have you tried -console and -repair?

Thank you. Although your warning didn't save me from the experience, it did give me immediate explanation of what happened.i deleted the 0.5 version and downloaded the whole 0.5.1 from the main site
DON'T DO:
planeshift --repair

joining a channel and ducking out immediately doesn't help youi've done -console then switched the mirror but when it was repairing i saw that there a steel blue credits file in it!!
you never use repair as a solution for crashes of the update procedure: you've to use console as explained on the left when it happens anyway the problem can't be fixed it's because you have old files in your path do you see the updaterinfo.xml? that's the issue you need one with the proper mirror while the one you've has psmirror which afaik hosts 0.4. so:
1) get a full installer and remove 0.4 before update (it's suggested)
2) do pslaunch --console --switch http://testing.xordan.com, then --repair (it sh) ould be triggered in auto usuallyand you should be fine from now on
3) grab an updaterinfo from a freshly installed version, maybe the svn one can work too but i can't assure you
4) remove updaterinfo.xml and let it download a new one (but this is valid before you downgrade)
joining a channel and ducking out immediately doesn't help you
