Such a possibly serious issue should not be reported in the forum only, developers don't read every post here immediately (I missed it the first time as well). But the bugtracker is a recommended place, because there its solution will be tracked. I will try to check your issue ... little patience, please.
__

I just tested it with the Windows 32-bit client version 0.5.9.1, and I could select life events, add them and remove them vice versa with the arrow buttons. Which client do you use, and which resolution for the game window (width×height)?

Bugtracker task: PS#5663

Eh, that awkward moment you forgot about the bugtracker.

I use the Mac OSX 0.5.9.1 client, although pslaunch claims I am using client 0.5.9.2? Typo maybe? I keep the game window at 800x600.

I guess if no one knows how to fix this I'll just choose some random events and not mention them in-game. Hopefully I'll be in-game by next week after finals are over :)

Alright so after working around the last problem, I'm so close to finishing just making my character. Unfortunately when I came to the page where you choose your life events, I couldn't select any of them. I would highlight the one I want and tried clicking the arrows that allow me to choose it, but it wouldn't do anything. I tried selecting different events, clicking directly on the event with the mouse, and tried every button on the keyboard (literally just sliding my finger down a row of keys). The randomizing button works, but I can't delete the items so I can't use the backwards arrow either. So I tend to end up with events I don't want or a negative cp.

Appreciate the help =)

it may be a good idea to clear the shadercache after changing that setting - from my experience not doing so and changing that setting may cause crashes/corrupt the cached shaders

Oh I see, now everything loads fine (albeit with some lag but I'll live with that). Thanks for the help guys :)

You could try disabling GLSL.

Tried this and it crashed the client before it could finish loading. Deleted the line and reopened the client...may have made it worse?

Perhaps this will help? It's a big chart that compares graphic drivers and computer software combinations against various features of OpenGL. Someone with knowledge about how PS uses the OpenGL could take a look at it and compare the X3100 drivers. I apologize if I think wrong.
https://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/opengl/capabilities/GLInfo_1068.html

And thanks for the wibbles LigH, didn't mean to sound kinda pushy. Just eager to get back into the game :)

@Moja, are your graphic drivers different or the same? Might narrow the problem down unless this happens to be a very specific issue to my computer. Also mine is just a plain MacBook that's two years old. Hope that's not a factor though, not really willing to go buy a new computer heh.

Hmm, perhaps I should've posted this in the topic about bugs before entering the game? I noticed not many of the support people use Mac so I guessed it's hard to solve something like this.

Here's what I meant when I said the models would load but not the textures. I realize that could be a bit of an unclear statement. Linked to save space.

Don't mind me, it's only been a year since I've last touched Planeshift.  :whistling:

Alright alright, so I've kinda missed Planeshift. Want to give it another shot just for fun really. Miss all the roleplaying.

Of course I don't get in that easily. Downloaded a fresh client off the site and onto my Macbook. Just letting you know I very recently just updated it to 10.6. Everything is going pretty smoothly until I come to character creation. I started clicking on the different races and all the models appear, but without textures! I have gone through the pslaunch and lowered most of the settings, but that seemed to make it worsen as only a few parts of the models were visible. Higher settings make the models visible but they are completely smooth and are some random colors (blue, green, pink). I read in the readme file about some computers having problems with texture compressions but when I went to edit the file, it seems to be locked on readme only so I can't edit it. Not sure if it has to do with my problem though.

I have GMA X3100 so that shouldn't be the problem.

I appreciate all the help that can be given as I am eager to restart my adventures in Planeshift :) Tinwei is coming back of course! Oh and hi to any old friends and acquaintances out there and greetings to everyone new!

Talad banned geoni from the forums a long while back, soooooooo......

590MB is not really much larger than it was a couple years ago, smaller than your average movie rip, but if you are not really interested in the new areas, new skills, and new graphics then you are not.

It seems what I said was misinterpreted. When I last played this game (around 5.2-5.3), my computer could barely handle the graphics. Every time I moved I experienced extreme lag. Especially with all the new areas being added, I don't think my drivers could take it. Size I could care less about. I can just trash a bunch of old things. Oh and by the way, I found the name "Poopbaggin" very amusing after I clicked that link.  :D

Once the HTTP mirrors are available (and our German ones are among the first, just a day after the torrent was available), you can as well download it with your usual web browser.

Germans ftw! Though I am bothered they got the link first :P

Heheheh... You feel old? I started playing PlaneShift back in 2005, when it was the 0.3 Crystal Blue release. Like you though, I stopped playing after a couple years. Re-downloading it a couple months ago, I was amazed at how far the game has come and I've once again become addicted. \\o//
Xirius

XD I admit I've been silently watching the game progress throughout the year, but it simply just isn't the game for me anymore. I love the setting and I love to roleplay; but, I've completely parted from this game.

OMG you noob!  :o wut are you doing here?!

What am I doing here??? What are YOU still doing here??? I get bored and I check on old stuff heh. Nice to see a name I know though. I've yet to find Geoni and Vayl among the interwebs...

It's really been 2 years since I've found this? Sheesh!

I was considering redownloading PS to see if I could get back into it; but after seeing you guys need to use Torrent, I changed my mind. If it's too big to download directly, I'm doubtful my computer can handle it.

Well anyways, to anyone I know (or know me), nice to see ya again. I would be surprised to see any old friends still around.

To those I've never met, nice to meet you :)

It seems I like to check in on old games once in a while. Sometimes I think I should start playing again; but, then I remember why I stopped playing and left. It might have changed a lot since I've been gone; but, my decisions are generally final.

Here's a sketch of my PS characters I did this school year to make this post interesting. Heh, it's been so long that I've forgotten the name of my Klyros character! (bad quality sorry!)

Now that's all done, here are some words from my characters:
Tinwei appears to be arranging all her fine weaponry in random patterns. She looks up from her work with a sad look on her face. "Ya know, endin' someone's story by makin' em stay in da luybrary for da rest of 'ere life is very tragic." Tinwei suddenly changes her mood and plants herself on her feet with a smile. "But it's fun ta meet new people!"
Suati gives a sly smile and shakes her head at the Nolthir girl's sudden mood swing. She taps her paw on the head of the drum. "At least you have an ending young one," Suati says in her mutelike voice. "My story simply stops, with no record of what happened to me!" She closes her eyes and lets her ears that cannot hear twitch to the somber beat of her drum.

@Vaka
Suati rolls her eyes. "Course I do! I don't forget faces that easily!"

1)Banned eh? I don't even wanna know what you did.
2)Cool! Too bad I won't see it :(
3)Happens to guilds eventually I guess. Pretty fun while I was in it ^_^
4)School still sucks. Marching band/Indoor drumline rocks my socks (yeah bass drums!). Bit late to say this but I got Black Ops and I'm crazy about Woods heh. Xbox live is fun but annoying/painful depending on who's talkin'. Graphics are pretty meh at the moment. Otherwise pretty blah.
5)Tinwei pouts. "No fun!"

also, you suck. making people think you've returned, then saying you're too lazy to start playing again... NOOB  :P

I'm not lazy =P! I'm simply not interested in ever playing Planeshift again (that and my computer would most likely crash with all the new stuff). Role-playing was fun while it lasted...but then I guess I lost interest and gradually grew away from it.

General Discussion / Tinwei says Hi!
« on: January 09, 2011, 04:16:52 am »
Tinwei hops down from her tree and waves at the crowd. "Hiya!"

Yeah, I'm back after an eon. How's everyone? What's happenin'? And no, I'm not going through 19 pages of unread posts to figure out what's going on 'round here.

Just been having nostalgia lately. Felt like coming back and checking up on people. I'm still not coming back to the game, even if my computer could handle it still.

Tinwei sits down in the snowy grass, pulling her cloak around her. "Ya not jus' gonna stand there are ya? I've been gone for awhile in Miss Dakk'u's 'ealm. Tell me a story!"

Probably will be my last post in the forum, as I have completely lost interest in this game (sorry!) :(

~Obviously my two chars, Tinwei and Suati. They'll be characters I'll remember forever.
~Fosovos, first char I made. Found little RP with her so I deleted her and tried again.
~Lhaa-For being a great roleplayer (and always giving Tin pie ^_^)
~Aiwendil-Loved the little family you created! I enjoyed playing with you =)
~Geoni-Kra Geo! Long time friend and will still be.
~Orathon-Met a few times when I began to play, was a nice friend until he dropped off the grid for a while.
~Kabelil-Heh, two newbs having a good time. First friend I made here! Lost contact with him after getting rid of Fosovos.
~Vayl/Euli-Oh my gosh the love/hate relationship we have XD a crazy and fun friend until problems with the new client forced her to stop playing. Will always keep you in mind ;)

If you weren't mentioned, it probably means I've forgotten your name, but I still remember you ;)

Here's one more apple pie to my last goodbye.
Tinwei noms half the apple pie before waving to the reader. "Ga'bye! See ya lata Miss or Mista!"
Suati calmly eats a slice of pie before facing the reader and speaking in her flat odd-sounding voice. "It was nice to meet you once more. May our paths cross again."

This is Dral, signing out.

Thank you for replying my very dead thread :P
