Wish list / Re: Ability to Hide Items
« on: September 02, 2008, 06:09:43 pm »
Yeah, the way the server could keep track of where items are hidden is with coordinates. It could probably be programmed so no one sees any hidden items and only calls for  a hidden item when they "search" or "hide." When they do one of the two, it could send their coordinate info and then return whether or not it is possible to hide an item there, or if there is an item hidden there by checking a bank of coordinates. When searching for items, it could have some leeway.... I don't know how large a square coordinate is, but it could be set so you don't have to be RIGHT on top of the item, a few coordinates away, and you find the item if it's within them.

I think if there was just a time limit on how long you could hide an item, it would be fine. Say... one day or so. There should also be a max on how many each player can hide at a time. Possibly some other rules, too (set by the engine), about where you can and can't hide items. Maybe each character class can only hide items in certain maps, like their birth-place and then one XXroad map.

Wish list / Ability to Hide Items

I was thinking it would be really neat to be able to "hide" items you drop.
Your level in "item hiding" (or something better, like "stash" or something) and the item's size would determine how well you can hide the item.
After hiding it you can still see the item, but to anyone else that walks up it is invisible.
Along with this could be a "search" ability with a command (similar to the /sit and /dig commands). The same "item hiding" (or stash, etc.) level would determine how long you have to search (to return a message that you found something or didn't find anything) and the radius around your character that you can search at a time.

Each hide/search could take away mental stamina and maybe physical, too.
What do you think? I think it would be handy. You could even put a time limit on how long it will be hidden.... at least 20 minutes (could also take into account item size, possibly), maybe increasing with skill level.

General Discussion / Mortar and Pestle from Some NPC
« on: August 14, 2008, 07:38:11 pm »
I did a quest from [Some NPC]. [...] Anyway, the reward included a "mortar and pestle." It looks just like the ones that sit on tables in the kitchens and has slots and a "combine" button. I have two cookbooks and haven't seen anything about using the mortar and pestle in them.

Is it not currently used for anything or am I missing something? Does anyone else have one? I thought it may be for crushing/mixing herbs, so I gathered some and tried different combinations but nothing seemed to work. I also went around to many cooks and herbalists trying to get more quests but every one I have tried has no more quests.

Server Status / Re: Concept of european/NA servers

I'm sure all of you have experienced a delay in your HP registering a hit from an NPC or other character when in combat. I have been battling and NPC and waited till my HP was very low to run off so I could use spells and potions to heal, then go back and attack. Sometimes when I run off and I'm wellllllllll over the distance needed as to not be attacked by the NPC, I die. This is because of the NET LAG (high ping), not graphics lag (low frames per second). Servers closer to NA would benefit me, but then it wouldn't benefit people on the other side of the world. Multiple servers would just decrease the number of players you could interact with. So although this problem is evident, it may not be very easily fixed.
