Ok, I fixed a lot of the problems I was having by uninstalling planeshift and deleting all the directories and leftover files. No more error saving config, no more X errors, and the updater runs fine. I can now log in, create a character, etc.

But the screen is still flashing. Its not flashing as much, but its still doing it.

I don't use compiz to install things, and I don't think i have any aptitude or updater things running.

I get an error when I run the updater that I didn't notice before, it says something to the effect of no mirrors can be found. I don't know the exact message, I'll add it in when I'm back on my linux partition (I'm installing planeshift on windows now)

Edit: the error message is: There are no active mirrors! Please check the forums for more info and help!

I just installed planeshift, downloaded the fixed updater, and updated the game, but for some reason the game flashes black. I can still see the game, and I can move my mouse/press keys and whatnot, but the graphics problem makes the game unplayable. Whenever I try to edit any of the settings with pssetup, I get an "error saving configuration" message, and it doesn't seem to save my settings, so I don't know if messing with any of the graphics settings would help.

I'm using ubuntu hardy, and I get a couple of errors in the terminal when I run the game. I don't think they're related, but here they are anyway:

Edit: sorry, I forgot to mention my graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon X2300. I'll try to update the drivers, but I have absolutely no idea how to do that in ubuntu.
