Guilds Forum / Re: [Guild] The Royal House of Purrty

This shows the how the family of PlaneShift really does come together when it counts the most.

Many years ago I wrote a story on the PS forums while Lolitra was ill and her husband read it to her while she was in the hospital and it made her forget her ills just for the moment and it made the story all the more worthwhile.
Lolitra taught me is was okay to use my creativity when I played and she was fun. She made her character come to life. Such a wonderful and talented person who took the time to teach me to bring my own character to life as well. It was fun to play back then and Lolitra made it even more so. Thank you you for all you did for me then. I remember in tells how you would say how hard it was to play while you were trying to do your wash and I laughed because I was doing the same thing. Such a good friend you were to me!

On a personal note I wish you Lolitra to have the strength to endure whatever is to come. I wish you and your family all the best during this most difficult time. HoodedOracle you are amazing for all the years you have stayed strong throughout. Many times I have heard Lolitra  tell me of her deep love for you. I hope that you also can deal with what is to come as well as you have in the past. I hope Real Life family and friends provide a source of encouragement and peace.

Be Blessed.

Mathy.

Then I ask if you have asked this community why they do not role play? Maybe they have a good reason why they joined a game that is called a "Role Play Game" and do not. I do not think it is because this game is free either.

Such a debate here! My goodness. Anyway no offense to the op but has anyone ever defined what role play is? In the nameless game I play, I would not want any of you to join it and ruin it, there are no arguments about role play, it comes naturally and it is fun. It is part of the game as much as leveling or questing. In some cases we even level up because of a great role play.

Once a great while I come to see this forum and I am amazed at how horrible it is. My gaming community is kind, helpful and a great deal of fun. Ever think the forum keeps new people from playing? If so maybe, just maybe all of you need to put on a new face to attract more people to this game.

I only feel sorry for the founder of this game because he had an idea so people could have fun and now, and what seems like for years past, he has watched players be so mean and nasty and ruin his vision of fun for many.

Seriously if someone were to read these forums to check this game out I hardly think anyone would play with all the conflicts you people seem to have in game that pour over to these forums.

A game is supposed to be fun!! This seems like a waste of time to me.

For a game that apparently needs each and every player because the numbers are so low I would think that if the changes for each release are making the players leave something should be rethought. Yes people come and go but having a stable player base is very important to any game. Maybe this game is going in the wrong direction.

I read a lot of how people miss the ‘good old days’ and wonder why.

The majority made the covenant when? Do most of those players still play? If not should it possibly be revised as I mentioned before for a new set of players?

I still do not understand what all the fuss is about. Role play should be fun. It seems you people are at odds over it. Maybe instead of arguing over it some kind of agreement can be found. This covenant that was made seems unpopular to many. Is it possible to revise it to make the majority happier?

What are the "conflicting philosophies" between role players?

What would be a "suitable troll bridge" that makes the two sides come together?

If you wish to have all on the same page then the people who run the game must be agreeable also. Is this not a team effort?

Yes I have enjoyed role play games with little or no conflict between players.

Pardon, I was speaking of role play based on creativity and imagination that should have no boundaries nor rules if it is true role play of course. Very different from a card game so it cannot be compared, I believe.

Personally I do not understand this. Isn't a game supposed to be fun? How many rules can a game have and still be fun? Especially when it comes to role play that takes creativity and should have freedoms to do so. That is what role playing is all about. Is not role play the development of a character within the 'world' you have created?

Why all the conflict? People of like minds should role together. That would make the conflicts stop and make it more enjoyable for everybody.

Many seem to leave this game unhappy of where it is heading. Maybe something should be rethought here.

I wonder if others look at forums to see what kind of community plays a game. I can tell you I do. What I look for is a helpful community and welcoming community that will help a new person learn a game.

I play a game now where I have gotten a lot of assistance and people welcomed me very nicely. If someone does not know an answer to a question they research it and get back to me. Even the Game Masters have taken time to help me and many others to play. I see the number of new players going up all the time and I think this is why. It is a great group of people I play with. I play a game that is pay-for so to see the community grow is great.
I would like to make an observation here. First I see passion from the players for this game. This is a good thing. Second I see many conflicts between the players, old and new. This is not a good thing for people looking to play this game. Many threads go off topic here and fights or shall I call them arguments occur over the main topic. Then what happens is the thread gets locked or closed frustrating the people even more.

As a new person looking for a game would you join a game with so many troubles to read about? I wonder if that is part of why your numbers are so low for a game that has progressed for so many years now, http://laanx.fragnetics.com/index.php?page=char_stats. One more observation from an ‘on looker’ who has not played this game is it seems many players play for a few years and leave. In my game people have played for so many years it makes for a real tight knit community. We are a family. Do the conflicts really cause people to leave this game? Could this be a deterrent to new people who might want to play?

One more thing I must say I admire Luca Pancallo, better known as Talad, I guess, for coming up with what seems like a unique concept and making it real. For his sake I hope this game is going in the direction he envisioned it. I hope that the players realize how lucky they are to play such a unique game. I also hope they will take his feelings into consideration and learn to be kinder and nicer so that the game grows as I think he hoped it would.

As an outsider this is how I see things. I do not wish to offend anyone. In past real life experiences sometimes we get so involved with things we lose sight of the importance of it. I hope this thread will not be locked or go off topic. It is written to remind all who play that others look at your forum to see if it is worthwhile to play and a potential new player might get turned off and go looking for something else. I do not think that is what Luca wants, quite to the contrary as it grows I am pretty sure he would like to see more people play, and stay, in the game he created for so many people to have fun.

@Happy: do you take pills to make you so?

No I do not take pills to make me happy. I am a happy person mostly. Though this is not how I expect to be treated as a new comer sadly.

I always check a forum out before I play a new game. This community makes me wonder about this game I must say.
