Lol, someone posted a thread saying the game is no fun and it has four pages of dramatic, emotional, heartbreakingly sad replies already.

Summoning pets (a spell) requires a Ring of Familiar (reagent). And it is implemented. I guess you could also look at glyphs as being a reagent.

Two hooded menki strolled with a casual air through a dusty canyon, the night air cool and stiff. Their desert cloaks were heavy, set for cold nights in the sandy Ojavedan barrens. The cloaks were dark steel grey with red markings on one Enkidukai, cool blue on the other, protrusions of plate armour sticking out and glinting in the cool azure light dimly projecting from the Azure Sun above. One menki had a visible grey beard protruding from his hood, the other bore a helm on top of the hood, the metal and leather entwining with the hood, both a work of art and a strong defense.

The helmed menki, a smooth-coated Rabani in blue-marked robes, sniffed the air, then opened his mouth, baring his fangs. He bore more intricate plates, metal and leather combined in swirling patterns, obviously more wealthy than his companion, and his robes were slightly finer, and more embroidered, though still appropriate for desert travel. Strapped over a shoulder were several daggers, with glowing blue gems in their hilts.

"Master, I be not a warrior like your kin, but I sense... I sense the bad smell of bandits."

The other menki, his grey beard and full cloak covering any trace of his pack colouring, turned and cocked his head at the Rabani, blue eyes gleaming under the hood.

"Relax, friend, they are afraid."

The bearded menki was of average stature, his armour covered in more red markings than his companion, red bracers strapped to his forearms bearing glowing orange gems. Strapped to his back was a round shield bearing flame imagery, and two sabers were sheated in the belt of his robes. Both weapons were engraved with highly ornamental patterns, and the menki's short spear attached under his shield had a glowing orange gem at either end.

Sounds of whispering and skittering echoed down the canyon from above, stirring up the night, seeming to bring a breeze that brushed down the canyon, flexing the sparse arid shrubbery and rustling the hoods and cloaks of the menki as they paused, flexing as if preparing for action.

The bearded menki flashed a grin towards the Rabani, reaching onto his back and grabbing the short spear that rested there, but refraining from removing it from it's position.

"There are around twenty of them, Nekaduky'a. They seem to be forming up positions at the edge of the canyon."

"So let them come."

The bearded menki drew his cloak back, revealing his Kore features, scars criss-crossing his face and three orange gems forming a golden crown between his ears, one set on his forehead and the two others behind his ears.

"In the name of Kore Irka Kor of Ojaveda, show yourselves bandits, I dare you!"

The rustling fell quiet, the canyon slipped again into an eery silence.

A mocking voice broke the silence.

"In the name of your safety, show us your possessions, I command you!"

The bearded menki grinned, and drew the short spear. In a flash of flame it extended into a full length, then he drew his shield, nodding for the Rabani to follow suit. The Rabani traced his fingers over his dagger covered shoulderpads, selecting two curved Ulbernaut claw daggers with inset blue gems.

The Rabani moved his daggers in swirling motions, casting a spell blowing air around him, kicking up dust and sand. At the same time, the Kore roared, flames engulfing his body, creating a spire of flame that flung itself skyward.

"These are our possessions," he roared, "Come and take them from me!"

A single figure appeared at the top of the canyon, raising it's arm towards the menki below.

"Attack!"

The point is a good one. RP needs to have some plausibility. I'll try to keep my male klyros' armor desc reasonable :). On the other hand, the personal reference to a specific player weakened your argument. It was also unnecessary and somewhat impolite. And your concept that a muscular giantess can't be sexy is an opinion. It isn't necessarily my thing, but there is someone for everyone.

You make the (somewhat noobish) mistake of thinking he didn't intend to offend anyone and also, the mistake of assuming he was genuine in his creation of his thread. This is comedy, people will be singled out and made fun of for their somewhat critical, sometimes blaring, contradictions and flaws. It's human humour.

I loved it. Hilarious and creative, and wholly relevant.

I'm surprised no one noticed the more blaring contradiction.

Looking at the map, the Azure Sun is shown as being east from Hydlaa. In other words, the level down is on the opposite side of Hydlaa to the Winch, which is the principal way of getting down to the next level.

Interesting, what image editor do you use?

Perhaps you could do concept work for the team, your progress so far looks like you have a bit of knowledge in this stuff.

I also would like to take off my hat to all the dev's.  Making a game free to all is great.  The time and patience you put into your work at times Im sure you have to question your sanity  :P .  As for myself, and Im sure many others, Thank you all very much.

9 Posts and he's already questioning the dev's sanity.... I'd watch this one ;)

I figured I would add a little to Vakachehk's wee ad. I'm Akaiddo.

Kore Irka Clan is focused on protective fighting and not at all on aggression. There have been some situations in the past where aggression has just lead to spiralling roleplays that got rather unpleasant. Members of Kore Irka Clan are expected to protect Enkidukai. That does not necessarily mean via aggression or anything of the like. We do as Kore have an expectation on training, but attitude wise we'd actually rather have members who won't be all aggressive than those who would cause tension in the PS community with aggression.

We also have a strong preference for Red Way magic in our ceremonies and traditions. The fire is important to Kore Irka Clan.

We enjoy decent, non-drama-queen-omatic roleplay. We're always looking at new ways to roleplay and some of these events were quite good successes, such as the Patrols of Ojaveda roleplay, and Vakachehk's markets have been a hit with some players. We encourage members to have their own ideas for roleplay, to discuss these ideas with the rest of the clan (guild OOCly), and organise and run their own events and participate in the storylines and events of other players both in and out of the clan.

We also encourage contributions from our members into the wider PlaneShift community and development if there is any way they can facilitate that.

You could summon them to court in Hydlaa, or ask neutral guilds to take up roles protecting the rights of innocents in the war in cities like Gug and Ojaveda.

Ask a dev if, like IRC channels, ingame channels can be passworded.

Any time I have been involved in a guild war, cities were pretty safe since settings wise fighting was not supposed to happen in the city. If it did, then you risked being jailed(*cough*Earowo*cough*) . Of course that was when guards were a lot more active.

Most the rules mentioned would be nice, but there isn't really a good way to enforce them. Most guild leaders wouldn't kick a member for killing a someone from the opposing guild who was a 'civilian' or for fighting in a declared safe zone.

They would be enforced ICly and OOCly by guards/GMs. ICly you can be jailed for killing anyone who is unarmed, inside or outside a city. OOCly you can get banned by GMs for OOC insults, harassment, etc.

Hi all,

Whilst reading this I had two basic points of thought come to mind.

1) Perhaps this idea is practical, but then the guilds system gets so heavily abused with non-RP guilds that I would encourage people to think about the potential 'cons' of such a system and how it could be used to hinder RP.

2) It's not too hard to setup a 'group' already, anyway, especially if it's secret. Just make a channel in the Channels box and use it to organise, not unlike a Guild tab.

That rule would apply before this stage entirely and therefore isn't relevant.

Hey LigH,

Just one point according to your grid:

Most objects don't have specular maps, AO, Heightmaps, etc.

So not alot of difference will be noted at some steps along the grid.
