Hello

Do you use the 'Portals' where it is possible (The signposts)? For the crashing of your char on entering the game I think a move of your char by a gm should at least enable you to enter the game again.

Sen

I don't know about the portals or how to use them.  I had to delete my character and start again, but the new character I created won't load now - the program crashes as before.  I'm thinking of uninstalling the program and starting from scratch.  Thanks for the input, though.

Disable sound in pssetup and report back.

i dont think that will have any effect due to the fact that the sound plugin is properly started already.

The sound was already off.  Any other possibilities?

which exact fixes have you tried? also please post in the mac section for mac related issues.

My response, posted a few days ago as an addendum:  "Last week a GM gave me instructions on modifying the psupdater with a repair line that uploaded any missing maps and it seemed to upload just fine, but it didn't fix the crashes.  Another GM suggested that I turn off the Vertex Buffer, which I did and which also had no effect on stopping the crashes.  Yesterday, Baradar Weresay suggested I reduce my FPS setting and then he escorted me into the sewers where the program had crashed on previous attempts.  Surprisingly, I was able to enter the sewers without a problem and I thought I'd found the fix - until this morning, that is.  Back to the drawing board and I'm open for suggestions."

I really, really don't want to lose my current character; but it seems I have no choice at this point.  My character won't load at all, the program crashes immediately upon choosing him.  I tried creating a secondary character, and the program crashes again when I try to enter Yliakum.  It's got to be a minor problem because I haven't seen any posts that are similar or any resolution that relates to this problem.  Caarrie?  Someone?  Suggestions?

My character can't leave Hydlaa without the program crashing.  It happens on the roads out of the Bronze Door and East Door and also in the sewers.  The system goes to the loading scenario screen and then goes black and up comes my desktop.  I read all the postings and there seem to be one or two folks with similar problems, but I've yet to read a solution.  This is the only major problem I've come across so far, after two weeks of playing.

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Program crashes when loading new scenarios
« on: February 24, 2009, 01:08:03 am »
System:  Mac G5 Power PC; 1.8 GHz dual processors; 3 GB RAM; GeForce FX 5200 video card by NVidia w/64 MB VRAM

The only problem I'm having is that the program crashes every time I try to leave Hydlaa, either on the path beyond the Bronze Doors, or the Eastern Gate, or the sewers.  As soon as the loading screen appears for the new scenario, the screen goes dark and I'm back at my desktop.  No error message, nothing.  If I try to re-login the program tells me that I'm already logged in and to wait for thirty seconds before trying again.  Sometimes my character reloads at the point where the system crashed and sometimes it just doesn't load at all and keeps crashing.  I've chatted with a couple of GMs and have tried a number of "fixes" that did nothing to correct the problem.  I'd really like to explore, but I seem to be trapped in Hydlaa.  Can someone help me, please?

Thanks to Baradar W., a very helpful Kran, this problem has been solved.  Here is the solution for others:  Your FPS rate is probably too high.  While in game, go to the options icon, then "details" and look for the FPS rate on the lower portion of the window.  Whatever the number (mine was 71) change it to 60.  Once I had done that I was able to go into the sewers without the program crashing.  I have not checked the other exits from Hydlaa yet, but something tells me that this hurdle has been crossed and everything should run normally.  I'll report on the that later.

Ok, I tried exiting Hydlaa via the Bronze Gate this morning and the program crashed as before.  I double-checked my FPS setting and found that it was back to 71, so I changed it to 60, saved the setting and tried again.  Same result:  program crashed.  I will keep experimenting by reducing the FPS even further and repeat my attempts to exit Hydlaa.  Any additional suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Last week a GM gave me instructions on modifying the psupdater with a repair line that uploaded any missing maps and it seemed to upload just fine, but it didn't fix the crashes. Back to the drawing board and I'm open for suggestions.

Now I can't load my character at all, after experiencing yet another crash on the road outside the Bronze Gates.  I wish someone would look at this problem as I'm loosing patience.  I don't want to lose my character as he was given a very good sword by Baradar.  Anyone out there?  I can't proceed without some help, please!
