Guilds Forum / Re: [GUILD] Bloodstone Brethren
« on: February 06, 2009, 01:13:14 am »
Our beloved souvereign Ulfer, being too ill to lead our guild, has decided to retreat to a more healthy environment in hopes of regaining his strength.
Ulfer has transferred the souvereignty to elder Baruden, who will lead our guild from this day on.

We thank Ulfer for all the good work he has done in making our guild what it is today, and hope he will someday recover enough to join us again.

In-Game Roleplay Events / Re: Guildhouse Auction
« on: December 19, 2008, 04:02:31 am »
The last auctions took place a good while back and since then many guilds have been saving up. We expect the guildhouses to be sold for high amounts of trias.
So why set a minimum price at all?
And even when a house gets sold for 1.6 million, what's the problem with that? It's how the market works, and at least every guild will have a chance to take part in the auctions.
With these reserve prices, I wouldn't be surprised if half of the houses won't be sold at all.

Stand out from the crowd? That's about the only thing we might be a little bit envious of you taller people.
Apart from that, we've got all the advantages: we're closer to the ores, in combat we can launch a frontal attack on the kneecaps while ducking all counterattacks... need I say more?
As for the supposed rivalry between  Hammers and Stones - that's internal, a friendly family fued if you want (but not even that), no problem at all. Please don't make a problem where there isn't one.

Of course there is a bit of friendly rivalry between stonebreakers and hammerwielders. Stonebreakers tend to be the better miners and crafters. while hammerwielders are the better fighters, so each clan takes pride in trying to outperform the other clan in their field of excellence. But in the end, they always will have a beer together, and call eachother brodr, because that's what they are: brodrs!

Wish list / Re: Weapons Repair

I don't think we should compicate it by combining the weapon/armour repair skills with blacksmith or leather working. Reaching a certain minimum level to be able to repair a certain type of weapon or armour would also mean you have mastered the use of the particular tools needed.
The point is, that those specialized tools are not part of a repair kit, because they are too heavy or large. In case of weapon repair, you might also be in need of a forge. But not to complicate matters too far, my suggestion is that you use the anvil, which means you actually use anyting in the smithy that you need for this particular repair work. The repair kit contains replacement parts, a small whetstone, stuff like that. Good enough for "first aid" repairs in the field, but for a good job you need the operating theatre (smithy).

There are a number of activities in PS that are quite boring, like mining, smelting, crafting, and repairing your weapons and armour.
So we could make it more fun by adding arcade-like mini-games? I'm with Mythryndel: don't! If I want to play tetris, I can do that anytime and anywhere I want.
I actually like these "time-outs": they give me an opportunity to devote more attention to guildchat, or to have some private converstation in tells. Or do something else entirely.

Getting back to the original post: how could we make weapon/armour repair more realistic?
I agree there should be a chance of failure or of ruining your weapon/armour. I would also like to add the idea that you ought to have special tools (outside the repair kit) to repair your equipment. With just a repair kit, you should not be able to fully repair your weapon/armour, unless you had access to an anvil. So with a repair kit in one hand, your battle axe in the other, using an anvil, you would have a chance of fully repairing that axe. Without the anvil, it would take you longer, you would repair less damage, and you'd have a bigger chance of ruining your axe.

I think factions are something like your reputation.
Having a lot of points in different factions (positive or negative) means you've been around much. People know you, or have heard of you.
Obviously, only the more extreme faction scores should be visible: "everybody" knows you've got a good/bad standing with rats/Laanx/whatever...
