Complaint Department / Re: The Extinction of a Race
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:10:12 pm »
Trying to find any sense in what the Devs say.

Tefusanglings and marfusangs have no models of their own. They are the same tefusangs all over again, rescaled and repainted somewhat. No backstory.
Four species of arangmas share the same model, they are just colored differently. No backstory either.
Things like that make the game look half-baked, and the team lacks resources to fix the situation. No one plays a tefusangling or an arangma.
Are they going to be flushed down the toilet? No. Not that we know of.

Something very wrong is going on. I'm not especially happy to side with Aiwendil on that, but it seems there's no other choice left to the players. "They" don't respect neither the world itself, nor our choices, so why should "we" respect the choices "they" make? Respect the true Settings instead, play your Diaboli according to what was created by the previous Devs team, the one that made the world and is long gone by now. In some cases, gone rather unwillingly.
What could "they" possibly do to stop that from happening? Take the Diaboli model away? Update the main site? Start banning role players for "bad" descriptions? Oh yeah. *crying out loud*

Perfect. Use it instead of abusing it. One model would suit two similar-looking races just nicely. Some are Ynnwns with lighter skin, some others are Diaboli, and they're darker than their half-breed offspring.

The KISS principle always pays back. Really.

Use the same Ynnwn model for the Diaboli, just make their skin color darker.

My Main character is married to a Diabolo and has a Diabolo brother-in-law. Oops, sorry... used to have. Should I delete that character now, together with all the time spent on developing her as a person, and also her mechanical training? Thank you very much, dear Devs. Now I feel like I really matter, as a player. My RP done throughout the years obviously does, too.

Letting the Exodus happen felt like a major blow dealt to PlaneShift by its own team, or so I thought last year. I must admit now that I've been very much mistaken. There are worse things yet to come. Oh, by the way, we female Ylians have no 3D model yet. Please delete us as well? Who cares, anyway.

An open source videogame lacking some long-promised features is a thing one can easily understand and sympathize with. An open source videogame whose team seems  to be intent on humiliating and destroying the very community that makes it more than just a bunch of files in the SVN repository... is not. Sorry for my very bitter tone, I'll do my best to stay and play. No promises, though. Let the lack of care and respect flow both ways. That would be only fair, I suppose.

General Discussion / Re: Advertizing on the mines

@bilbous. The only 'book' not created by myself that I have destroyed so far -- and quite recently, too -- was some brutal IC rant against Laanx' followers, placed directly on Sharven's face. He just stood there, having a book instead of a face. GM repercussions or not, I would readily do the same thing again if it happened again.
In any other case, and especially with OOC stuff involved, I think it is much better to ask for the rules in action, and then abide by such rules no matter what.

It seems like [GAME POLICY 05] is not valid anymore. At least, the 'clean up after yourself' part.

Sarva, so is it okay to advertize things, in the form of 'books', directly on the mines? Or not?

@Sangwa. Thanks for reading the opening post carefully. I'm not talking about 'everywhere', I'm talking about the mines. Mines are those unmarked (by design, I suppose -- or not?) spots in the wilds where funny-looking folk are brandishing their pickaxes in the air, in hopes of getting some ore in return for their time. Check?

In RL years 2009-2010 there were no ads on the mines. Neither IC nor OOC ones. Now we have such ads, issued by one and only one source, on the vast majority of mines, at any given time, and it seems to be okay. Whether it really is or is not, is exactly what I'm trying to find out. Other guilds and individual characters have the same goal -- buying ore. So if PS rules allow activities like that, it should be known and there should be more ads from different sources. Or, if the rules forbid that, there should be no ads on the mines at all.
Check again? Awww, thanks! ;D

@Candy. Thanks a lot for your contribution, but it seems you didn't get my point. I'm not interested to know if other players can interpret it all IC'ly or not. I want to know if they can do the same or not.
Maybe the mines of Yliakum would look better with a forest of imagined signposts growing right on them, I don't know... tastes differ.

@bilbous. Sorry, I meant those who do that repeatedly and for training purposes. I think the OP was addressing the same issue, not just a character doing it once or twice and out of curiousity.

If it's not littering, is okay with the rules and is considered fair competition, why would I -- or any other player -- sell or otherwise destroy them?

Training armour on stacks of mobs is somewhat of a necessity, many sarcastic thanks to our crazy levelling system. Leaving stacks of mobs behind is nowhere close to a necessity, has nothing to do with RP and can only be explained by the simple fact that most players on Zeroping are playing by EZPC rules and don't give a flying rivnak about that I-word. Their immersion is okay (since they have none), so why bother.
Same about bringing mobs in town. Why, the armour trainer is much closer this way!

I'm just interested to know if it's okay with the rules. When I started playing, I was told -- or was it in the Rules section somewhere? -- that players can only leave objects on the ground for a limited amount of time, and only if their RP requires it. But at the moment nearly every mine is 'marked' with OOCish trade ads of a certain guild, which makes me wonder about the rules or guidelines probably being changed somewhere along the way.
If the old restrictions do not apply anymore, I hope everyone who is buying ore (including me) is allowed to spawn and spread multiple 'books' in the wilds to get even with those who do.
It would certainly make the mines look nicer and the world more believable

First, welcome back :)

Second, my 2 tria on the subj, given the last rumours. If They wipe out our quests and factions again, I will never give one single thought to factions anymore. I'll just make the easiest Winch I know of and keep it OOC, and I will try to avoid doing any other quests at all costs. Beta or not, people can only suspend their disbelief so many times. After that, there's no game, no fun, no nuthin' but mindless boring repetition of the same mechanical actions. Being a crafter, I certainly do not need even more of that *sigh*
