Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / The tutorial furnace isn't working

The iron ore would not become molten ever. I watched it for at least 10 minutes on the furnace, did something else with it minimized, closed the game, ate lunch, came back and it still wasn't molten. Please, I cannot finish the tutorial.
