It would be highest praise for ones character to receive a constellation in the sky

try actually raising you shaders setting to at least medium in pslaunch. i've had a similar issue to yours with shaders set on low or lowest.

General Discussion / Re: Guidelines to play an "evil" character
« on: February 28, 2011, 10:41:04 pm »
keep in mind, no matter what type of character you play, that people always choose to do what they sincerely believe is the right thing to do. it is society that deems someone good or evil, a hero or a villain. even the most universally accepted as pure evil historical figures (your hitlers, stalins, caligulas, pol pots, etc.) acted in what they believed was the right. and they had followers, supporters, then and even now. nobody acts on what they think is an evil or bad choice. we all try to do what we think is good, it's just that some people are twisted enough to believe that murder, rape, theft, even genocide are the right and good choices. nobody thinks of themself as a villain, everybody thinks of themself as the hero. even the joker thinks that he's the hero and batman is the villain.

i'm actually torn between graphics and settings, but chose graphics because I think all character models should be complete. after that, i feel that settings sort of is the foundation that the game is built upon, and right now it's like swiss cheese. complete the settings, make it solid, then build the rest of the game up from there.

Couldn't there be shapes or natural designs in that surface that might be identified much like the Big Dipper or the Southern Cross?  Having a few of those to use as reference points would help players find their way in new areas in a way that makes complete sense from an RP standpoint.

this is an awesome idea. i've been racking my brain trying to come up with a PS equivalent of astronomy, and i think you hit the nail on the head.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Re: Low Settings
« on: February 11, 2011, 05:09:43 pm »
i've been experimenting with graphic settings lately. right now i have everything on low except for shaders on medium, and i am practically lag free (unless i'm in a crowded area. I was hanging around harny's the other day and so were about 40 other people and that was the laggiest i've been in over a week. the look at the ground trick does help with lag, but it didn't help in that situation when i couldn't see who was talking to me)  ::|

Enkidukai have the H'oka Pont. It's a stringed instrument.

Possibly similar looking to a mandoline with an angled neck?

i'm hoping for something like this:

the best is generation server side with the compilation of a recipe list (similar to the help panes) where you click on the result item and you get the whole procedure.
 this would be completely and totally awesome

keep walking down that cooking path Sahema, I think you might be satisfied. (although you will have to find your way to Ojaveda)

and yes, as you play you will meet more and more characters who play these artisan roles. true, they're products don't have much impact on gameplay, but they do help in creating an extremely immersive roleplay environment.

I guess I was lucky enough to play my character as if they were from out of town  :-\

but seriously, do a few quests first, they really teach you the lay of the land. I'd say after about a week of play I knew where most of everything was, although i'm still discovering new stuff everyday.

Wish list / Re: Ressurection spawn points
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:16:04 am »
i guess harnquists makes a good spawn point for new players, since it's kind of a popular hangout, but I think maybe the plaza would be a better location.

as to respawn points for returning from the DR, i totally support chessire's suggestion. it makes sense IC that some sort of religious or government structure be built at such a spot, as it would be well known for all characters that THAT is the spot where people return. I like the idea that it either be a temple or hospital type structure, or maybe a combination of both.

hanging around a blacksmith until a death curse dissipates just doesn't make sense.

a big slice of tomato with some fresh mozzarella, olive oil and fresh basil

aren't there jellies and jams in the cookbook? I haven't made them but I think they're in there.
