Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / character screen messed up

i just downloaded the game and started up. it looks great :woot: but when i get to the selection of my character the part where he is supposed to appear at just flashes/blinks. i tried just ignoring it and continueing with the game but it locks up right there. sadly this is as far as i get.

please help me X-/
