In-Game Roleplay Events / Re: [EVENT] Octarch's Festival
« on: October 03, 2008, 04:27:23 am »
This year we will be introducing the Golden Mug Award for excellent salesmanship. It will be presented to the most successful merchant. There are a number of stalls built and awaiting for merchants to fill them and compete for this vaunted prize!
I'm kinda curious about this, since it was never mentioned after the end of the event... Who was the lucky winner of this award?

Just to add that the problems I reported here and here are the same that Bakin is experiencing.

I have different machines (Gentoo 32bit, 1Gb RAM, ATI) and (Debian 64bit, 2Gb RAM, Nvidia) and only the 32 bit machine is affected by the problem. The 64 bit works fine.

Petition submitted, I am awaiting for divine intervention now.
Thanks.

PS: I'm still stuck to Hydlaa though.

(edit)

Following your comment on FS#2016 I am requesting details on what else should I report in addition to the information I already submitted? This bug is persistent and I can reproduce it every time so what additional information would be helpful to track down the problem?

I already tried with different chars and the problem is still occurring. I tried Klyros and Stonebreaker, different resolutions...

As I said before, this problem started after the latest update. It was working fine before this. Already checked permissions and they are ok. So I'm out of hypothesis...

Just tried with a fresh install of 0.4.01, using the fixed psupdater and the problem persists.

I think I might have something corrupted that is not being detected by the updater in the Checkintegrity analysis.

I'm also getting this error now.
Code: [Select]
crystalspace.maploader.parse.image:
  Could not open image file 'sky-a.dds' on VFS!

crystalspace.maploader.parse.texture:
  Could not load texture 'sky-a.dds', using checkerboard instead
  [node: world,textures,texture(name=sky-a.dds)]
(0) : fatal error C9999: *** exception during compilation ***
Cg compiler terminated due to fatal error

At the moment I can't login because the game crashes as soon as it starts to load the map. I am stuck in the path between hydlaa east and ojaroad.

Linux 2.6.24, ATI X700, Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GH, 1GB RAM

All ATI users should have a look at this.

There are some serious problems with the latest ATI drivers, both in Windows and Linux (Mac also?).
With the latest ones I couldn't even start PS in window mode and had problems even before entering Yliakum... Login menus and character creation screen were garbled and text was misaligned..

After the latest update I can no longer enter the Magic Shop area when coming from Hydlaa, the client crashes all times.

The console reads:
Code: [Select]
planeshift.application.client:
  PSLoader: step 5: success
  PSLoader: step 6: success

crystalspace.maploader.parse.image:
  Could not open image file 'dirt01.dds' on VFS!

crystalspace.maploader.parse.texture:
  Could not load texture 'dirt01.dds', using checkerboard instead
  [node: world,textures,texture(name=dirt01.dds)]
(0) : fatal error C9999: *** exception during compilation ***
Cg compiler terminated due to fatal error

I tried running the CheckIntegrity option and psupdate.bin was detected as corrupted. It was downloaded, rechecked for integrity and no errors showed up. However there were no additional downloads and the problem still persists.

Is anyone else with the same problem? If so I will add this to the bugtracker.

Linux Specific Issues / Latest update breaks loading - linux32
« on: July 05, 2008, 03:09:54 pm »
After the latest update. As of today, 13:00 GMT. Planeshift failed to load if the preload models option is active.

Console error is:

crystalspace.genmeshloader.parse.unknownfactory:
  Specify the factory first!
  [node: library,meshfact(name=food#berries_red01a),params,material]

The loading bar hangs as soon as the error pops up in console.

Thanks for the quick reply.

One more thing, are these ebuilds still affected by the collision problems?

Linux Specific Issues / v4.01 client - linux 32 - fail preload models
« on: June 29, 2008, 05:55:15 pm »
I have the preload modules option active and with this, the game "hangs" halfway through the startup loading. This didn't happen with 4.00
The console error is:

Sun Jun 29 16:42:02 2008, <src/client/clientcachemanager.cpp:68 LoadNewFactory SEVERE>
Sun Jun 29 16:42:02 2008, Couldn't parse file /planeshift/shields/spiked_shield_04a.spr
Sun Jun 29 16:42:02 2008, <src/common/util/psxmlparser.cpp:294 ParseFile SEVERE>
Sun Jun 29 16:42:02 2008, Parse error in /planeshift/shields/spiked_shield_04a.spr: Not a binary CS document
Sun Jun 29 16:42:02 2008, Error reading end tag. (in: line 405:5; meshfact -> params)

And repeats itself ~10 times per second... generating huge logs in a matter of seconds...
If I disable the preload modules option, I can get to login screen but this error still pops up in the console.

I haven't tried connecting to the server (down at the moment) so I don't know if it will cause problems in game or not. Still the huge logs is a problem on itself.

PS: Would it be possible to have the errors printed to stderr instead of stdout?

4.01 is out... newer ebuilds needed?

Got some troubles here... just did the steps on the 1st post but have a collision blocking cel-ps.

Log follows:

Code: [Select]
* This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file
 * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * package dev-games/cel-ps-1.2-r3178 NOT merged
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 * /etc/env.d/90crystalspace
 * /opt/planeshift/crystalspace/etc/crystalspace-1.2/vfs.cfg
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * dev-games/crystalspace-ps-1.2-r29094
 * /etc/env.d/90crystalspace
 * /opt/planeshift/crystalspace/etc/crystalspace-1.2/vfs.cfg

And it fails to merge the package.
Any suggestion?
