Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Fix For MacOSX Update (5.5)
« on: December 15, 2010, 07:40:26 pm »
if you've used tools to slim down libraries, or changed the install in order to not install 32bit libraries we don't support your os. check this with file and the path you've there if it doesn't say i386 then you need to find a replacement for the slimmed down library

Fixed! :) Probably I did something with the libraries when I tried to install Crystal Space :-\
I've reinstalled X11 from the cd and everything is fine now.
Thank you weltall!

If you've opened up PSLaunch in your PS folder, under Applications,  clicked "YES" when prompted to update, then watched in delightful glee as your download began, only to have it quit before ending, or just as it ended, then you've had the same issue as me :)

Same here, except the smiley :(
After that, pslaunch doesn't open, i get an error message saying that the application doesn't work with this version of osx and the following report:

I've re-downloaded the game but nothing changed. Looks like the update did something to that dylib-thing. Now what?

You need to have admin rights to update. Remember to move Planeshift in the Applications folder.

General Discussion / Re: PlaneShift reviews in magazines - contribute!

Not sure it helps, anyway I've searched for Planeshift on Sciencedirect and found these results (despite my academic access I wasn't able to read the contents so I can't tell what's inside but hey, it's peer-reviewed stuff!):

1.
Free/Open Source Software Development: Recent Research Results and Methods
Advances in Computers, Volume 69, 2007, Pages 243-295
Walt Scacchi

2.
Prototyping
Game Design Workshop (Second Edition), 2008, Pages 175-212
Tracy Fullerton, Christopher Swain

Oh, there are also some results on Google Books, but anyone can search there :)

(I really hope PS will get its wiki page back: I found it that way)

[EDIT: I've just discovered anyone can search on Sciencedirect too :-[: http://www.sciencedirect.com/ - well, it's an input anyway]

Hi, maybe you've already solved it, if not:

1) Account validation: it's a known issue the devs are trying to solve; afaik, the only solution is to create another account with a different email address.

2) (This is how things work for me in 10.6) To delete software, you need to run osx as admin: just drag the Planeshift folder to the trash (it may ask to enter your password). There could be another Planeshift folder in <user>/Library/Application support, delete it and you're done.

If this doesn't work, make sure you've placed Planeshift in your Applications folder and that you have admin access for it (right-click on the Planeshift folder, select 'get info' and in the new window set the permissions to 'read and write'). At this point you should be able to trash the PS folder without restrictions or, if you decide to make a second attempt, to play the game.

Hope it helps.

Not all animals have <that thing>. I have the proof:

@Earowo: good start! I'd suggest you to do many sketches in different angles and different positions, adding and removing details. Also, drawing the spine (a line of little balls of increasing and decreasing size - you'll erase it later) will improve the harmony and the realism of the back. And if you see something that just looks strange, maybe the artist's best friend could lend you a hand. Good work :)

True, Brado doesn't seem to accept any logical answer, but he can't help you anyway and skipping this part doesn't block the quest. I'd suggest you to talk with other NPCs, maybe in the warehouse...  ;)
