Linux Specific Issues / Re: Installer not running - Archlinux
« on: May 15, 2014, 12:57:01 am »
Yes, it just died quietly.  And yes I have the 64 bit version of Archlinux, just double checked with uname -a to make sure that I didn't do my install a couple months ago incorrectly.

Edit:  It's running now.  How strange.  I think all I did was reboot my computer since I tried yesterday.

Linux Specific Issues / [solved]Installer not running - Archlinux
« on: May 14, 2014, 08:25:34 pm »
I made the downloaded file an executable (chmod +x).  Then I tried to run the installer (./PlaneShift-v0.6.1-x64.run) and it just gave me the next line in the console.  No errors were shown.  Any clue what might be going on or what steps I can take to troubleshoot it?

Thanks!

Not dead.  Just badly wounded.  They are trying to nurture it's wounds right now, so please keep checking back every once and a while for it to be fully healed.  If only we had some elven servers with healing powers.

Who likes my symbolism, if you can call it that.  Lol, it's more whatever giving human characteristics to a non-human form thing.  I was bad at literature.  :P

Lol, I am still laughing at this.  My reason for not leaving this site is because I am trying to get to know the planeshift members since I am new.  However I think I am getting a strange side of them, not there usual.  So I might take you up on your offer.

ahhh, linux would probably run it decently with 512 mb's.  Vista wouldn't run it well unless it had 8 gb.  The regular ubuntu also seems pretty buggy though, and I imagine the server version is built much better to handle stuff like a game server than a regular version of linux.

Seriously though, reading through the posts since I last came I am rolling on the ground laughing.  Thanks for making this extremely hysterical waiting for the server to come back.  :P

Seeing how swell the client runs on windows vista though, I imagine the server runs pretty well too.  Linux is just an addition!  Of course, I do have 4 gb of ram....  Well, 3 since only 3 works with vista 32 bit.

I don't think that the hard drive is necessarily the problem.  The hard drive is an easy failure to explain, an I believe we would have been told if it was that rather than just a failure.

Happy Birthday to you and your mother!

Hmmm... So I guess this thread will come back alive in May.  Lol!

Mine has been ok.  I have had lots of barbacued things.  I had to go into work and work a full day though.  That was kind of annoying.

Lets be nice here and not cause any problems for the mods.  If he wants to go play runescape instead of chill with us while we wait this out let him and just ignore him.

Hmmm.....  Hardware failure is sooooo annoying.  Best of luck to the planeshift team as always.  Hopefully you guys can sort this out quickly if not you still have my full support though.  I would wait forever and still support you guys for your awesome free game.

How is everyone's labor day?  That is, if you celebrate it.

This is a funny 'coincidence'... Just today my school's server went down, along with our power. Perhaps all the servers of the world will go down, one by one! Beware! It's a conspiracy! Ahh! :o

Hmmm...  My server and my works server went down a couple of weeks ago.  So we already passed it.  But this is kind of strange.  Or not since servers go down all the time.

Lol, they can take labor day if they want. :P  At least the Planeshift team.  Seriously.  Enjoy this strange American Holiday about working and don't work.  Lol.

Edit: They have a map somewhere, I don't remember where.  Some are in the US of A, and some are over elsewhere in the world.  I think from what I remember that more are elsewhere.  It doesn't matter though, as they don't really have the server in front of them to do anything about it.  It's a server that's location has been stated several times, which is not in the US.  So yeah, I think they will get to it today, once the time is right.  Lol, it's still Sunday for me though, so yeah....

IF they have to use that backup your account will be lost.  But only having a week on there won't take long to catch up right?

My account is way old, but my character was started right before the crash or whatever we want to call it.  A week wouldn't take long to catch up to where you were.  Plus, everyone will be behind, not just you.  Nothing big.

Nice site!  Would you mind giving me a list of all the drupal plugins you used?
