In-Game Roleplay Events / [GM event] Damaged Kran
« on: January 11, 2013, 07:58:52 am »
Cour, a quartz based Kran, was found stumbling injured on the road near the north gate of Hydlaa. He was escorted to the safety of Hydlaa by an Octarchal guard that was returning from a duty rotation in Gugrontid. Telene the Octarchal guard was very helpful by carrying the kran's arm which had snapped off during kra's traumatic fall down a rocky hill. Several helpful citizens and adventurers happened by and were eager and compassionate enough to provide aid to the kran.

The GM team tested a suggestion that was given by a player after a prior event. 5 items were presented in an IC fashion to the character's, it was up to the characters/players to figure out who received each item. The players were gracious and polite to each other while still allowing the characters' personalities to graciously accept a reward or to boldly choose their reward. The reward items were distributed without any OOC drama. Because of a positive experience during this test, multiple choice for rewards will be an option for future events (not all events will have multiple choice for rewards, it is the GMs decision.) There are several methods that multiple choice for rewards can be executed; over time each method will probably be used.

PlaneShift News and Rules / The IG storage option
« on: April 25, 2011, 09:07:28 pm »
NOTICE!!!!

The ingame storage option is not limitless. Over-use/abuse of the storage system can cause system malfunctions that result in loss of items on the over users account. How many items can be stored per category can vary based on the programming traits of each item, the limit is 64kb. In addition, this does cause everyone's ability to login to be slowed. Please remember that this is a community game, not a 'me' game.

Please do not come to the GMs and the devs and ask for a specific number about how many items can be stored per category. The number is variable based on the individual items that are already stored.

I will note that stackable items of 64 units counts as 1 item in the storage option.

Please do not come to the GM team and ask us to respawn an item that you lost because you exceeded the limits of  the storage option. You have been warned.

Weltall has asked me to remind you all that the storage unit is not a garbage bin or a litter box. If you do not amass items, then you will not have a problem with the limits of the storage option.

For those of you that are crafters: Be mindful of how many items you sell per week and per month (including market days) that will give you the idea of how many you should keep in storage.

General Discussion / Re: IC settings on some races?
« on: May 27, 2010, 05:46:17 am »
While we're throwing out questions about How Things Work, what's the average size difference between males and females of the different races?   In real life, male humans on average have something like 15% more body mass than human females on average, with (IIRC) about 15 cm difference in average heights.   But what's true of humans, and presumably Ylian and maybe Xacha, shouldn't be true of Enkidukai, Dermorians, Stonebreakers, etc.   Is the average menki significantly bigger than the average fenki, like a lion vs. a lioness?  Are male and female elves usually about the same height?  Are female Klyros usually bigger than male Klyros, a la many birds and lizards?

(While I'm thinking about sexual dimorphism, do different races have different traditions about male and female roles?   Are there racial differences in normal family structure?   There's no way they all traditionally raise their kids in nuclear families.)

TBH I'm more interested in this nitty-gritty mundane stuff than any other part of the theme.

I don't think it is mundane. You are asking questions that will eventually enrich the settings of each race when 1.0 eventually makes it debut.

And I'm female which means I am not Akkaido in any way, shape, or form.

I don't know about that.

I'm not Akkaido  ::| I am a GM that has seen his description; it was a perfect example to support my point.

And I'm female which means I am not Akkaido in any way, shape, or form.  ;)

I like it alot, Talad. Thanks. How close to an event do we have to be before the count down for that event turns red? Or was that feature turned off?

Think of them like people. Some are afraid of water, some are not. That is the same as 'wild' cats. Tigers love water, they are frequently seen swimming at waterholes and crossing rivers in their natural habitat. Other 'wild' cats shun the water as much as possible, except to drink. It is appropriate to let the players create their enki's own fears based on RP experience/personal history, not the type of 'wild' cat they are modeled after.

The short and long hair is in my mind negotiable....again a little creativity. Akkaido is a good example, he has some thicker fur/hair off his chin giving him the appearance of an enki style beard.
