Wish list / Re: Recycling Loot

I think that to start off with the system should be simple.  Disassembly by NPC blacksmiths for a fee.  You get a weapon kit back.  You work it back through the process to a handle and blade, then do what you what you normally do with those items.  This would also allow more freedom in crafting with the ability to work anything backward through the steps.  Bonus, an improvement to the "reality" of the game.

So imagine the above integrated and debugged.  Working fine, considered very stable.  /me grins

Next, implement the system for another job.  Lets say enchanting.  I do not know anything about it so I will not make myself look stupid.

Next imagine the enchanting and weapon subsystems are implemented, debugged, and at stable release.  Now we combine them.  An enchanted weapon cannot be disassembled without some risk.  After all, the enchantment was on a complete weapon so who knows what will happen when the mass that holds it together is broken.  Now we need an enchanter(ess) to remove the enchantment first.  In the process the magic user gains xp, or maybe can learn an enchantment that only exists on looted items.

An exciting idea, but it should begin simply I think.  Being able to reverse the crafting (or any profession's) process would be a wonderful addition I think.

Phinneas walks up and begins speaking, sounding calm on the surface, but you can hear a note of urgency in his tone.
I am just returning from an expedition in the sewers with a group of concerned citizens.  The first thing we found was the remnants of what appeard to have been some sort of camp.  As we moved deeper into the sewers, we could hear unusual clicking and croaking sounds.

I was attacked.  It happened so fast I had no time to react.  All  I saw was a glimpse of a reptillian tail. I lay on the floor, dying, but my companions healed me.   Shortly after that, it grabbed Santaris.  We had to beat if off of him.  Again, no one saw anything of the creature except a flash of tail.  Gohra was attacked when he went into the waters but he managed to escape.  Then, we were all attacked.  No one could see the monster.  All we could hear were the clicking and croaking sounds.  It knocked us to the ground, into the water, all around.  Fire was the only way to make it stop!  It tried to drag off Hangatyr after that, and almost succeeded.  Once again, we had to use fire to stop it.

We decided to see if we could find its nest so we went to one of the water filled rooms to look.  It was very hard to see in that filthy water.  We were attacked again and again by something with a great number of small teeth.  Whether it was one thing or a multitude, we know not.  We were all bitten, but no one was killed.  After a time, it left, and all was quiet.

Phinneas voice lowers, and you can hear the edge of fear in it.
It was playing with us.  Testing us, seeing what we would do.  It could have killed us anytime it wanted to but it did not.

Phinneas looks around, spreading his hands, as he says;
Why?  Why did it not kill us?  What does it want?  Are we merely playthings for it?

Phinneas voice deepens, becomes more confident, with a note of resolve;
We must figure out how to beat this thing.  We cannot let it slaughter our citizens, our women and children.

Phinneas pounds one mailed fist into the other, looks into the faces of the crowd once more, then heads towards the library to see what knowledge of this beast may lie there.
