The idea is great and I am sure we can find a solution if we all put our heads together....

Asiek won one of these battles using axes only.  It is a mock battle and therefore the unexpected can happen.  Magic is not always supreme.   The idea is to give people a taste of a battle where anything goes and as few rules as possible apply. Therefore, it is not like your usual tournament and in fact it is not a tournament.  But we will discuss your suggestion and see if anything new can come out of it.  In the meantime, please join us in the audience and yell and scream for your favourite guild.

I was killing dark rogues as is my usual habit, when Grimul came to visit me.  Grimul, for those of you who don't know, is the Dakkru priest who helps preside over the Champion's Cup.  He slipped me a grubby looking note and asked me if I would read it and spread the news to the citizenry of Hydlaa.

I tried to get hold of the editor of the local rag but he seems to have packed up shop and gone on extensive leave.  So then i had the bright idea of posting Grimul's note here in the forum:

CHAMPION'S CUP...
                                                  CURSED,
                                                      or
                                                   WHAT???

A special report by Grimal Gorfest, special reporter and servant of Dakkru.

Consider the facts:

Xitop purchased the Cup from a rogue named Jacula, who dug it from a pile of trepor dung: the Cup is covered with magic symbols and precious stones of rare beauty. Then Jacula vanished without trace and strange things began to happen.

At the first Champion's Cup  entrants reported a "strange power"  stopped them attacking one another.  Then a fierce  warrior named Asiek
killed everyone except for his companion, the young and beautiful Heleckie, claiming victory and the Cup for himself. Alas! Asiek had to disqualify himself as soon as he remembered that he was the  tournament referee!!!

The Second Cup was fairly won by "The Warriors"

At the next event, however, when Diamond Claw won, an onlooker, Perlan, a normally sane citizen was so possessed by emotion and desire for the Cup that he leapt the barriers on his faithful rivnak and mercilessly killed the winner!! To this very day, the still shaken Perlan will have nothing to do with the event and has not explained his out-of-character actions.

At the third event, the enki, Kisoji, was so fired up at the desire to be victorious he killed the young and beautiful Sciloy before the referee had said GO!!. Kisoji was eventually put down by the winner, Bonifarzia. He would have been disqualified anyway for his rash actions.

"The Warriors" won the  fourth Cup event, however, the next event was a fiasco. Xitop, one of the organisers, vanished while announcing the event. He was absent for 3 days, and says, " I remember nothing"!!!  Sir Hangatyr,  head referee,  was so overcome it seems, by the Cup's power that he also didn't turn up, leaving the 15 or so fighters who had entered that event scratching their heads in wonder. Rumour has it that he was seen sitting on the banks of the Lake of Tears with his wife, the young and beautiful Keela, sipping expensive wine from " a shiny, bejewelled goblet".

So, is this famous trophy jinxed? Who knows.  Certainly  time will, as it always does, tell!!!

By Grimul Gorfest,  Servant of Dakkru.

It is my great pleasure to announce the winner of this month's Champion's Cup........  Our Lady Bonifarzia representing her guild "The Order of Light".

Boni has been a great player every month and well deserves this honour.  Her guild will hold the Cup until next month.  Enjoy!!   \\o// \\o//

Thank you for those kind words.  But from my own personal experience I can say that each Cup is different.  And the event is governed largely by its participants.  So thank YOU for attending and helping to make it a good time for all.

Well I am tempted.  I shall discuss this with my council and let you know.  Please wait to hear from me......

13
Well... you are a little late as I believe Grimul has been given the job.  But, if you think you can do it better, then my council might reconsider.

What sort of credentials will you bring to this task and why do you think you will make a better priest of Dakkru than Grimul (who, by the way, is quite charming in a quirky kind of way)?

Grimal,
Having given your application several minutes of serious consideration, I will grant you an ingame interview to discuss what services you can provide for the Champion's Cup.  Please bring all your priestly regalia with you and a formal written application for this position.  Give me or Xitop a "tell" when you see me on.   :-\

I'm gobsmacked, but I will give it due consideration. ::|
