Alright, thanks. I'll continue wandering aimlessly until I find something interesting XP

I've been wandering aimlessly for a little while and I ran into a gorilla-ish thing with spikes at the end of its arms (an Ulbernaut), but when I tried to attack it, nothing happened. (If it matters, I have no weapons equipped.)
I've tried deselecting and selecting, stopping and restarting the attack, changing my stance, and relaunching the client. None of that worked.
I don't know if it's only this creature or everything, but the point is, the problem is there.

One would think that a game with monsters to fight, even when fighting is not the entire point of the game, would at least allow a player to attack more than once or twice.
When I caught this in the tutorial thing, the planeshift client froze (but the music kept playing) and I couldn't do anything other than a hard reboot because it was running fullscreen. (A mistake I will not make again, I now run it in an 800x600 window so I can at least wait for it to crash.)

I've tried everything I've found in the forums, everything I can think of from past experience, and now I figure I may as well ask about this annoyance. I know the best thing to do is wait, but problems don't get fixed if the developers don't know about them.

yeah... I don't feel stupid now... but this thing is as simple as Windows >.>;;

Thanks for the help, and sorry for being rude ^^;

There is no options menu or button and the only similar thing I can find is pssetup, but that doesn't have anything that looks like it would help -.-

I think the main purpose of this thread was to say that the "fix" is crap. It doesn't work.

But hey, if someone could give me instructions that might actually help me correct this error, that'd be great ^^

I used this page – http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=31746.0 – that claims to fix the ignoring of ctrl+click. However, on my computer (running OS X 10.5.4), controls.xml and mouse.xml do not, by default, exist within /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/PlaneShift/options. I used TextEdit to create xml documents, thinking that, though the game code is poor enough to necessitate this fix, it might be good enough to detect and read new documents that are, supposedly, but not actually, placed there during installation.

Guess what happened.

With the new files, NPC selection is impossible. A normal left click does not select an NPC (it is completely ignored), and a second click moves my character to the opposite side of said NPC. Surprisingly enough, ctrl+click yields no better results.

Never in all the time I have been using computers, even old versions of Windows, have I seen something this terrible. Just so any reader knows, the link I initially provided is the same link as I was given in the email telling me that this problem is not a bug, but actually just poor coding. (Those are not the words in the email, those are my own words giving an accurate summary.)

I would not be surprised if this thread is locked for some stupid reason or another. I can wait the years it will take for PlaneShift to be a game written with skill on par with that of Halo Trial.
