Shouldn't they be able to erase it? If they wear a cloak or change their appearance or something, so no one recognizes them, how would they be revered with thieves and still hated by guards?

I'm sure a kind of cloak could be implemented to hide identity, reducing (or raising) all factions to 0 and hiding a player's name. Myself and a few others considered this... But still a perm erase? No, when the cloak comes off a convict is a convict, and a hero is a hero.

Well it can be reduced to a lot simpler of a suggestion, then. There's a discard option in each character's questbook - can we get that to work for both finished/non-finished quests? And as for faction points, maybe we can simply get a discard option for those too. We're able to highlight the name of the faction, so a discard feature for that shouldn't be too hard, which could also be used when you highlight a skill in case you decide you don't want that +2 shield handling level you got from character creation so long ago.

People make mistakes, but with faction points, these mistakes stick - permanently.
Having the ability to wipe the slate clean so to speak... Bad idea if you ask me, villains would simply be able to erase what they've done, for example.

You can't un do what has been done in real life, you can change your ways but not anything else.

Yes everything is ic except what is put in []... But I must warn you, the server is acting 'interestingly' lately, expect plenty of lag and crashed, you will likely have trouble with the updater, info on that is in the technical help BEFORE entering game, if you need a direct link... well what the hell.

Gotta love Caarrie, anywho welcome and more questions can be directed to the irc channel, info on the main site.

Edit: as a side note if you already don't know the game is in its beta stages so expect a lot more to be implemented and be featured in planeshift in the near and distant future.

Wish list / Re: NPC's that follow set routes

Yes, I believe this was tested once or twice, and not just on harnquist - if my memory banks are correct... The problem was many npcs would seemingly noclip through the floor. We had a very troublesome time where almost all the npcs were... heh... 'From a land down under.'  ;D

A good idea the devs might want to consider that I figured I would mention here is perhaps scripting more then one waypoint for a selected npc. So the npc has a 'selection' so to speak of waypoints he or she may take, just to spice things up, and make hydlaa(and obviously the rest of yliakum) look a bit more busy.

In your planeshift folder, theres a file named updaterinfo.xml just open that in notepad the first line should have the false bit which needs to be replaced with 'true'

A small mistake was made when making the installers. The updater will consider itself disabled unless you open the updaterinfo.xml file and change the top line to be "true" instead of "false".

Sorry for the inconvenience
I get the same error. After installing the game and attempting to open the client, I get the error saying OpenAL32.dll wasn't found, and the client closes.

Read other threads. I fixed the XML file and am running the updater now..so hopefully after all is said and done I'll be able to play. If not..I shall return.

Editing the XML file and running the updater fixes the OpenAL32.dll problem.

After editing the XML file try running the updater directly from the updater program in your planeshift program folder: psupdater_static

It isn't a calendar, but basically the same idea you mentioned: http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=32769.0 (This thread also links to threads on the message board that can be used to post ''hear ye hear ye'' information about an upcoming event or anything else.)

Also that section of the forum is a way people can announce events ICly, such as a call to arms.

I personally don't get why it is sooooo terrible for people to show up for OOC reasons.

Forgive me for barging in, and correct me if I am wrong... But showing up for ooc reasons punches plot holes in the event. A short example, perhaps:

An event is announced on these message boards that there is going to be a GM event in Ojaveda regarding a rogue uprising. In rp, no one will know of the uprising until it happens, because its secret. Characters who were say, planning on making a trip to the bronze doors, or perhaps needed to pick up a weapon at Hydlaa suddenly have a change of heart saying "Hmm I want to go to oja and hang out for a bit"

For what appears to be no apparent reason, they are motivated by ooc reasons to drop rp in hope they might get some shiny stuff at the event. This means all over yliakum, suddenly people flock to ojaveda, ironically right before the rogues start their revolt. This creates what I like to call "Plot holes" Or anomalies, unexplained events that technically shouldn't happen.

Of course you make a good point, if the game masters could organize events in every major city we wouldn't have this issue would we? Well the problem there is that it takes a battalion of game masters to over-see a single event, to make sure everything runs smoothly, and much of the time a battalion of game masters are not available. This means that the staff would not be able to support such events, well... perhaps once in a blue moon, but not as often as players would like.

Hope this makes some sense.  ;)

This is just my personal opinion and may have fixed a part of your pre install problem, but I find Utorrent to be far superior then Bittorrent. I have had similar problems that you faced when using Bitorrent, but I haven't had that problem on Utorrent. - Thats just my own two cents there.

remember ps is not a finished game and not all that reply to posts are devs, for instance i am not a dev but i am on the staff as an official "tester"

ps will take a long time to get to the point that all can use it with little to no problems. We have had issues recently with the server that will affect the torrent tracker.

The torrent appears to be in order at the moment, although I hear as such. Seeding is fine, or at least appears to be.

Wait, how do you get tired mentally?

Someone has never done hours of math homework on end.  ;)
