Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / looking for the "Idiot Guide to Installing"

I have downloaded the game.
Had the mising .dll file, did the recommended solution.
Fixed the updater.
Downloaded the Md5sum (whatever it is called).

Ran the updater (file a while).
Started the game... nothing happens.

Something I am missing?
