) and will edit this thread every now and then.

Sacid

EDIT: Fixes for grmmar and typos, thanks to Eliseth

Well, it is not really a bug. The hair removal feature was implemented because of the hairs sticking out of the helms, tho the sack helm is/was a bug too (xillix added it accidently to trasoks shop some time ago) it is not meant to be a sack and i am sure in future versions the sack will get replaced by a real helm.

So the removal of the hair is IMHO not a bug, but works as expected, it's just that I'd like to undo the feature for my client only

General Discussion / Hairs removed by helm

Am not really sure where to put it, so if a mod thinks it should go somewhere else, please feel free to move it.

My char wears a sack-hat (a helm which doesn't have a mesh yet and therefor uses the sack model). IC'ly it is a sack, not a helm.
Acraig once has changed something so that the hairs get removed when wearing a helm, for most helms that is even ok, but for the sack it looks a bit strange, since the whole backhead is open.

I wonder now if it are just some changes in xml files, or in the code of the client.
However, I'd like to undo those changes for my client (i know, that others will still see through my head), so that for screenshots my char will have a complete head :)

Thanks, sacid
