I wanted to put "IVth" like the 4th ... it hated that. It doesn't tell you what the real problem is, and claims you have less than 2 characters...but just uses a catch-all saying there arent enough characters when there clearly were.

Well, it's too much for me... If it was a problem with my system that's one thing. If it was even a glitch in game, that may be another... but I'm not going to fight with a game even just for naming purposes...there's too many glitches. When this gets out of beta-mode, I'll maybe try again.

Thanks for the welcome.  :) That is especially strange, since those exact lines are already in updaterinfo.xml ... Does it not see the other file? Or are they both necessary? I tried adding that file, and it showed it was getting mirrors from both files....And why does it download windows files when I select repair? All ".exe" or ".dll"... This is Linux, not Windows...
psclient.exe and pslaunch.exe can't be the right files when I have normal non-"exe" files already....  ??? Also they are win64... looks like 64 bit, and I'm running 32-bit.... Strangest updater I've ever seen. And it keeps crashing and closing every so often after it gets a few more files each time...Lots of problems here imo.

The last one downloaded a linux specific zip file... then crashed and would never launch again... I extracted it to the same directory and the new pslaunch still won't work, but it opens with the client directly.

What's worse, is ingame it claims "Last name must contain more than 2 letters" when I enter like 15.....But I guess that goes elsewhere on here.
UPDATE: As for the name issue, it looks like it regardless of the problem with name specification, it defaults to that error. I don't want a default name, I want to pick  :@#\

First I tried searching this forum, and I'm sure it's somewhere, but I legitimately can't find the answer. I'm running Linux, but I don't know if that's relevant. I downloaded the 0.5.7 version at http://mirrors.redlem.com/PlaneShift/PlaneShift-v0.5.7-x86.run ...When I install everything is fine, but automatic updates don't go well... it claims to fail on a couple of updates, then tells me to repair. When I repair it trys to download win64 or something that looks a lot like windows files ... dlls and such....which also fails. It tells me to download the full updated version of the game if repairs fail... Yet I have the most recent version.  ??? Unless of course the website itself hasn't updated it's mirrors/links. It says if the repair/new download doesn't work, to go to a tinyurl.com address that leads me to a general troubleshooting topic on here, but that was useless and only applied to actually using the game. Any ideas? Thanks.
