well, if that was the case, would that not slow down my entire computer(which it does not, only the window for planeshift, i move the cursor outside of that window, everything else is fine). and even if that is the case, then what ARE the minimum requirements for planeshift?

I did read what you said. And you also mentioned that maybe things were not updated. I was simply eliminating that as a possibility. Also, as I said, Planeshift worked perfectly fine in version 0.4.00, and then not at all really in version 0.4.0.1. How can it stop working altogether from one version to the very next version?

Make sure you are careful with the icepack thing, if your comp ends up sitting in a puddle of water, that is not good for it(can cause damage). I believe that you can buy cooling pad things that you set your laptop on and it will cool your laptop with extra fans and heatsinks and such. These things can also be bought for either Mac or PC laptops. As far as the MacBooks go, I have heard of several examples before of overheating, and supposedly it was a problem with the board. Even if your MacBook is no longer under warranty, you may still be able to have it fixed without breaking your wallet. I would look into that a little more.

Hey, wanted to update here on this. Still having problems, but now, I cannot even start Planeshift. Or really, I can, and login, but then when I select my character and click join, Planeshift starts to load, and then crashes. This happened every time I tried it. Anyhow, don't know if it will help, but I bought a newer video card and more ram. Maybe that will help the situation. I will post on here again when I get them to say whether or not it worked.

except i did update everything in Planeshift, and now, everytime I run psupdater, it says that there are no more available updates. So that part is up to date. I looked for any kind of graphics drivers update, and the only thing I found is this firmware update for several different graphics cards, including mine. I don't know if I needed it, but I installed it anyhow, with no effect on Planeshift. Furthermore, Planeshift worked perfectly fine with version 0.4.00(with the exception of some occasional lag, or persistent lag in certain areas like bd). And now, with version 0.4.01, the graphics do not work at all. Anyhow, if anyone has any other suggestions, I would be glad to humor them. I'm willing to try almost anything, short of buying a new system.

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Help!! Huge Graphics Problems

Looking for a little help here. I don't have if this is more my computer, or the graphics from the client, or what. But I did not have this problem before the update to the current version(0.4.01), and now that I have updated to that version, now I do have these problems. While in game, it looks really crappy in general. More specifically, most everything looks dotted and staticky, or as I would describe it, like really bad tv reception using an antenna. Also, the game runs much more slowly, and in general, does not seem to work very well. Any help with this would be appreciated. Following are links to screenshots that I took, hosted via Photobucket, and in the screenshot of the first one, there is a black line, which I am pretty sure was not there in game, when I took the screenshot, so pay no mind to that, but that first screenshot is also the one where you can see best the bad tv reception effect. And also, if you read the descriptions to the pictures, I put more info there as well, I think I included all of the info in this post, but just to be sure:

Also, here is a link to the album itself:

Also, the computer that I am using is a PowerMac G4 933 MHz PPC with 1.12 GB SDRAM, and an Nvidia GeForce4 MX video card with 64 MB of video RAM. Also to note, I have searched through the forums, and tried everything I could find, including disabling texture compression, and including the workaround for the ATIX1600 graphics cards, even though I do not have that card. Any other help here would be greatly appreciated, maybe there was a thread that I missed with a solution to this problem. Anyhow, I would really love to get this fixed as soon as possible.
