General Discussion / I want to learn to roleplay, can anyone help me?

I'm actually not a newbie, but I've never stayed long in the game. I'm starting again after a year of inactivity and this time I want to do it right so I actually stay. So I want to learn to roleplay better.
I guess I just don't really know how to start roleplays. I've done it on forums/Facebook before but always with someone else starting. But since no one is gonna do that in this situation I'm putting myself out there.  :sweatdrop:
I guess what I'm saying is, my character needs a friendly date or something of the sort. If anyone's up for that that'd be awesome.
Other than that, tips would be nice.

One Paragraph Description: A young Dermorian, simply dressed in leather. He carries a rock pick which is worn from use. You notice dark circles under his eyes, as if he does not sleep much. When his sleeves shift you can see ornate designs carved into his arms. His long burgundy hair is carefully combed and pulled back.
(I am not good at starting RPs but I do want to do them... perhaps someone patient enough could help me get started?)

When I did the final BlackFlame quest, Relliom told me to go see Sysial Shillor, but she has nothing to say to me. Is this just not implemented yet? 'Cause I'm really curious as to what happened to the Used...

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / My friend is having severe graphics problems.

Okay, so my boyfriend is wanting to play Planeshift, and when he opens his client to try and make a character, this is what happens:

I suggested that he set the graphics lower, and this is what happened when he opened the graphics window:

He's tried repairing and updating, neither worked. He's running windows 7, but I don't know what kind of graphics card he has.

So, I just finished the quest "An Eager Clacker" (don't judge me :P) and so I went to give Relliom the ribbon. I gave it to him, and a few seconds later my client froze. When I logged back in, he wouldn't answer to anything except "Sarane gives Relliom the green clacker ribbon", which of course I'd already given and so didn't have. Is there a way of going back to the clacker and doing it again, or starting the quest without the ribbon?

Okay, so I've been playing for a little while, and I finally ran out of free deaths. (note to self: next time just walk back from the Bronze Doors instead of falling on purpose) The death realm starts loading. No sweat, I used to play a while ago and I remember how to get out. My character finally loads - holy sh** he's standing on air. Is this a new developement to confuse people? Apparently not, because seconds later the client crashes.
So, how do I fix this? I've tried repairing, I've tried setting my graphics to the lowest the can go. Nothing works. Help a brother out?
I'm running Windows 7 on a Vaio laptop, if that helps.

So, I'm a returning player from a few years ago and one of the things I loved about this game was the sound. Now, though, I've returned, and every time I enable the sound, the client crashes when I open it. Am I just not going to be able to use the sound, or is there a fix?
