Ok, we just updated the ATI card again. It still crashed in the same location. The V__ thing was disabled in settings, I checked to make sure of that also. Here is the crash report:

Complaint Department / Re: Updater
« on: February 24, 2010, 06:23:45 am »Within minutes after hearing about the update to 0.5.2, we also got a warning not to use the updater to get version 0.5.2 via IRC (because the update server was unfortunately not yet ready -- and also could not stand the rush).
It is really recommendable - in case of doubts - to visit the IRC channel #planeshift on the IRC server FreeNode.
What does this mean? How do I visit the IRC channel on the IRC server FreeNode? I have no idea what this is, but I will go there to try and fix my own problem of crashing just before entering the game world. The new 0.5.1 along with its update, or 0.5.2 if that is what is I downloaded last night, along with it's update, is still not getting me into the world of PS. I am obviously no teckkie, and I have no idea what to do, but I will try use the info above, if I can be given the knowledge on how to find it. Thanks, from a very frustrated player.

A friend told me last night that there was actually a second version of 0.5.2 that came back out yesterday, even though it wasn't actually called 0.5.1. But at any rate, I dumped all the previous 0.5.2 stuff, then redownloaded with a bit torrent, and tried again tonight. There was an immidiate update available. I did the update, and guess what!!?!!!!
I STILL DIDN'T GET IN!!!!!

I had reinstalled, didn't load the update, and was able to play until it stopped saying there was a problem reaching the server. When I tried to re-enter, I got this message. The next attempt, I will download the update, so you can see the error code on that one.
And btw, this last time only worked, I believe, because I visited that site that was suggested in another help box:

Otherwise, it continued to crash. I am going to do this again before I try to reinstall, in hopes that it will help me access the game (again? cause i don't know if that is what enabled me to get in, but it was the only thing that was different).
Also, please note, that the above report OFTEN says it HAS been sent to PlaneShift. But when I run the updater, it has NEVER managed to report itself to PS!!! idk why!!

LOL!! Ahhh... NO, indeed I wasn't running an old version, unless the updater is an old version. In this instance, however, it failed before getting to the sign in screen. TYPICALLY, it is just after connection, before the game opens in the world, with the progress bar fully loaded.
Gosh, I surely hope this helps you to help me!! Cause I'm about ready to give up!!

« on: February 20, 2010, 03:47:27 am » I am having (what sounds like) similar problems to the player above. This is what I can tell you: I originally downloaded the game via utorrent. I got in, set-up character and played. I had one crash while talking to a character, and was able to log back on w np. I had gone through several of the transition zones, then on my way back from the underworld to the Hydlaa transition, I crashed. After that, I couldn't get back on. It kept crashing at the very end of the loading process. I made a new character then, and tried that. I still couldn't get on at the end of the loading process. I uninstalled the program, and reinstalled. That worked, but for only one visit. That visit terminated w a crash at the transition zone between the two parts of Hydlaa. I uninstalled and reinstalled, played, crashed at a transition. Next time, I uninstalled, reinstalled, had a normal crash, and couldn't get back on. Since then, I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 30 times trying to get back in. A good portion of those unin/rein's didn't let me back in. I also: tried a few times to use the fixer, to do the immediate update that it says is available, have NOT done the update, have removed shaderchache, have re-downloaded the game via a regular download, have re-downloaded the game via another utorrent, have had a computer friend take control of my computer remotely to try and help me... AND ALL TO NO AVAIL for a permenant solution. Now, it still crashes just as it finishes downloading, but it ALSO will not always finish a reinstall, as it will tell me that not all files have been sucessfully downloaded. And actually, the uninstall/reinstall isn't working now either!I am working with Windows Vista. All the other info you'd like, I will have to wait for my friend to help me get.
I had made GREAT notes on quests, and am disturbed that along with needing to reset my key controls each time, I have lost all of my notes!
HELP!!! HELP!! O! Please find some way to help, this is making me soooooo aggrevated!!!
