Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: Here you can learn about what's going on in the development of the game, and you get a chance to ask questions, make suggestions, and give feedback.
Uadjet: Talad has started a vacation, so he hasn't streamed for a few days.
Gonger:: Everybody needs a break from time to time.
Uadjet: So, as those who were at the end of yesterday's event will have noticed, we now have new containers.
Uadjet: Yeah, I opened the /item window, and leaving that when in a guildhouse always results in falling through the floor.
Uadjet: The backpack you've seen, and there are more available.
>Uadjet dropped a Purse.
Uadjet: These would fit well on the hip, I'd imagine.
Anysu: Available in game?
Uadjet: No, only via GM for now.
>Uadjet dropped a Large Purse.
>Uadjet dropped a Backpack.
Uadjet: Apparently there are also new bracers, but I cannot find them in the database.
Anysu: Yeah! New bracers!
Uadjet: Also, the compass quest is in!
Uadjet: That's an Esential Trail quest, and not too far into the quest line.
Uadjet: Check the resource gatherer NPCs and you should find it.
Uadjet: There is a new /roll functionality.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 9 (+3 bonus) for a total of 12.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 2 (+3 bonus) for a total of 5.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 19 (+3 bonus) for a total of 22.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 20 (+3 bonus) for a total of 23.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 1 (+3 bonus) for a total of 4.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 12 (+3 bonus) for a total of 15.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Agility. Roll is 18 (+3 bonus) for a total of 21.
Uadjet: Can you all see those rolls?
Anysu: Yes.
Anysu: But how do you use them?
>Player Gonger: Xaraha rolls on Agility. Roll is 6 (+8 bonus) for a total of 14.
Gonger:: Syntax: /roll agility
Uadjet: Correct.
Uadjet: It's /roll agility, or /roll agi. You can use the full skill name, the first word, or the first three letters.
>Player Anysu Atani rolls on Strength. Roll is 3 (+8 bonus) for a total of 11.
Uadjet: It rolls a 20-sided die, and your stat adds between 1 and 7.
Uadjet: Luck plays the bigger role, which is by design. This way new players still have a chance compared to veteran players with maxed everything.
>Player Gova Liernan rolls on Empathy. Roll is 10 (+8 bonus) for a total of 18.
>Player Gova Liernan rolls on Empathy. Roll is 18 (+8 bonus) for a total of 26.
Gova: I'm getting a +8.
Uadjet: That skill is above 200?
Gova: Yeah.
Uadjet: I'll mention it to Talad.
Uadjet: I'm sure he can add an upper limit pretty easily.
>Player Anysu Atani rolls on Will. Roll is 13 (+8 bonus) for a total of 21.
Anysu: I get a +8 to everything
>Player Anysu Atani rolls on Endurance. Roll is 11 (+8 bonus) for a total of 19.
Uadjet: Quests can be written to define a skill range as, for example, 50-99, or as being outside a range. I'm sure that upper limit can be defined as something like 'require no skill doodling 0-150' or whatever.
>Player Anysu Atani rolls on Charisma. Roll is 6 (+8 bonus) for a total of 14.
Uadjet: Try a skill that isn't over 200.
>Player Uadjet rolls on Endurance. Roll is 16 (+4 bonus) for a total of 20.
Anysu: But all of mine are over 400
Uadjet: Okay, stats are different than skills. 210 Endurance gets a +4. So I'm guessing the stat is halved for determining the bonus.
Uadjet: Try a skill like heavy armor.
>Player Gonger: Xaraha rolls on Heavy Armor. Roll is 17 (+8 bonus) for a total of 25.
>Player Anysu Atani rolls on Melee. Roll is 10 (+3 bonus) for a total of 13.
Anysu: Oh okay. I was just rolling with stat numbers not othe skills
>Player Gonger: Xaraha rolls on Crystal Way. Roll is 4 (+9 bonus) for a total of 13.
Anysu: So when are these rolls used? And must they be used?
Gonger:: +9 for Crystal Way, which is at 220 with boosts.
Uadjet: They can be used in events, for example. Or during any RP where chance is involved.
>Player Gonger: Xaraha rolls on Empathy. Roll is 14 (+9 bonus) for a total of 23.
Anysu: Seems to distract from rping things. If you end up spamming rolls in main for evrything you try.
Uadjet: Well, in an RP I think it would be one roll per person.
Gonger:: The rolls are always D20?
Uadjet: Yes.
Anysu: But at times more than one person is trying something. Like Damola and Anysu doing a healing. Seems unfair if only one get a roll when both are trying?
Uadjet: Well, both people would roll in that case, and maybe combine the rolls? Or add both bonuses to the highest roll?
Uadjet: We can figure it out.
Uadjet: It's not like the person with the lower roll gets locked in a prison cell for an hour.
Uadjet: The only limits are the limitations of the engine, and much of the time we can work around those with the Power of Imagination!
Anysu: I would take imagination over a die roll anytime.
Anysu: So is there a number those rolls must meet to work? And do you set them Uadjet?
Anysu: In D&D it's called a DC (Difficulty Class).
Uadjet: The only answer I can give to that is... maybe.
Uadjet: It could work like the Ynnwn Games rolls.
Uadjet: Really, there isn't much of a limit to the different ways we could do things.
Gonger:: Our imagination sets the limits.
Uadjet: The city management system has been updated a bit, though I don't think that the other cities are working yet. Just Hydlaa.
Thosor: We can carry things in a backpack like my precious hitchhiker's towel?
Uadjet: Yes. 10 slots, capacity of 20.
Thosor: Weight? can it give you extra weight capacity for ore and such?
Uadjet: No, the capacity is a size thing.
Uadjet: Every item has both weight and size. Containers are limited by size, not weight.
Thosor: So one can carry infinite amount of ore in it?
Uadjet: No, just up to 20 size units, however many that is.
Uadjet: You could carry 20 towels in it.
Thosor: I have a helm that gives a little extra carrying when I max out mining.
Uadjet: That's weight, not capacity.
Uadjet: Capacity only matters for containers.
Uadjet: Any other questions on this? Thoughts?
Uadjet: Yes?
Thosor: I went hunting tefus with a friend last night...
Thosor: I got that white 3 part semicircle and had to relog.
Uadjet: Stuck in aiming mode?
Thosor: In the past i was able to reaim at a target and get out of it, but I couldn't
Thosor: Yes, get red target, do business, hit tab and white circle remains, no mouse pointer.
Thosor: Had to alt tab to anothef window, crash out of ps window using X
Thosor: If no other windows open, I would have to force reboot.
Thosor: Linux, although have in the past same on Windows
Thosor: Will study bugtracker
Uadjet: Hmm. In Windows I'd suggest Alt-F4.
Uadjet: Okay, so that's something I can pass on.
Gonger:: Welcome Tela! Do you have any questions?
Thosor: New to the land, i understand.
Gonger:: Tela, this is an OOC meeting where you can learn about new things, give your opinion, make suggestions, ask questions.
Tela: Greetings elders of the land, I will listen and learn humbly
Gonger:: You may wish to join our weekly RP meetings, Saturday evening Europe time. Check the Calendar on the PS website for details.
Thosor: We meet here every other week.
Gonger:: 2nd and 4th Sundays, to be more precise.
Anysu: Any other news, Gonger: or Uadjet?
Uadjet: I think that's it. New /roll function, backpacks and purses exist and can be visually equipped, compass quest...
Uadjet: Oh, and apparently a quit confirmation, which I do not want to test at the moment. ;)
Thosor: Should we still hand out spare compasses?
Uadjet: Sure.
Thosor: Or (prefering rp) hint at the quest.
Thosor: Is the quest active in this release?
Gonger:: Yes.
Uadjet: I see it in the database, and it looks active.
Gonger:: Have fun, and let me know if you find websites with wrong or outdated information on PlaneShift!
Gonger:: Or rather, websites that should know about PlaneShift, but do not yet... :)

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: This is where we give you a look behind the curtain at what's being worked on, and give you a chance to ask questions and make suggestions.
Uadjet: Okay, so people who have attended events have now seen all three new faction guildhalls.
Uadjet: There's no way to access the Conclave of Glyphs legitimately for now, but I'll leave that ramp there so that those who missed the event can take a look.
Uadjet: One is on the road between Hydlaa and the BD, just a little ways past the Explorer's Outpost. The second is in the desert east of Ojaveda. The third can be seen from the temple in Gugrontid.
Uadjet: Now, Talad's been doing work on a beastmaster, which is an NPC that will allow you to buy either new pets or new skins for your pets. I'm not sure if he's decided that once and for all.
Uadjet: He's also been doing more work on city management.
Uadjet: Now, I'll bring in an NPC so that you can see what the screen looks like.
Uadjet: There's a new icon in the right-click menu for some NPCs that allows you to go into City Management.
Javii: Is Willam the only city manager working? I've interacted with the one in Ojaveda and it doesn't list requirements.
Uadjet: I tried Xorekke earlier and none of the sections were working.
Uadjet: So maybe only Willam is working for now.
Javii: ahh I see, yeah I tried Xorekke as well
Gonger: I will check this out soon. Sounds interesting.
Uadjet: Yeah, only the Hydlaa one seems to be working.
Anysu: Totally did not know of those others
Javii: I'm basically asking because Talad on stream went to check the positions table on the one in Ojaveda and it was empty.
Javii: so I think he expected it to be working already
Uadjet: I think it's a case of something not being loaded properly.
Uadjet: But give the Hydlaa one a try, if you have some time and spare resources.
Anysu: Will player characters get individuall benefit from donating?
Uadjet: If the player is in a guild, the guild as a whole gets credit. That's how it stands currently, but of course the sytem is still being built.
Gova: Well, there's nothing under siege equipment. That's a shame. I want to build ballistas!
>Uadjet dropped a Ballista.
>Uadjet picked up a Ballista
>Uadjet dropped a Catapult.
Thosor: Do we have enemy cities?
Uadjet: Siege weapons aren't usable just yet, but I suspect it's just a matter of time.
Anysu: Only enemy be attacking monsters
Anysu: Be cool if had a guild house with a space to have a siege engine around the guild house.
Thosor: Magic changes everything, Cyndi Lopper [sic]
Thosor: Attack other guild houses, then loot them.
Uadjet: I'm not sure Talad would approve of that. :)
Anysu: Probably not. Could use them on monsters. Or maybe PVP in PVP areas.
Zrak: Or future guild wars
>Uadjet picked up a Catapult
Uadjet: Well, if we get them working I can easily bild an event around them.
Uadjet: But for now, they're just decorative.
Anysu: Could also have an event around new Beastmaster.
Gonger: And Talad needs a different name there, for there is only one Beastmaster, our dear Kalterina!
Anysu: YES THAT IS RIGHT GONGER!!!
Uadjet: Animal Handler should work.
Uadjet: So, are there any questions? Suggestions?
Thosor: Regarding the maps...
Uadjet: Yes?
Thosor: I went to patch a missing part of my main map...
Thosor: I used the wrong one, (i had a couple of each section)
Thosor: If the section is already on the main map, you lose the spare one that was tried.
Uadjet: Ah, yes. They are consumables.
Thosor: I would like them labeled better, lower left, top middle, etc. North, south...
Anysu: That be helpful such labels.
Uadjet: Well, I'm not sure that's how it would work. Maps are of places and regions, not as part of a single larger map.
Gonger: That would be good, I also already used several map pieces...
Uadjet: The full map in our compendium is a player convenience, but there's no logical, in-game reason for that to be a 'full map'.
Thosor: I promised a friend a piece, but we don't know which is which without wasting them.
Anysu: And those maps cost alot!
Thosor: Maybe add a dialog box like Windows: "are you sure you want to left click?"
Anysu: Perhaps a means by which if you go to buy a map you already have there could be a message that you had that piece?
Uadjet: A check to be sure that piece isn't already present would make sense, though.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Gova: After losing treasure chest or two due to 'eating' them when they were locked, I thought about a solution. My idea was that using an unlocked treasure chest gives you the contents, but using the locked version either doesn't work or produces an identical copy of itself as it's consumed. That way you don't gain or lose anything by trying to use a locked chest.
Gova: Maybe something similar would work for map pieces, where using one that you already have spawns a copy of itself in your inventory when it gets consumed.
Uadjet: I think the first Hydlaa piece could be given as part of the 'Welcome to Hydlaa' quest, like in was in Legacy.
Zrak: Totally agree with you.
Gonger: Good idea.
Gova: The Hydlaa Plaza map is the most detailed, and NPCs get added automatically when you talk to them. I think. Well, some of them.
Thosor: What is difference of pin vs custom pin?
Uadjet: The custom pins are added by the player, while the others are added automatically by the game.
Zrak: Do you have a question Gonger?
Gonger: I have a question about those new equipment slots (like the one I have my barrel in). Would it be possible to make certain items UNequipable there, items over a certain size like tents, or, ahum, BEDS? It is a total immersion breaker to me...
Uadjet: Yeah, some items are disallowed via category. I think disallowing items over a certain weight and/or size would make sense too.
Gonger: Weapons strapped on the back normally look awesome!
Thosor: Question, what is the slot above the arms armor? Looks like shawl.
Gova: Top right slot?
Thosor: Yes, top right
Gova: It goes robe, arms, bracers, gloves, shield.
Anysu: Top right is robe.
Uadjet: Then I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you again at the next meeting in two weeks. Until then, have fun playing and maybe try an event or two!
Gonger: Thank you all. Try to be online a bit more often during the week, in case some newbies arrive :)

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the developer's Q&A!
Gonger: It's a pleasure to have such a large crowd at the meeting.
Uadjet: Here is where we give you a little summary of what's going on behind the scenes and give you a chance to ask question, make suggestions, and just generall give feedback.
Uadjet: So, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage if you have a question.
Uadjet: If not, I'll give a quick update on what's been going on.
Anysu: So what is new Uadjet?
Uadjet: Now, I know this has been covered before, but I do feel like it's worth mentinoning the Visual Equip system again.
Uadjet: That's why players now have items attached to themselves.
Uadjet: It's a big step forward in character customization, really, and it's pretty easy.
Uadjet: Just right-click on an item in your inventory and there will be a new button on the left hand side called VisualEquip.
Uadjet: Click on that and a new window pops up where you can assign that item to one of several slots.
Uadjet: Back, both hips, and both shoulders are what's currently available.
Uadjet: Now, after the next update you'll also have the ability to flip items and change which end is up and (I think) the angles of some items.
Uadjet: Let me see if I can't find something....
>Uadjet dropped a Quiver.
Uadjet: Hmm. There is a quiver item, but it's a container. I think containers are blocked from being equipped.
>Uadjet picked up a Quiver
Uadjet: They are.
Uadjet: I'll talk to Talad about that.
Uadjet: I think players will like to have quivers they can wear.
Anysu: Quiver be nice.
Gonger: Ironically enough a quiver is an item that SHOULD be worn on the back.
Gonger: And with the correct side up...
Uadjet: So that shouldn't be too hard to deal with. If an exception to one item in a category is too hard, a non-container items with the same art will do.
Uadjet: Talad's taking a mini-vacation this weekend. He's not left Italy, presumably so that he isn't exposed to imitation Italian food - but before he left he was working on City Management again.
Uadjet: It's partially live, so I'm wondering if any of you have experimented with it yet?
Resildren: i've added a bit to it, but it's limited
Anysu: I've tried but when I give the items, that item doesn't leave my inventory.
Anysu: Any other news?
Uadjet: But the city management is a way for players and guilds to provide goods for a city/town.
Mohonin: what sort of goods?
Uadjet: That will one day be able to grant rewards, like access to better goods at merchants or quests.
Uadjet: The goods can be simple, like ores and wood. They can also be more complex, like swords or other crafted items.
Uadjet: Talad has also started doing new intro quests for players who just left the starting area.
Mohonin: Sir, in Talad Sir's stream i have seen some special building were being made, so what are those buildings for? and what do we do there?
Uadjet: I'm not sure which buildings you're talking about.
Uadjet: Do you mean the new organization guild halls?
Uadjet: Like the one that looks like a person's upper body?
Mohonin: yes those ones
Uadjet: Ah, we've had events introducing two of them thus far. The two we've visited are for martial academies: One devoted to axes, and the other to blunt weapons.
Anysu: They are in game now and we visited them on event day
Uadjet: Yes. Those two can be visited normally, though.
Uadjet: Weekend after next is the one players cannot get into without exploits.
Anysu: So the next guild visit will be Sat in a couple weeks?
Uadjet: It was created by Talad (the God, I mean), and the location isn't easy to get to.
Uadjet: There will be a way to access it in the future, it's just not in yet.
Uadjet: Talad was talking about players being able to glide down from the temple in Gug, but that's not currently possible.
Uadjet: It's not hard to add gliding, safe fall, and flying, but making it compatible with everything that's already in the game...
Anysu: You can fall from that temple though in Gug?
Uadjet: Well, the slide is still there, but it won't get you to the new temple.
Resildren: Donation at the temple, take the slide then use the portal, could that work?
Uadjet: Maybe. A donation and then gliding would be great. It's not hard to dial down gravity for a character.
Uadjet: I'll redo the slowfall/gliding thing in Unreal 5, just to see if there's a different. Then I'll see if I can't get it to work with ALS.
Uadjet: Have fun playing, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks!

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: I'm guessing most of you noticed that there was an update.
Uadjet: If you managed to update the game in your sleep... Respect.
Gonger: Great to see /whisper fixed.
Uadjet: As mentioned, /tell is now working properly.
Uadjet: I know that was a thorn that people had a hard time ignoring.
Kalterina: /sleep
Uadjet: I also see that the new /sleep command has been discovered.
Kalterina: How do I wake up?
Thosor: kalterina sleep on her back, me on my side
Javii: [I think it's wakeup or just jump]
Uadjet: Pressing the spacebar works, yes.
Resildren: target yourself to use the space bar
Uadjet: Quite right. You can now wear items in five slots: Back, either shoulder, or either hip.
Uadjet: It's a purely cosmetic thing, but it is fun.
Kalterina: Got the back items on between Klyros wings, neat.
Uadjet: Really, any way to tell other characters apart visually helps.
Uadjet: Now I think people with like this too: The Dryken Plane has been completely redone, and the Stone Labyrinth significantly simplified.
Uadjet: Right-click examine, and there's a new option under Inspect. Click that, and you can pick the slot from a dropdown menu.
Uadjet: Oh, the command to wake up is... dramatic pause... /wakeup
Uadjet: As mentioned - and you people really are doing my work for me today - the Ylian F model now has new meshes for robes and armor.
Uadjet: torches, campfires, and anything else with a visual effect might not work.
Uadjet: Voicing has been added for many NPCs.
Uadjet: They should also now have animations that play when they are talking, so they won't just stand motionless anymoer.
Gonger: That would be cool, synchronized movements...
Resildren: I saw the animation on the pterosaur master in Gugrontid. Voices are being added next, perhaps tonight.
Uadjet: Talad also fixed the issue with the chat box always going to the newest messages when one comes in, making it difficult to scroll up and read old chat.
Uadjet: There are a few other things that I saved for last.
Uadjet: There's a new creature type.
Uadjet: The Quillback.
Kalterina: Nice about the chat box.
Uadjet: Talad's a Dev, not a GM. You can tell because the first thing a GM does is set their stats to 5000 or something stupid like that.
Javii: so if I was to enter combat with you, I'd probably be oneshot?
Uadjet: That seems likely.
Uadjet: In legacy I was punching for tens of millions of damage. Haven't tried in Unreal.
Uadjet: So, I invite you to try and find the quillbacks. There aren't many, and I don't think they have loot yet, but there are some out there.
Uadjet: I do still think the sand worm should be added. No full body, just the part that comes out of the ground.
Resildren: I found the complex out there but as yet not the critters
Uadjet: And yes, there are three new locations to find.
Uadjet: Two of them are weapon style organizations: The Indomitables and the War Smiters.
Uadjet: I don't want to say too much, because each one will be getting an event in the coming weeks and I'll do a better job of explaining then.
Uadjet: The third place is associated with the Conclave of the Glyhps, which is the church devoted to Talad.
Uadjet nods. "The events are already loaded into the calendar, and probably won't be too hard to identify which is which."
Kalterina: Any other news?
Uadjet: I think that's it from me. Any questions?
Resildren: Can we strap a beer barrel on Gongers back?
Uadjet: Maybe.
>You have been awarded item(s) by a GM
>You gained 1 stout beer keg.
Uadjet: This model doesn't have the correct attachment points, I'm assuming.
Kalterina: Is Gonger afk?
Gonger: Tadaaaaa!
Resildren: perfect
Uadjet: That... That is excellent.
>Kalterina cheers happily at Gonger!
Uadjet: And if you get the chance, please dive the new Dryken Plane a try.
Uadjet: It's much improved.

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: This is where you hear about the development of the game and get to ask any questions you might have. I may not have the answers, but I'm sure I can make something up.
Uadjet: If you have any questions, please step up to the lecterns at the front of the stage.
Uadjet: Mohonin?
Mohonin: Sir, if i may ask a question... from the glimpse of what i saw in Talad Sir's stream and some chat in the discord... would there be 3 different dryken planes for the different races?
Uadjet: No, though it may be different depending on which race you are.
Uadjet: One thing we discussed was having NPCs in the Dryken Plane. Some would be the same for everyone, but others could be of the same race as the PC. That would make for more interesting dialogue.
Mohonin: oh i get it
Mohonin: Now i have an idea to propose...
Mohonin: Some ideas of game mechanics on how the tent/tarp can be made... items required stick/rod, leather strings, and just the raw hides or tanned and prepared leather piece. Keep the sticks in smith table and leather string in 1 hand to tie 1 stick with another stick, thus making a reverse U shaped support for the tent using 2 sticks/rods. Then put the number and type of leather(small, medium, large) in smith table and hold as many as strings required in 1 hand and then combine to make big leather sheet for the tent. Then using smith table combine reversed U shaped rods/sticks and leather sheet to make Tent/tarp
Mohonin: And the entrace to the tent/tarp wud be like the door icon used in entry to a building. And after the person enters the tent/tarp, only outter of the building can be see as the inside wud be very cramped to screen the camera there.
Uadjet: I think discord might be a better place to post something that long. That being said, being able to make tents is a good idea.
Anysu: Yes under ideas... PLEASE!
Gonger: Or in the forums...
Uadjet: It fits with what Talad is doing with bedrolls, too.
Mohonin: ok, i'll post it in ideas channel in discord chat and in forum 'my wish' topic'
Uadjet: Now, I'm thinking about the entrance. Collision enabled, of course. A flap could open or close. It's not easy to lock a tent, though.
Mohonin: Thanks
Anysu: Well I will look on forum or discord ideas.
Mohonin: Another idea i wud le to propose..(this is a small one)
Mohonin: Sir, how about a picnic in 1 of the events. if it can be made in wilderness much more exciting. A bit of area surrounded by trees, carpets can be laid down, and giftboxes can be kept on the middle with various food and drinks. we can name the event "A picnic in Wilderness"
Mohonin: Looks like some more event idea coming to your mind as happened to me when i was writing this picnic idea. like a sudden invasion of clackers, forest arangma or as such for some action for those who wud find it exciting.
Uadjet: Invasions require scripts to work properly. Some could be done in Legacy, but the pathing and aggression in Legacy makes that more problematic.
Mohonin: Ok i'm done with my ideas, will post it in discord and forum for ya all to read it properly
Mohonin: Aah! that what i was worried about, spawing multiple NPC creature, 1- wud it can be done with present system and 2- Can the server take on so many pressure of NPCs
Uadjet: I've tried reloading Marangma, but it doesn't help. Sometimes Marangma is well above the city. Like 3 km up.
Uadjet: I can't spawn new creatures, but I can teleport them about easily enough.
Uadjet: And the system handles high NPC populations rather easily, as I recall.
Gonger: A few words from the PR team...
Gonger: I have started to reach out more to websites for Indie games, since commercial websites tend to ignore my efforts - we are Fully Free to Play, and Indie, so we do not have much of a budget for advertising with them....
Gonger: I have some positive feedback already and will keep things up there... let's see what comes of this.
Gonger: Also on one big website I saw they had interviewed the makers of Guild Wars 2, so I reached out to Talad whether he would be interesting in such an interview, and if yes, I would try to get it organised with that website. No answer from Talad yet.
Gonger: And as usual, if you find a website where PlaneShift is not mentioned at all, or is mentioned not correctly, please let me know, and I will try to correct things there.
Gonger: Thank you.
>Anysu claps for Gonger.
>Mohonin cheers happily!
>Thosor claps.
Karzela: Good ideas Gonger
Uadjet: Good to hear!
Mohonin: Unfortunately i had a bad experience trying to promote PS to a multimedia, graphics and animation institute as advised to me by Talad sir, and I was something like kicked out from the reception itself
Thosor: From mentioning Fecebook?
Mohonin: No facebook mentioned
Gonger: You mean, you went there personally, and got kicked out?
Mohonin: just mentioned i was looking for people for graphics designing in an international project named Planeshift
Mohonin: ya Gonger, i went there personally and got kicked out
Gonger: Did you have an appointment?
Anysu: Or a portfolio or presentation written up?
Mohonin: No, i didn't had any appointment and seeing their attitude i don't think they will gimme appointment
Gonger: I applaud the effort, but I think you tried a very wrong approach...
Anysu: There are procedures for such things, and proper channels.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Mohonin: A portfolio or presentation i had with me as a leflet/flyers i distribute for PS promotion
Gonger: With institutes of all kinds, you need an appointment first. Make some internet research WHO in the institute might be the right person for your ideas, and get in touch with that person.
Mohonin: Tried their website but it was down before going personally to them
Gonger: What kind of institute is it? Private, University, ...?
Anysu: Or need to contact the head of proper department with the information via like maybe an e-mail.
Gonger: An institute where the website is down? Well...
Mohonin: Its a private institute, no university
Gonger: You might be more lucky with an university institute, approaching the Student Body there. Students are more likely to be enthusiastic about games.
Mohonin: ok thank you for the ideas i'll try it
Uadjet: Now for a little update...
Uadjet: The Dryken Plane and Labyrinth are being rather drastically altered.
Uadjet: It... actually looks really good!
Uadjet: The labyrinth portion will be smaller and less confusing.
Gonger: Hear! Hear!
Uadjet: The Dryken Plane portion is getting islands added that allow players to learn about Yliakum and actually interact with things. Puzzles, too.
Mohonin: Interesting
Anysu: If it is not done can't go there yet, Mohonin
Anysu: How can you see it or participate if it hasn'r been incorperated in game yet?
Gonger: So that new Plane is active already?
Uadjet: It's not active yet.
Uadjet: I assumed Mohonin meant when it's done.
Gonger: Ok, that is more clear.
Uadjet: Actually, I can reset that quest when I teleport your alt there.
Mohonin: yes sir , when it is done
Mohonin: actually we have already done it before, tp to dryken plane then myself finding way to labyrinth, then tp back to Home
Uadjet: Sounds good.
Uadjet: Okay, what else? Oh!
Uadjet: The plan is for each faction to have their own guildhall.
Uadjet: The Observatory is the home of the Applied Knowledge faction, for example.
Uadjet: Talad had someone make a building for the War Smiters faction.
Uadjet: The initial idea for the faction is: The War Smiters is the newest and promising academy in the arena, dedicated to the blunt weapon users.
Uadjet: I believe it's grown to be more than that, however. A role in society has been added to it, not just the physical whacking of things.
Thosor: How is one involved with a faction guild?
Anysu: So can anyone enter these guild halls? Or must you have a certain faction level to enter?
Uadjet: Well, the factions are similar to the factions we had in Legacy.
Uadjet: You know how you would get a bonus (or penalty) to a faction when completing many quests? That's what these are.
Uadjet: There are professional factions, religious factions, combat-style factions, magicl Way factions, and then the Octarchy and Criminal factions.
Thosor: As Anysu said, how do you qualify?
Uadjet: There are 24 in total.
Uadjet: Basically, you do quests for the faction.
Mohonin: Thosor, the faction you can find it in the last tab of stats window and your relation with the faction
Anysu: Yeah and can you ONLY get the faction pointss if use the hall not other quest?
Uadjet: So, essential trail is the crafting faction. Do smithing quests and you get faction and standing with them.
Gonger: Factions and faction points already existed in the Legacy version.
Uadjet: Herbalism and alchemy? That's the Care Takers.
Thosor: I understand that, do you have to be at certain faction levels to attend a guild hall?
Uadjet: Some things will be restricted to faction level. Like the improved repair kits. Those require a certain level of Eternal Forge faction to purchase.
Uadjet: As for entering the guild hall itself... I don't know. The Observatory is free to enter for all.
Uadjet: Maybe entrance will be a part of the faction's quest chain? The main chain, I mean. There will likely be side quests as well.
Anysu: Ehy I was wondering along same lines, can you only get faction points by going in hall and doing those quests?
Anysu: Or can you do quests outside of hall for those faction points?
Uadjet: That's not how it's worked so far. Most factions you get faction points by doing the little quests you find.
Uadjet: There may be quests in the halls themselves - it would make sense - but I doubt entrance will be required to start the quests.
Thosor: If you have a negative faction, do the doors slam in your face?
Mohonin: I think the question is what do we get if we can enter the faction guild hall?
Uadjet: Rewards for faction level will be things like the ability to purchase things that aren't available to the public, or to purchase things at a discount.
Uadjet: That's just an example, of course.
Thosor: I guess negative rat faction did not go to PSU
Uadjet: Sadly, no.
Uadjet: I did get asked about odd factions at one point. Maybe by Venalan? I gave negative rat faction after an event.
Uadjet: So you can see the hall in Talad's streams - 1488-1490 - or you can wait until it's added and I take you there in an event. :)
Anysu: Or why you would need hall if you already get faction points from quests.
Uadjet: It's a cool place that will probably have nice features.
Uadjet: There's a great spot to have tea.
Thosor: no ale?
Uadjet: It's a guildhall dedicated to people who like to smash things with giant blunt weapons. I assume ale is consumed everywhere.
Gonger: Great spots to have ale are everywhere.
Gonger: See? Great minds think alike!
Uadjet: :D
Uadjet: The work on Ylian F chain and plate armor is, I believe, complete.
Uadjet: Those will probably be added in the next release.
Uadjet: Talad is also working on adding other attachment points to character models. That will allow people to do things like have a weapon on their hip, or a quiver on their back.
Gonger: Will the Whisper bug also be fixed in the next release?
Anysu: Great question, Gonger
Uadjet: I do not know.
Thosor: yes, that is really bad.
Anysu: It and the mount bug thing.
Uadjet: The mount bug issue is proving hard to pin down. It seems to be happening at random. It must be caused by something, but we dont' know what that is yet.
Uadjet: It may be related to cameras. You've noticed that clicking on a mounted person shows the mount's name, right?
Mohonin: ya right
Thosor: I just caused a similar thing here a few minutes ago. I opened inventory, examined an item and I was flashed that nowhere login screen
Uadjet: The game could be switching from a player's camera to their mount's camera, and sometimes getting glitched along the way. Why the bug only showed up recently suggests it was related to something we changed, as I don't think we changed Unreal engine version recently.
Thosor: To get out of mounting bug screen, I open inventory, eyball an item, and then Inspect it, right click and come back.
Uadjet: I'm hoping drinking horns will be added as something that can be attached to the belt.
Uadjet: I'm looking at the list of streams to see if I missed anything. One of the titles is "Sequencer with choices" and my brain immediately went: "Minor Sequencer or Spell Sequencer?"
Uadjet: We're half an hour past the usual closing time. Any questions?
Anysu: Will the calendar be updated?
Uadjet: My schedule will be very busy in the near future, so I might have to miss some weekends.
Uadjet: I've added the market and Q&A times, but the calendar needs a kick to get them to show.
Anysu: Understandable. Dev meet and markets are also listed on calender though
Thosor: Thanks for the updates, and... other things.
Gonger: Uadjet, try to let us know a few days before, so we can get something running by ourselves.
Anysu: Hmm, we players have a chance then to try and come up with events... when Uadjet is away.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Thosor: When the Enkie's away, we will play.
Gonger: And of course it is perfectly ok to have busy schedule!
Uadjet: I should be able to let you all know at least a few days ahead of time.

General Discussion / New Dryken Plane - thoughts and discussion
« on: November 20, 2025, 08:19:34 pm »
Hello,

We now have a new version of the much discussed Dryken Plane. The structure is much simplified, so that it now seems impossible to get lost. Someone who gets lost there now will never make the way from Hydlaa to Ojaveda!

A few points still seem worth mentioning / discussing because we do not get a second chance for a good first impression:

1) It could be made a bit more clear what the player is expected to do. Maybe add one more popup with an explanation?

2) Why are not always real objects used, but only graphics? This can look very bad.

3) If you pass this rock on the right side, the scene will not be triggered.

4) This mini-scene seemed particularly difficult to trigger. Maybe the trigger space is too small?

5) These mini-scenes I triggered in the sequence given by the numbers. Can this be more streamlined, or did I do something wrong there?

6) I would like to repeat an idea I had before, but which went largely unnoticed / uncommented: Instead of only having this introductory Dryken Plane, which otherwise is unrelated to the game, use different versions with increasing complexity at different points of the general storyline. Thus it becomes more of a feature instead of a one-time unrelated thing. And all players who get past the quest Menita's Puzzle should also be able to handle the original version of the Dryken Plane.

7) Where does the name Dryken Plane come from? Nobody I talked to seems to know...

That's it for now. Please do comment and discuss. It is in the starting area / tutorial that we lose or keep new players!

Thank you for reading,

Gonger

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Damola: No question from me at the moment. Just an observation: It is possible to cast in lake. As I tried in the lake we had our event in Damola fell down and got damage.
Uadjet: You were standing in the water as you cast?
Gonger: That's a very good question, Damola. Also - should being in water not have some effect on water-based spells?
Damola: Swimming in the water, Uadjet.
Damola: But on casting it seems PSUnreal thought Damola must stand. And then she fell down.
Uadjet: Ahhh, swimming. I've not tried that myself. It's entirely possible that your character goes into the fishing 'pose' and then falls. I think most noticed yesterday that sitting or mantling while swimming sometimes takes you out of swimming mode and into running mode.
Damola: It appears to me PSUnreal then treated Damola as not swimming in the water anymore, but as standing in thin air.
Damola: And so she fell down.
Damola: Uadjet, in PS Legacy a char could stand in the thin air and as long as they did not move they would not fall down?
Damola: ? but that is not possible in PSUnreal anymore?
Damola: This would make the stalactite event thing we had in PS Legacy impossible to RP like we did back then.
Damola: Anyway, just an observation. Anyone any Q?
Anysu: That sit to stop swim was helpful.
Gonger: I think Uadjet's brain is rotating...
Uadjet: Yeah, in Legacy characters could Wile E. Coyote: You could stay floating in mid air as long as you didn't move. Or look down.
Damola: Yes, Anysu. But it is actually more like a bug.
Uadjet: The gravity in Unreal is a bit more perceptive.
Damola: Look down was possible. I did during that event in 2019.
Uadjet: I suppose the gravity in Legacy was like a T-Rex: It can't see you if you don't move.
Uadjet: I told you NOT to look down!
Anysu: Handy bug then if one were to find like chest under the water. So you could stop and open it.
Uadjet: Not because you'd fall, but because it was a long way down!
Damola: Haha, Uadjet, Damola did and was really shaken. See forum post.
Damola: Anysu, yeah, handy bug, I agree.
Uadjet: The floating upwards while in water... It can cause issues, but is it unrealistic?
Damola: Depends.
Damola: I believe if someone is diving consciously, they would do regarul movements to prevent floating up.
Damola: But if someone become unconscious they will float up I think.
Uadjet: I dunno. I'll mention it to Talad, as it does make underwater exploration a bit of a problem. Underwater dungeons would be fun, and swimming should be fairly smooth if we were to add one.
Gonger: It depends on the amount of air in the lungs.
Damola: I agree, Uadjet.
Damola: Realistic or not, that floating up is a bit inconvenient.
Damola: Also? I vote again for stronger Magic Light.
Anysu: Do like idea if you stop moving you would float to surface.
Uadjet: Running looks really good currently, especially the way characters now lean into turns. I love that.
Damola: Yeah, I love that too.
Anysu: Swimming just seems like I hardly am moving, And when you want to get back to shore quick, float up and swim to shore.
Uadjet: I recall hearing the Devs talking about movement years ago, and they were thinking about adding in racial modifiers to some forms of movement. Swimming and climbing, for example. I don't know if that'll ever happen, though. I do think swimming could be faster, especially on the surface.
Damola: I find swimming on the surface quite difficult. I find it difficult to either consistently look above the surface or below it.
Damola: Maybe? if there would be a little resistance in flipping between swimming and diving this would be easier.
Anysu: But then if you did float up when stopped moving, well that defeat remaining on ground beneath to explore.
Damola: But awesome that we actually *can* swim in PSUnreal. I love that feature.
Damola: Anysu, we already established automatic floating up as kind of inconvenient.
Uadjet: Yeah. Talad placed treasure chests in the lake for people to find. Actually, let me verify that before you go off searching.
Anysu: See there we need a way to 'stop' and remain on surface below to open that chest or even pick it up.
Damola: I am happy to have swimming and diving. I think it needs some refinements, but it is really good to actually have it.
Damola: Actually I think Gonger has a point with that in real life it is possible to manage some of that by volume of air in lungs.
Damola: Also? it might be possible to hold oneself to the ground.
Thosor: Lead boots...
Damola: However? I think probably cannot really walk on the ground like normal.
Damola: Unless you have heavy boots but then do you leave them on the ground to dive up again?
Resildren: did'nt i see some players walking in the lake?
Resildren: all i could do is swim?
Damola: Yeah, Resildren.
Damola: After attempting to sit for three times or so I was able to.
Damola: And others as well.
Damola: I think it is a bug.
Gonger: I was also walking for a while because coming from below I hit some piece of ground in a specific angle.
Damola: But a convenient one.
Gova: Using autorun while facing down kept me in one spot... kinda.
Damola: Ah, maybe that is a trigger, Gonger.
Damola: I am not entirely sure what triggers the walking on ground in lake "feature".
Anysu: I did the sit stand
Damola: I did that as well.
Uadjet: I've had it happen to me when I hit some ground and triggered a mantle action.
Damola: Maybe there are several ways to trigger it.
Damola: I fondly remember that using carpet to run through wall bug in Legacy PS.
Damola: Kind of miss that one.
Anysu: Can walk on air along side wall in Kada's if you go in back door, and move that way to railing,
Anysu: Done that a few times.
Damola: Hmmm, interesting.
Uadjet: New engine, new set of quirks.
Uadjet: Okay, so for the update: Talad's working on the Dryken Plane again, to make it clearer and more interactive.
Damola: There is a certain channel on YouTube where a guy does that to a maximum amount possible and game companies are basically sponsoring him the games so he can find bug in there
Uadjet: There are some new structures and puzzles he's working on, and he's planning new NPCs for the Dryken Plane.
Uadjet: Other than the eyeball thing.
Damola: Nice for Dryken Plane.
Damola: All what helps new players to stick around long enough to take part in some events and so on?
Damola: Eyeball thing?
Resildren: yep be nice to get the new players into the game a bit easier
Resildren: i'm sure we scared or frustrated many along the way
Uadjet: The thing you converse with on the floating islands.
Anysu: Eyeball thing is featured in that area and it speaks? I have not tried a new character so not sure.
Damola: Ah, that eyeball being in Dryken Plane.
Uadjet: Looks a bit like Hermaeus Mora's distant cousin.
Uadjet: Yeah. That, I think, is Vod?l.
Damola: I know you have been online quite a bit to actually help new players, Gonger. You told us so.
Gonger: True, that.
Damola: Thank you, Gonger.
Damola: While I was online so far now one asked in help channel.
Damola: Is help channel shown by default?
Resildren: on discord? yes
Anysu: The help channel connects to discord doesn't it?
Anysu: But is also seen in main though.
Gonger: Newbies have the Help channel activated by default.
Damola: No I mean in game.
Gonger: I think that was what Damola meant.
Damola: Ah, okay, thanks Gonger.
Damola: Yeah indeed.
Damola: Haha and I thought Talad may implement eye movement on our character models.
Damola: Anyway great news, so with next release good to test Dryken Plane again?
Damola: I wonder when it will be PlaneShift 0.8 :)
Uadjet: Not eye movement, but Talad has done some work on dialog animations.
Damola: Dialog animations?
Uadjet: In stream 1479 he loaded up some animations that NPCs will be able to use while talking. Players will be able to use them too, of course, but I'm not sure how it'll be added.
Uadjet: Yes?
Thosor: I wanted to mention I made a bug report of the whisper problem, thought it was already in there, but wasn't.
Damola: Stream 1479 ? consider that number. Impressive.
Damola: Yeah, I saw it. Well done, Thosor!
Thosor: Regarding towel, thank you Uajet for locating lost Hitchiker's towel in time for Towel day today. another question.. is
Thosor: When I went to fetch it from Miss Peckerly's pillows, I no longer hear her in the walls, has she succombed?
Uadjet: She's still in the Gug map...
Thosor: I must have dropped the towel the other day showing Gugrontid to a new player.
Damola: Oh? if Lady Peckerly went quiet, that is for sure a reason to have an event to heal her.
Damola: A quiet Lady Peckerly. Yliakum cannot function this way :)
Anysu: So any more on this dialogue animation? What will they be?
Damola: Will look whether she talks to me after the Q&A.
Uadjet: The dialog animations are head and arm movements.
Uadjet: I think it would be fun to have players start doing them automatically when typing in main, but that might not be possible or reasonable.
Uadjet: I'm not sure if facepalm/facepaw is in the cards. If that animation isn't perfect it'll be very strange and immersion breaking.
Damola: This really needs a rescue Lady Peckerly event!
>Anysu bursts into tears on Uadjet's shoulder.
Anysu: Sniff..facepaw or faceplam be nice..
Damola: Well yeah? I also wonder about race specific emotes? and some emotes I feel actually could break immersion quite a bit.
Damola: For example the dance emote is totally off. This is not a wild western game.
>Damola begins to dance.
Uadjet: Some emotes certainly could, but I don't think that's the case with the dialog animations. Those would vary somewhat by culture, of course, but the ones I saw seemed like normal movements people might make while talking.
Thosor: Maybe a more middle Eastern dance, bells on her fingers and bells on her toes.
Damola: I try to use some emotes in RP. Like shrug and follow me.
Gonger: Maybe the animations could be connected to verbs, like you type /nod with a text, and your character speaks the text while nodding.
Damola: But many others I have no idea when to use.
>Damola taunts everyone mercilessly.
>Damola shakes their head.
>Uadjet begins to dance.
Damola: Hmmm does not seem to work on a Derghir?
>Damola jumps around excitedly.
Damola: Any other news?
Damola: Or Q?
Uadjet: No, I don't have the same skeleton, so animations largely don't apply.
Uadjet: If you want to help bring new animations into the game, Mixamo is a great place to find them. I don't think they're adding new ones still, but there are some fun animations there.
Thosor: One cycle ago today the server (new) went down a couple days. has been solid since.
Ronasi: Real progress
Uadjet: That's all I have, so I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all at the next meeting in two weeks!

Uadjet: Dev Q&A starting momentarily at the Courthouse of East Hydlaa! Come and hear about the development of the game and ask any questions you might have. If you need a teleport to the meeting, just ask in Global or send Uadjet a /tell.
Damola: I wanted to give some feedback for harvesting. I really went on a tour today from Gugontrid to Listarindel to Amdeneir and then I went with Ptero to Ojaveda and from there towards Raurim.
Uadjet: What did you find?
Damola: My result was 10 gobo root, 10 night mushroom at the large mine near Amdeneir and 12 Glaboria near Eagle Gobble village.
Damola: With Glaboria I could harvest more cause I saw two places in vicinity. I think for the gobo root I would have found the other place as well if I took more time to look.
Damola: But all in all I wondered? that is not quite much.
Damola: For such a way.
Damola: I also looked a bit aside from path ways from time to time, but nothing.
Damola: However I stayed quite close to official path ways.
Damola: I quite like the new harvesting approach. However I tend to think it would be good to have more places where harvestable plants grow.
Anysu: Awe if I was on earlier I could have seen where those areas were to harvest. I have not found many
Damola: Yliakum is very vast? and Damola had quite the travel today, but still only found places for these three items.
Damola: Anysu we can go together one time.
Anysu: That be neat
Damola: Don't know whether others tried and what your experiences were.
Anysu: There are some plants around Camp Banished
Damola: Thanks for letting me know.
Uadjet: I seem to recall a lot of the harvesting resources being well away from roads in Legacy. If that's the case now, with this larger map, we'll need players to map locations, but that'll be hard without a means of sharing map locations with others.
Damola: Hmmm, maybe Damola's path way today went into areas that are not yet well developed map wise.
Anysu: That makes it hard away from road.. due to vastness
Damola: I remember Resildren saying there are a lot of harvesting places.
Damola: Maybe next times I try more the traditional PS Legacy path ways that may be more developed regarding their maps.
Mohonin: i tried feverfew near the pool of stealth, i found it wud let me do succesfull harvesting only 5 times then it depletes, but in that area there are 5-6 spots it spawns
Damola: Okay, Mohonin. Thats quite good. 5-6 spots.
Damola: I always found I could harvest 10 plants.
Damola: Then gone.
Uadjet: And as one despawns, another should pop up somewhere nearby.
Damola: With Glaboria I could pick a few more.
Damola: Maybe there could be some more variation regarding? 5 times and then gone.
Damola: In some places there might be more plants than in others.
Damola: So maybe have a variation from 5 to 10 times harvesting in one place, randomly chosen.
Damola: Or defined.
Damola: So maybe in a place one can harvest about 7-8 times and in another just 5 times.
Damola: I hope Resildren will read this, but I think I will point him to the protocol for the meeting.
Uadjet: I think that was mentioned before while Resi was here, and he did a ton of work on the current plant system.
Damola: Really I appreciate the new system, but I feel it could make use of some balancing in favor to be able to harvest a bit more without running for tons of times.
Anysu: Res was working on a location of plants.
Damola: It does not need to be limitless harvesting as in legacy, actually I like the better realism of the new system.
Anysu: Maybe a harvesting event would be helpful?
Damola: Yeah that as well. Hint, hint at Uadjet. :)
Damola: Well that is my feedback from actually trying to do a real harvesting tour. I hope it is useful.
Damola: Actually I have another Q, but first want to give someone else opportunity to ask a Q.
Gova: Hmmm. Maybe there's a stream I could find. I found the moved mines by watching old streams and seeing what the coordinates were. There may be something similar with harvesting locations.
Damola: Yeah, Gova. But actually players should not have to watch a 4 hour + stream to find plant locations.
Damola: Of course there could be some variety in how difficult to find plant spots. Some might be more rare or spawn at difficult to reach locations.
Gova: Nah, you just skip through the vids and watch for something that looks like a spreadsheet or editor panel with numbers on it.
Damola: Damola also follow the Irifon River for quite a while, leaving official path ways, but nothing there.
Damola: Anyway, if no one else has another Q? I would have another one.
Uadjet: Go ahead.
Damola: It is about Amdeneir mine. The large one with the roof top. I tried a lot of places but could not mine any ore anyway? Are mining locations implemented there already?
Damola: I went all the way down and tried to mine there. But also on the way down at several locations.
Uadjet: They are not currently active.
Damola: But I also saw now clear ore indications.
Damola: Ah, I see.
Damola: That clears that one up.
Uadjet: I have suggested that if the new city management system requires stone (as opposed to metal) that these places could be used for granite or marble.
Uadjet: That would give them a use, and bring in Masonry for at least simple items.
Damola: Good idea.
Damola: On the other hand you said Amdeneir is mostly about wood? but as I see it in the city, it has a lot of stone as well.
Damola: So would be fitting.
Thosor: The whisper function needs to be fixed, it really messes up trying to contact new players.
Uadjet: It's mostly MADE of wood, but the abundance of mines is part of the city's wealth.
Thosor: And no feedback of your own typing.
Damola: Hmmm? however as I looked there was also quite some stone? Like on the path ways between houses and in lower floor of houses.
Uadjet: I agree, but I don't know how much is involved in fixing it. It may require a new release.
Damola: I agree about whisper.
Anysu: That whisper is annoying..
Uadjet: Yes, that's true. The houses is mostly wood, but it is built on a stone foundation. And those walls sure aren't made of balsa wood.
Damola: I already asked in global. Drifters nowadays only eat fish? It would be fitting. Just wanted to ask.
Damola: Cause mine needed food but did not seem to take any food.
Thosor: Mine didn't want sand cookies, but the rivnak loves them
Damola: Rivnak last I tried eat almost anything.
Damola: Carrots, appled, baked apples, honey glazed apples, cakes, cookies, nut bread.
Damola: I believe even complete meals.
Anysu: cake, cookie and nut bread seems odd for a Rivnak
Thosor: How about ale?
Anysu: ohh never tried that.
Damola: But last I feed Rivnak and Drifter they ate almost anything. My question was whether that has been adapted.
Damola: I may just have misplaced the food, but I tried several places close to the mouth of the drifter.
Anysu: good question
Gova: We can test it.
Thosor: I think the ground terrain affects food placement.
Damola: I am all for adapting it. Aside from fish drifters may also eat algae. But an apple? Unlikely.
Damola: Thosor, that is a good hint. It was outside on uneven ground.
Gova: Anyone have some food that isn't fish?
Damola: Haha, Gova tries it here.
Damola: Ah, that clears it.
Damola: It seems Thosor is right about ground terrain effect.
Gova: Ate all three.
Anysu: good to know
Damola: Not like that apple?
Uadjet: So the detection for food seems to require it to be very close, at least on the vertical axis.
Damola: Haha, vegetable noodle soup was enough?
Thosor: Should have tried ale...
Damola: Don't have ale with me. But seems my drifter already has enough.
>You have been awarded item(s) by a GM
>You gained 1 pale ale mug.
Damola: It is correctly placed, isn't it?
Anysu: yeah
Damola: It has 50 energy and is 100 happy
Damola: So maybe good enough for now.
Anysu: maybe
Damola: Anyway, do not want to take too much time for this.
Damola: Anysu want to try ale?
Uadjet: Hey, we made progress on something! That's never wasted time.
Damola: Okay, no ale.
Damola: But nut breat and cooked carrots okay.
Anysu: No ale
Anysu: And not carrots
Thosor: how about groffels and yulbars?
Damola: Oh? which one did you try first? Maybe yours had enough already as well.
Anysu: I did nut bread and then ale
Damola: My drifter took one food and was done. Which is unusual. Rivnak usually eat quite some.
Anysu: It is at 100 now
Thosor: Yes, my pets only eat once, show not full for a long time.
Damola: Ah, so maybe someone need to try ale first.
Damola: So maybe hungry drifter eat ale.
Anysu: THE RIVNAK DRANK THE ALE!!
Damola: Haha, what a lively Q&A today.
Anysu: Likes fish also
Gova: As did my drifter.
Gova: It was a 300q crayfish, though. Not too surprising.
Anysu: That was a neat test!
Damola imagines a new book in library. From Gova, Anysu and Damola "About the eating habits of Drifter and Rivnak - a scientific study with a dozen of different summons."
Uadjet: As for news , most of the last two weeks has been about AI-assisted NPC voicing.
Damola: Ah, I bet due to a lack of voice over contributions?
Damola: I meanwhile saw quite some AI assisted short films and videos. Impressive. But there are still quite some glitches here and there. However? voices are quite good, if you ask me.
Anysu: Not crazy about the enki voice.
Damola: Glitches are more in the image generation / video part.
Gonger: Professional actors / voiceover artists are rightfully concerned about this, but we would not have been able to afford them anyway.
Uadjet: Yeah. There weren't too many player contributions, so Talad tried out the AI version that he's rejected before. It has advanced tremendously, and while still imperfect it is usable.
Gonger: So for us it is either volunteered amateur work, or AI.
Damola: Yeah, Gonger.
Gonger: Or a combination of both, of course.
Damola: Regarding AI it is very important to look closely at copyright issues.
Damola: Cause it depends on what data AI models have been trained with.
Damola: And not all suppliers are transparent about that.
Damola: But I bet Talad is very well aware of that.
Damola: However, speech synthesis is not actually a new approach that just arrived with the recent AI hype.
Anysu: Curious if we have voiced npcs, can you turn them off and use text?
Damola: I bet it would be similar like with Levrus?
Damola: Levrus has some voiced parts that are still displayed in dialog bubbles and NPC chat tab.
Gonger: Oh my god... Levrus singing!!!!
Anysu: Voice off would be a handy option.
Thosor: I have old phoneme chips used to make vowel and mouth sounds
Damola imagines Levrus with a guitar rocking about "my newest spell? oh well, well, well. It went to wrong and made big bong!"
Gonger: COOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!
Thosor: coal! coal!
Damola: Coaaaaaaallll? coal is so coaly! Coal, coal, coal.
Damola: Black like the night. Coal, coal, coal.
Gonger: That will break any AI!
Gonger: Damola, remember the quest "More Coal" where we discover that Levrus is a musical fan...
Damola: Faintly so.
Damola: But I remember Levrus babbling around quite a huge lot in some quests.
Uadjet: Oh, god!
Damola: Ah, yeah, I remember.
Damola: Where one had to choose the next sentence to sing in the right order.
Gova: Hey, I liked that quest! It had the best reward in the game!
Anysu: Turning it off the npc voice.. would the be an option?
Damola: Oh, I forgot about the reward.
Gonger: 1 broom
Damola: Ah? that one
Gonger: And Levrus even WROTE that musical.
Anysu: I mean if they spokes word may be wrong, where text  not do much
Damola: Anysu, I bet it would be like the current voice over parts in Levrus quests.
Damola: Spoken and displayed as text on screen.
Damola: Or did Talad said it would only be voice, Uadjet?
Gonger: Also remember those ladies in Amdeneir who practice singing.
Anysu: That is what I would like to know Damola
Uadjet: I think it will always be text, with voicing added on.
Uadjet: I'll ask Talad about making it optional.
Uadjet: I can't imagine Talad getting rid of the text.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Anysu: Thanks
Anysu: Especially if the voice has an accent, may not be able to make out a word.
Uadjet: Each race is getting their own accent, based on real word accents. I'm thinking the choice of accent is what Anysu objects to? Or am I misunderstanding what you've said?
Damola: I agree, Anysu.
Damola: Would always be good to read as text.
Damola: Also for rereading in chat log.
Anysu: Yes I did not like the Asian element in the enki voice
Damola: I am not sure how real world accents would match.
Anysu: It seemed they should be African or first nation people of America. Native americans
Damola: For example a Nolthrir like Damola would have some kind of more flowing accent, like water.
Anysu: Both cultures tribal histories like an enki and nomadic
Damola: However not sure what real world accent would match that.
Uadjet: I'll admit, I thought Native American for Enkidukai too.
Damola: I see.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Damola: My first association is still about cats with human like intelligence for Enki.
Anysu: And I mentioned this addressed to Talad on discord
Damola: But yeah, if you look at tribal like culture, Native American is a match.
Anysu: Or even African.
Damola: For dwarves there might be some real world matches in movies of the fantasy genre.
Damola: Ah, yeah and for elves like Nolthrir and Demorian there may also be matches in fantasy genre.
Damola: But not so much in real world cultures? I'd say.
Anysu: Then that is my opinion. Not sure I'd have much sway on what Talad does. Thus I would also like to turn voice off so I do not get a voice I do not connect with an enki when I speak to enki npc
Damola: I understand, Anysu.
Uadjet: Oh, the dice game has grown more complex. NPCs can now bluff and fold.
Damola: I am also not sure whether matching to real world existing cultures is a good idea? it could be interpreted as an offence to any real world culture.
Damola: I wonder what happens when Talad tries to build AI models into the server.
Damola: But I bet the server may not be powerful enough for somewhat larger models anyway. AI is a challenging topic and needs very careful consideration.
Anysu: Although I think any native peoples would like thier voice perserved or used respectfully given thier past.
Anysu: Complicated dice game.. if complicated seem not something ssomeone would wantto spend time on?
Damola: Maybe. But AI vendors have already been sued for blatlantly copying voices of real world celebrities.
Damola: Did not really interact much with any mini games so far.
Anysu: Me either.
Uadjet: I wonder if at least a few races could have custom accents based on their languages on the wiki. DIfferent languages have different sounds, of course, so that may influence how words and spoken in game.
Damola: Yeah. But also for some language there is not much in the wiki. Like for example Nolthrir language. Just a few words.
Damola: Also? if a Nolthrir NPC speaks Nolthrir, I need subtitle translation at the moment :)
Anysu: Found some book with many words.. is how we put together the alphabet bool Migg and Anysu
Gonger: Well, expanding those languages could be either very easy or very complicated...
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Damola: With Nolthrir language some stuff was removed due to copyright issues.
Uadjet: I know I've tried to figure out what soulds underwater races would use. All I can think of is clicks  and other hard sounds that might travel further in water.
Gonger: I am a trained Linguist, but with no experience with artificial languages. I do have knowledge about natural languages that could be useful in this context.
Gonger: Simple example, pronouns are so important that they are very short in almost all languages: Me, I, Du, Er, lui, il, etc
Damola: Uadjet, but it could also be softer sounds like with our whales. But yeah, Dolphins do make clicking voices.
Anysu: So ai voice and dice game. Anything else since over time Uadjet?
Anysu: I did not know that about you Gonger.
Uadjet: Talad did take another look at the Dryken Plane, so comments on that are still welcome.
Uadjet: Other than that, i think we're done.
Gonger: Actually I studied Computational Linguistics, so I know about both computers and languages.
Anysu: That is neat, Gonger.
Anysu: Dryken Plane we could do a whole another hour on that!
Damola: Okay, thanks a lot for the news Uadjet.
Anysu: Good to know. Damola
Damola: So if someone wants to RP a bit, like exploring the vastness of Yliakum and finding harvesting spaces or different interesting spots or crazy new dungeons or mines or what have you?
Uadjet: I'll see you all here again in two weeks, and until then maybe give an event or two a try!

Hello guys,

One word from the Yliakum Chronicler:
I did not realize how far I had fallen behind with the Q&A Proceedings. As mentioned before, this year has been challenging health-wise, but now that everything is under control, I will catch up as quickly as I can.
See you later today,

Gonger

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: So, if you have any questions please step up  to the lecterns in front of the stage, and I'll start by giving a brief rundown of what's being worked on behind the scenes.
Uadjet: Since the last meeting Talad continued his work on city management.
Uadjet: There's a city management window in the supporters tab on Discord that's giving me serious Civilization flashbacks.
Uadjet: It's just a sample, but there is a lot of detail on the status of the city, including what resources it needs
Uadjet: And one bit I found interesting is that at least in the pic Hydlaa has a population of 1955.
Gonger: Which brings me to a question...
Uadjet: Yes?
Gonger: We have mixed-races marriages. What about the children? Half-breeds?
Gonger: I think that was an interesting question... :)
Resildren: meaning the models? or the concept?
Uadjet: Yeah, that's one where I'm not sure of the official answer.
Gonger: The concept. Models, yeah, good point as well.
Gonger: Maybe we should leave this for the moment as To Be Defined...
Resildren: that could be challenge, concept wise It's been RP'd in the past iirc
Anysu: I thought it was the child of a mix race would not have features of both races, but would be either race of either of it's parents
Anysu: Pretta had a ylian and a enki mate at different times. And rped it that she had four young. Two were enki and two Ylian.
Gonger: That would be the most simple way, of course, and I don't have a problem with that.
Resildren: as long it's got nothing to do with ulbers, i'm good with it
Gonger: One of my teachers at the University once said to me: "I cannot answer that question right away, and that means it is a good question."
Anysu: Modeling a mixed race character would probably be difficult to create.
Gonger: We would need a ton of new models.
Gonger: What Anysu said makes sense to me.
Resildren imagines a green dwarf with wings
Gonger: One of the Gods tosses a coin, and that determines what the child will be like.
Uadjet: It's about the only way it could work, though I can't say it's official. We do know that Diaboli+Elf=Ynnwn, at least in theory.
Thosor: or a Ylian with a tail
Anysu: Yet we do not have Ynnwn characters you can play anymore..
Uadjet: Not for now.
Anysu: Do not believe enki tails are prehensile.
Mohonin: speaking of kids, what wud be the minimum age of a kid in RL who can play this game?
Uadjet: I just went to look up tails for Diaboli and Enki. The Enki page doesn't even mention the tail!
Gonger: The game is meant to be equivalent to PG-13, if memory serves well, Mohonin.
Anysu: And if I recall right the Diaboli tails do not even show up on the models
Uadjet: So 13 up is fine. 12 and lower with supervision.
Mohonin: oh ok then 13 yrs of age  and above can play this game, Thanks Gonger Sir
Gonger: If children play, I strongly suggest to add the fact that they are young to the OOC description.
Anysu: Which seems odd if you can put a tail on an enki model why not on a Diaboli model?
Anysu: But then I am no 3D modeler.
Uadjet: I don't know. They don't really match the description of Diaboli. They're short Ynnwn. Maybe there's a hope that more appropriate models will be made later.
Anysu: I'm still waiting for a Ylian female model to be seen wearing armor.
Uadjet: That... may not be as far off as you might think.
Gonger: Hear, hear!
Anysu: That be nice. Anysu made really nice armor for Kat but she can't be seen wearing it..
Uadjet: I can say no more on the subject.
Resildren: can you also not say anything on robes being expanded?
Resildren: my demorian robes are soooo drab
Resildren: makes me feel like a potato sack
Uadjet: Uhhhh... There's an AI-generated robe in the general section on Discord.
Anysu: I really fancied my enki robe in Legacy better then psu. But that is just me.
Uadjet: Yes, Thosor?
Thosor: Just noticed the #supporters tab is not showing in Discord anymore.
Uadjet: The link to the post about Kran robes: https://discord.com/channels/378244034348449792/378244034348449794/1292564331287810108
Anysu facepaws and rolls eyes at robe before listening to Thosor
Uadjet: Or you can search for the text: "AI generated robe with gems, but needs to be adapted to a kran."
Resildren: looks good for a kran
Uadjet: If you're a supporter it should show up. Maybe ask about it on Discord?
Thosor: Ok, couldn't find info a couple mins ago  i will check later, Thank you.
Uadjet: As for robe colour, I think having... 7 or 8 different colour schemes would be nice. One for each Way, and one or two generic.
Anysu: Would like that, colors for Ways.
Resildren: we do have tailoring under the jobs tab, maybe it could be incoperated into the making of the robes?
Gonger: I see the Supporters tab, Thosor.
Uadjet: That would be nice. Even being able to change the colour of the default clothing would be huge.
Thosor: Gonger Patreon shows still supporting, hmnnnn.
Anysu: Sara can change hair color. An npc that changes clothes color could be a thing,
Gonger: Thosor, on Discord you are NOT shown as supporter.
Uadjet: Have you tried reloading the page or client, Thosor?
Thosor: I'll check it out later, thanks, just don't want to miss anything. I saw the armor, etc posts on Patren app.
Anysu: Any other news Uadjet?
Uadjet: Yeah, Talad is currently working on dice games.
Uadjet: You'll be able to gamble with NPCs (well, a few I think) and he's working on a poker-but-don't-call-it-poker dice game.
Anysu: Isn't there already a gambling npc in Hydlaa?
Uadjet: Yeah, but it's just text. This will have animations.
Uadjet: And that NPC will surely be one of the ones with the game.
Uadjet: I haven't given out dice boards in a while, I just realized.
Uadjet: Oh! And there will be sleeping!
Mohonin: so i guess there will be a sleep animation, is it?
Uadjet: Talad has some sleeping animations that he can add, and he ran a poll in Discord not long ago asking about increased regenration for players using a sleeping roll and/or tent.
Anysu: Will new models be needed for that?
Gova: I've relied on relaxing sleep and healing flash for so long I forgot that recovery is an issue.
Gonger: Whenever gambling comes up, I have to think of Paajah... Hehehe...
Anysu: Paajah is a storyline I would not mind seeing again.
Uadjet: I'm not sure, Anysu, but tents and sleeping bags are likely models that are in packs that were given out free by Unreal at some point. The just need to be scaled for each race.
Uadjet: That could happen. It's a good character.
Anysu: If it does I have another alt that might work bit better for that storyline.
Uadjet: Heh. I'll give a tip if I bring Paajah back, so you know who to bring.
Uadjet: Any other questions?
Anysu: Thanks about mentioning a tip.
Gonger: Memory refresh: Paajah was the leader of the group who ran the illegal gambling hall in Ojaveda. The group was brought down, but she escaped...
Anysu: If new dice gambling game was implimented before a return of Paajah be handy for a newly opened underground gambling place.
Uadjet: Last I checked the entrance to the gambling den was missing or underground. I'll have to take a look and see if it can be used.
Anysu: Oh maybe that is a part of storyline... Paajah came up with that new dice game as a herald to her return...
Gonger: Surely not the same spot...
Anysu: Be a way to explain why it appeared in world.
Anysu grins
Thosor: Oh, there is a book about upcoming drifter races floating near the marketplace. Behind a house
Gonger: There is a book like that on the door behind me.
Gonger: And it has been there for a long time.
Thosor: Same, I think...
Gonger: There were two races, I think, before the people behind no longer followed it.
>Uadjet picked up a book
Gonger: One race was in Ojaveda.
Uadjet: Got this one. I'll get the one near the market once we're done.
Uadjet: And speaking of being done... We are!!!
Anysu: Thanks for the update Uadjet and Gonger
Resildren: Thanks Gonger ,and Uadjet for the updates
Mohonin: Thanks for the  dev q&a, ill leave now, cya all later
Gonger: See you around. Don't forget to leave the room before quitting.

I really do not understand why you keep coming back to us with this.

For what I hope will be the last time:

PlaneShift is and always will be non-commercial, Fully Free to Play, with no fees whatsoever.

So, pretty please... with sugar on top. Leave us alone with this.

Thank you,

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Gova: Drat. Forgot to get a blook. BRB.
Zrak: A blook?
Gonger: Book with a typo?
Gova: Yeah, a book. For the species rights thing.
Damola ponders "I wonder whether my message to Uadjet was enough."
Damola: So what's up? Any news any Q. Preempting Uadjet's official intro.
Uadjet: Well, Talad has gone very deep into the city management system.
Mohonin: ya, by mention of glyphs, any idea how soon some spell will be implemented with new glyphs key, bird, fly?
Damola: City management system?
Uadjet: It's the tribes system on steroids, though Talad might prefer a different metaphor.
Mohonin: Oh then if Talad Sir is on that thing then the glyph spell will take time
Resildren: it'll help empting out our bags of tria and fortify the towns
Uadjet: It's a complex system, but the player will be able to contribute to the health and happiness of a city or town, and receive some benefit(s) in return.
Damola looks bored "Taxes? Really?"
Gonger: Make your town more beautiful.
Uadjet: And Res is right. It's a bit of a resource/tria sink, and in return  you get glory and respectability.
Resildren: with fortifacations
Damola: So not? exactly? taxes?
Mohonin: sounds interesting
Zrak: Voluntary donations instead of taxation?
Resildren: yes
Uadjet: It's voluntary, and if you're in a guild the guild gets credit.
Damola: Haha... Then Damola can boost a certain guild's credibility
Uadjet: But part of it is building fortifications. One screen I saw lists these things:
>Uadjet dropped a Barricade High 1.
Damola: No idea what to do with all of those tria anyway.
>Uadjet dropped a Barricade High 2.
Uadjet: I had a few of these at the "Storm the Castle" event a while back.
Resildren: and catapults
Damola looks at those fortifications "Beautiful? Not so much."
Zrak: Little fire may turn them to ashes
Damola: But might help to defend.
Uadjet: There are also stone walls and floors, and those are just the things I can spawn. There's a lot more in the database. :D
Uadjet: Food will part of it too, last I checked.
Damola ponders "Or what about a smaller versions of those nice globes that have been in Yliakum since PSUnreal. I think one quite near to Amdeneir."
Damola: A little globe.
Damola: Food?
Uadjet: Towns need to eat too, not just defend themselves.
Damola: How would food play into it?
Damola: How would it be implemented? Public gardens?
Damola: More public fruit trees?
Damola: But really interesting idea to put into the game. I look forward to it.
Damola: I like how Talad goes more and more about extending the game play.
Damola: After having fixed a ton of issues.
Uadjet: For food... Harvesting is easy enough. I wonder if it would be possible for players to plant seeds as well.
Uadjet: I don't know if Talad is planning something like that, but for Listarindel there's some potential farmland across the road.
Damola: That reminds me to make more use of sending letters for example. Maybe we could use that functionality inside an event somehow.
Damola: Well what about some public garden space where citizens and other people can contribute by actually planting stuff there?
Resildren: probably in time for me I'm looking forward to when we can build homes
Damola: There could also be private gardens near guild houses. A bit like in Stardew Valley without duplicating a whole farm simulation. Just throwing in some ideas.
Thosor: guild gardens that are subject to theft, and ways to defend them.
Damola: Actually I would love that and a way to explore. Some player changeable public gardens.
Uadjet: Private garden spaces would be nice, but where would they be placed in a city? Outside a city maybe, or inside under a skylight.
Damola: Cause frankly, currently, ways for players to make the cities their chars live in their own are limited.
Damola: Of course one needs to be careful there to avoid abuse.
Damola: Well in Gug there like would be enough space for that with many guild houses. But Hydlaa or Amdeneir. Difficult. It could also just be some plantable pots.
Damola: Maybe for Amdeneir it could also be some mini fish pond. Maybe just for decoration even.
Uadjet: If we had little plantable pots I could help with those. Guildsimple and guildamdeneir both have areas under a glass ceiling, so they could add gardens inside.
Uadjet: Thosor?
Thosor: Has the whisper tab problem been discussed earlier?
Damola: Not yet.
Thosor: OK
Damola: Any new insights?
Damola: I think Uadjet said back then it has been reported?
Uadjet: Yes, Talad is aware of it but I think the solution is client-side and will require a new release.
Damola: I see. Hopefully he fixes the other chat related issue that is always scrolls to the end when a new message is posted, even if you scrolled up to review some earlier chat.
Damola: I opened a text editor yesterday during the event to scroll up in chat to review older talk.
Thosor: I open the chat log occasionally
Damola: I think I reported this one and I think its my own chat related bug report Talad did not yet fix.
Damola: Thosor, sure, but I should not have to do it just to scroll up a bit to review previous chat in same game session.
Thosor: I agree.
Damola: I wonder whether Talad reviews dev Q&A protocols posted? I bet he does.
Thosor: is annoying if a lot of talk going on.
Damola: Would be good if he did for all the interesting ideas we speak about here.
Damola ponders "Amazing how far PSUnreal has come."
Uadjet: I hit that one myself, trying to scroll up to find teleport coordinates I've used earlier. :D
Damola: Yeah.
Gonger: Pinky promise to catch up with the missing Q&A summaries tomorrow or Tuesday.
Damola: No pressure, Gonger. I am happy that you do these!
Thosor: Also doesn't scroll to last line in some views.
Resildren: Gonger did you need some part of the logs for yesterday?
Damola: Yeah, right, Thosor. I am not sure whether this one is reported.
Damola: I did not report it, cause I have not yet a clue on when it actually scrolls to the last line or not.
Gonger: Resildren, no thanks, I made it to the event after all.
Thosor: I got back in the cabin when ony a couple were there, before the crowd returned.
Thosor: The wet cabin of yesterday.
Damola: Will Nolthrir cabins of Arden look like this?
Damola: I bet part of the city would be completely under water?
Damola: And there would be larger "houses".
Damola tilts her head "Any other news?"
Resildren: I could see an underwater viilage down in Emerald lake
Damola: Did anyone make more experiences with the new plant harvesting?
Uadjet: Well, that was a serpent gobble tent repurposed for Nolthrir. I think most Nolthrir homes will have a more coral look to them. A few small bulidings were made a while back, as i recall.
Uadjet: but an underwater village just inside the C-shaped island would be amazing.
Resildren nods
Merianna: There are two underwater in the emerald lake, but one can't enter
Resildren: twwo villages? or caves?
Damola: Coral shaped would be an oppurtinity to use a limited set of those beautiful colors of Listarindel, the blueish and turquoise tones including some new ones.
Damola: All of those blue-green colors.
Mohonin: any new items in plan for mining, like amersyt, turquoise etc ?
Damola: Oh that new polymorph glyph in my inventory. Was that reward for yesterdays event?
Uadjet: It was, Damola.
Damola: Thanks, Uadjet!
Uadjet: Well, Talad's got players providing materials for walls, as far as I can see, and we'd need stone, not metal.
Uadjet: So maybe masonry could pop its head into the game?
Resildren: be nice it's listed under skills
Resildren: I would like to see wood working as well)
Uadjet: That would provide some use for the quarries in Amdeneir.
Uadjet: Maybe one could be built outside of where Araloth will be.
Thosor: Isn't that a sawmill in one of the towns?
Thosor: Homestead, I think, on the river.
Resildren: we have stone out in the wild that shows to be of use but not harvestable
Uadjet: There are two mills in Delving. There's the one on the river, which I sort of assumed was there to help turn raw wool into thread. Then there's the windmill, which is used to mill grain.
Thosor: Ah
Thosor: What are Oja windmills for?
Uadjet: Homestead... Does it have a mill? It has a place for leatherworking and dyeing (sp?).
Uadjet: Grain.
Thosor: Prefer water power for grain.
Thosor: Otherwise wait for windy days...
Damola: There could also be some mill powered by magical energy.
Mohonin: for milling grains  we need to harvest wheat
Thosor: Ah, the Oja units are magic fans to cool the desert.
Mohonin: to make flour
Uadjet: Yes.
Thosor: Or milled seeds like flaxseed
Uadjet: There is a free sawmill model that I think looks pretty good. I was going to suggest putting it on the Emerald River near Amdeneir since the city is made of wood, but there's no really good way to get up from the river to the city.
Thosor: An up and down sawmill would be good.
Resildren: that's why we added carts
Damola: Amdeneir is made of wood?
Damola: Not completely, I'd say.
Damola: Anyway we passed the hour.
Uadjet: In that case, thank you all for coming and I'll see you again in two weeks!

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Damola: Karzela how did you do that rotation while sitting?
Gova: Holding down the middle mouse button?
Resildren: hold down center mouse , but know it takes a good rotation till you move
Damola: Hi! I tested new plant spawning harvesting. It works nicely.
Uadjet: Ah, good.
Damola: I tested with Gobo root and after 10 plants harvested the spawn disappeared.
Anysu: I did that with apples
Gova: 10 plants harvested? That's one go, with a high skill.
Damola: What I would prefer is some kind of progress indication. Damola as a herbalist probably would not harvest all the plants in a place.
Damola: But it was all plants there and after 10 plants all plants gone. And another spot not far away there. Again 10 plants, then all plants gone.
Resildren: most should just give five harvests till a respawn
Damola: Would be nice if after a harvest a plant at a time is gone.
Mohonin: where did they respawn? did you find it?
Resildren: you found a lucky one
Damola: It was near Gug the Gobo root and the other spot was not far away.
Karzela: So we normally would have 40 plants instead of only 10 with a high level herbal skill?
Anysu: Plants I still need to find.
Resildren: from what i've seen it used to be unlimited?
Damola: Is that planned that plants go incrementally so you can see how much of a spot is harvested?
Thosor: Do they respawn in the vicinity of the depletion zone?
Anysu: Did we get hops yet?
Uadjet: It was unlimited before.
Damola: Thosor, yeah.
Karzela: Like ore for instance ;)
Resildren: there's been hops
Damola: I have no problem with a limit. But I would like a progress indication on how far the limit has been reached.
Resildren: well you have it
Anysu: Would like to know where hops are.
Damola: Resi?
Resildren: when it dissapears it respawns ;)
Damola: It is either all plants there or all plants gone.
Damola: I'd like to see plants disappear incrementally. That's all.
Anysu: Damola has a point. Yes, an indicator showing how many left not a bad idea
Damola: Otherwise fine. One can discuss the exact limit, but otherwise fine.
Gova: Hmmm. I'm already getting fish at about 1/30th to 1/40th the rate I used to.
Resildren: be hard to set the graphics to be incremental
Resildren: from what i've seen
Anysu: I tried the rotate, doesn't seem to work for me.
Damola: Nice, did not know that middle button trick.
Thosor: Any new carnivorous plants?
Damola: Resi, I understand. Still would prefer that :)
Uadjet: No, just the gorweal. :)
Uadjet: Don't try harvesting them.
Resildren: blackroot if you *^% him off
Thosor: They harvest you...
Karzela laughs
Karzela: They are rather beautiful from a distance
Thosor: no rotate for me
Resildren: it takes a good bit of rotation till you'll have movment
Resildren: a good 20% till you're body moves
Uadjet: So, over the past few weeks I think most of you have seen Listarindel.
Karzela: Yes, nice unique look to the area too.
Damola: It looks beautiful.
Damola: Really nice design.
Damola: I quite like those colorful stones and windows.
Karzela: So do I
Mohonin: There's a pond on the way to it, have seen it only once
Anysu: colorful mosaics
Gova: I think that's near a cinnabar mine.
Resildren: not sure on apple though
Gova: Oh, the pond is very nice.
Mohonin: ya, and there's a fishing platform also there
Gova: Top quality unicornfish, crayfish, and ide.
Resildren: on the road between amandier, and the outpost
Damola already found another best hiding spot in Listarindel.
Damola: Uadjet, you wanted to tell more about Listarindel?
Damola: Found guard NPC. Is there any other?
Uadjet: Just that it needs NPCs and decorations, and that player input on those is welcome. :)
Damola: Hmm, okay.
Anysu: If there is tavern, needs a barkeep there
Damola: Is that center building more of a meeting hall or a temple?
Resildren: there is the big house there?
Damola: Buildings all empty so far as I found, and none really good for a tavern, or am I mistaken?
Damola: Interesting also? all buildings can be entered within game map.
Uadjet: I think it's both and more. Small towns don't have many large buildings so they take on multiple roles. I'll wager any village event is held there.
Anysu: Makes sense
Damola: Not like in Gugontrid or Hydlaa where most buildings are in separate map.
Thosor: Small huts good for small business like instant shoe and horn polishing.
Damola: Hmm, I see.
Damola: Yeah, Thosor, I agree.
Damola: But I think some kind of tavern would be good as well.
Thosor: A well stocked one.
Resildren: ahh maybe they'll put one up on murder hill?
Damola: Just imagine Gonger running out of ale. No fun.
Resildren grins
Gonger: Dreadful thought.
Mohonin: Sir, today i saw a scroll sort of paper in Harns, the content was fasinating, a pic of a diaboli lady and the notice was to find her, but that alone what i saw was a system notification that the graphics is downloading
Damola: Oh.
Mohonin: So how does those paper scroll work?
Uadjet: That is the new drawing system.
Anysu: Did some make a drawing up because of our event yesterday?
Resildren: you can make it off line and add it to the scroll
Mohonin: I haven't checked it but last i tried to write something in a scroll paper and it says its not implemented
Thosor: cool
Anysu: Add it how? Does it someplace explain how?
Uadjet: A very talented Kran took a simple image from the Diaboli page and turned it into that.
Resildren: when you open the scroll it has a prompt to upload
Resildren: but no naughties, they're checked ;)
Mohonin: and same with music scores. it says can't find any midi file in some folder i forgot the name
Anysu: Do you click that on page and it send you to what you machine hd?
Resildren: yes
Anysu: I must try that.
Thosor: So it is local to your machine like quest notes?
Uadjet: It starts on your machine, but then gets uploaded.
Thosor: ah
Mohonin: i found a site where we can get  free midi music, its url is freemidi.org, i'm trying you use those midi file to make a score
Resildren: ohhh  thunderstruck?
Anysu: Migg or I, I wonder if we can do that to fix our alphabet books.. yet they have pics and text.
Uadjet: It'll take a little while to get used to the new drawing, I assume.
Uadjet: I don't know if the standard books can take images or formatting, yet.
Mohonin: Sorry, moved the discussion from Linstradel town to these drawing and music paper
Resildren: i think it's only the drawing scrolls atm  you can buy them at the library
Karzela: Hmm...so there is no hope of all our music scrolls being converted for use in Unreal?
Anysu: That be so sad Karzela
Uadjet: Well, the information in the scroll could be converted to midi, I think.
Thosor: bummer
Mohonin: Talad Sir told me a software to manage audio, its Audacity, but i still have to figure out how to make midi file with it
Damola: Audacity IMHO is more about editing samples. It is no MIDI composer unless I am not up to date with it anymore.
Karzela: Is there a way to view outgoing replies to whispered messages?
Damola: There probably could be a conversion tool old music scroll to midi file, however someone would need to write it.
Damola: Karzela, not at the moment I think. It's bugged.
Damola: You can view incoming whispers by having them send to main tab, but whisper tab is broken.
Uadjet: I think there are multiple tools that can do the job. I google music xml to midi converter.
Damola: According to Gonger bug already reported.
Anysu: I have not seen that Karzela. I type I whisper and it appears in a chat bubble, but not in whisper or main.. it is not seen
Uadjet: Yes, as Damola mentioned whispers are now bugged.
Karzela: ok, thanks
Damola: Uadjet, is PS Legacy using a standard format? Music XML? Was not aware of thus a format, but there are a ton of file formats, you cannot know all of them :)
Damola: *such a format
Anysu: I mean you can see what comes to you in a whisper in main, but not what you sent after you send it. I hope bugg gets fixed
Damola: That's exactly the issue, Anysu.
Mohonin: lemme try Anysu
Thosor: And whispers appear in chat and chat bubbles.
Damola: Whispers are so silent they do not even appear in whisper tab anymore :)
Karzela shuckles
Karzela: Good one, Damola
Uadjet: Just go into options, to interface, and then scroll down to Chat Text To Main Tab. Make sure Whispers is selected. Then whispers will show up in main, but still not in the whisper tab.
Thosor: makes it hard to reply to a whisper.
Uadjet: Hmm. Maybe PS isn't precisely music xml. I do that the old PS music converter, though I don't know how much it had to do.
Resildren: be nice if it stayed in the whisper tab even if one choose to send it to main
Karzela: Oh, I like that idea Resi
Damola: I will set them only to go whisper tab once it is fixed.
Damola: Normally it is cat like typing detected. Countless videos on that one.
Anysu: I hope Talad can fix that server side instead of waiting for new download.
Thosor: I got double click ok when my name mentioned, but I get no clicks when chat updates, used to be a light click.
Anysu: Sorry, any new news?
Damola: Yeah, news block from Uadjet still missing.
Thosor: How we missed TP then...
Uadjet: Well, the last few weeks were mostly about getting the new plant system in.
Thosor: snowbuds?
Damola: Any other news?
Thosor: did I miss mount bug?
Uadjet: It's great when it's cold, but when it gets close to room temp...
Damola: Otherwise we have completed the hour I'd say?
Uadjet: Yes, the mount but is very hard if not impossible to replicate.
Damola: Oh, I think we did not talk about mount bug.
Anysu: Yet not had too much new news this hour.
Uadjet: That's going to make it challenging to find a fix.
Damola: I did not experience it yet.
Thosor: happened on way here, is why i was late
Gova: I did, once.
Gonger: I only had it once, and next time I tried it was ok... So what Uadjet said...
Damola: Had about 5 mounts/dismounts before dev q&a
Resildren: i checked my logs and nothing there, wondering if Talad can debug it on the server?
Damola: No issue. So not sure how to trigger it.
Damola: Haha Gova tries to brute force it.
Thosor: I had to examine, not eyeball a couple things in inventory, then fell, then recovered where I left off.
Resildren: you need to not thin about it before it bugs
Gova: There must be an extra element to trigger it.
Anysu: Only appeared with the latest download.
Gova: I think I triggered it by accidentally right-clicking on myself while riding.
Damola: Always stop before dismount.
Resildren: I triggered it dismounting
Damola: Haha, in PS Legacy we used dismounting while jumping to have char fly a few meters through the air
Thosor: I had dismissed a pet to get a rivnak, i think when I mounted rivnak, it happened.
Gova: And to get onto places we could not otherwise reach.
Gonger: Let's just observe this, and try to get more data...
Damola: Gova, exactly. Exactly. :)
Damola: Like a certain rock near the explorer's camp.
Damola: Well now different map.
Damola: Has the mount login screen bug been reported?
Damola: I cannot report it, did not happen to me so far.
Mohonin: i have recently found out that i can't cast magic spell with fishing rod equipped in hand
Uadjet: Yes, it's been reported.
Damola: No mounts at the smithy and no spells while fishing :)
Uadjet: Equipping a fishing rod and reel changes the interface. That's how it enables the ability to interact with bodies of water.
Damola: Considering it: Compared to first version PSUnreal really went a long way.
Damola: A lot of stuff is so much better now.
Damola: Anything else to mention?
Uadjet: I can't think of anything at the moment. Any more questions?
Damola: No Q from me.
Anysu: I do
Damola: Anysu?
Thosor: no questions, Your Honor.
Anysu: I think Res mentioned this on discord about voice chat.
Anysu: Does voice chat work in ps here?
Damola: Never tried it.
Uadjet: If not, I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Have fun playing (and maybe testing out the new plant system?) and I'll see you again in... three weeks this time. Extra Sunday this month, and all.
Gonger: And don't forget to show your support to the cause of the semi-intelligent races.
Anysu: So voice does or does not work in game?
Thosor: time changes should be over
Damola: Ah, right, Gonger. Petition to Uadjet it was?
Gonger: Or /whisper, or on Discord, yes.
Anysu: Sorry.. did I get a reply to my question??
Gonger: https://www.reddit.com/r/planeshiftrpg/comments/1jhhdft/the_yliakum_times_event_recap_referendum_march_08/
Uadjet: Ah, yes. I've had some petitions, but need more!
Uadjet: About voice chat? I've never tried it.
Anysu: Yes
Uadjet: I have a microphone, but never opened it.
Gonger: I made three already, but will try to think of more. I had a blast writing those three.
Anysu: So noone knows?
Uadjet: I did hear in chat that it might not be working. Can anyone verify?
Anysu: Bit of a shame, it save alot of time.
Anysu looks around
Karzela: Is it too picky to ask if player names could be alphabetized when typing /who?
Anysu: Not in discord, in game. There is an option for voice in options.
Anysu: So noone knows.. okay
Mohonin: The chat in game is what Talad Sir calls voiceover, we players to recoed the dialogs of NPC and upload the file
Resildren: I saw misha and she was trying it but i was off when she tried
Uadjet: I have not. I did order a microphone, and I can see it from where I am, but I've never used it.
Gonger: Don't forget to leave the room before quitting. That would also be a nice bug to fix...

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Dev Q&A!
Uadjet: Sorry I'm so late.
Anysu: I'm just crouching here picking locks
Anysu: And pondering if that apple on my table is a tribute.
Zarre: Could be ammo too
Uadjet: It might be.
Uadjet: It's almost dead center, and I don't think any of the Vigesimi were standing there yesterday. Amidison was supposed to, but she kept teleporting away.
Gonger: By far the most popular table in our world.
Uadjet: So, some of you might have noticed not updating the game today.
Uadjet: I know none of you updated, but honestly I just click play unless the game stops me.
Uadjet: So there's a small issue that needs to be fixed, but it should not take long.
Uadjet: So I can stand here and talk about all of the things that might have been here, but aren't.
Uadjet: Not yet, anyways.
Anysu: Talad mentioned the drawing element
Uadjet nods.
Gonger: Talad also had the very good idea not to try and drop the update just before yesterday's event.
Anysu: Glad Talad did not plan to do it before event.
Uadjet: So there's that coming. Drawing.
Uadjet: The other thing that Talad's been doing is working on the Diaboli village.
Uadjet: A few existing NPCs might move there, just to get things started. I'll try and add a few others quickly enough.
Uadjet: Maybe some Dermorians and Nolthrir, for the day that Ynnwn return.
Uadjet: So, expect an event or two there pretty much as soon as it appears. I'm not afraid to rewrite and event with less than an hour to go before it starts. ;)
Uadjet: Thosor?
Thosor: Is there something in flyspray regarding getting the 'click' sound back when chat changes?
Thosor: I thought I put something in long ago.
Gonger: Your events are much appreciated. Yesterday was a very interesting one.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Resildren agrees.
Uadjet: Are you talking about the audible notification on tells, or something more generic?
Thosor: yes, or just the main chat
Thosor: Good when window is open over ps
Uadjet: We had that option in Legacy, of course. Hmmm. I see a report of the inability to set the target for a tell by clicking on a name in the buddy list. That was filed by you, I see.
Thosor: That is different, but handy also.
Uadjet: I don't see any reports about that under your name. I also tried keywords, but 'chat' and 'click'  doesn't show anything.
Uadjet: I will admit, I often don't see that one of the other tabs has lit up right away.
Thosor: Ok, I didn't know quite how to word it
Thosor: I'll try again, thank you.
Resildren: be nice if one could right click on a players name and have an option right there to /tell?
Resildren: be it in the buddy list or even on targeting the player in game?
Uadjet: Had to launch Chrome to get my username/password right. Why the heck do I have eight accounts on HydlaaPlaza.com?!?!
Anysu: It is all those NPC you do Uadjet...
Zarre: My original account poofed and I had to make another one a few years ago.
Anysu: I'd like when you start to type a name in a chat window, it would auto-fill whole name.
Uadjet: But two of them show random alphanumeric usernames. I NEVER do that!
Thosor: seconded!
Uadjet: Heck, even Talad has commented on the long names  I give some NPCs.
Uadjet: Larramaarhe and Irinerreth, specifically. :D
Thosor: And the change of color when your name is mentioned.
Anysu: oh yeah that also, Thosor
Uadjet: Yes, those were good features. I don't think they'd be too hard to add.
Zarre: Especiallly now since we can't stop the main chat from popping to the latest comment when you are trying to catch up.
Thosor: All faded in rememberance when the pushups started.
Uadjet: Yeah, the pushups were... less than ideal.
Uadjet: Now that they're fixed, we can go back to griping about the small stuff!
Anysu: Yeah thatpopping to latest message is bothersome. I read slow.
Thosor: Especially when group and main are combined, like I have it.
Uadjet: It makes it hard to scroll back. I get that when my eyes are off chat briefly to mess around with gm commands.
Zarre: I believe it
Thosor: I have to switch to local log if afk at all to catch up.
Resildren: yep that's when we throw you a wrench, keeps you on your toes
Anysu: And if you want to scroll back to reread or check something from before, after a time, all earlier chat messages vanish.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Gonger: What do you mean, Anysu? Messages vanish?
Uadjet: There's a limit to have many lines are saved. I think you can alter it in settings.
Anysu: What Uadjet said
Anysu: Did not know you could alter it?
Zarre: Even having a scroll bar on the right side of the window to make the scroll-up fast would help a little.
Gonger: Ah... I think I set this one quite high...
Uadjet: It's under Interface.
Resildren: the max history slider?
Gonger: Strange, it was set to "n"...
Gonger: But now I must select a value between 10 and 500.
Anysu: mine was 'n' also
Zarre: Just assumed the 'n" stood for number
Thosor: n here
Thosor: if not, i dont get timestamp
Anysu: I adjusted slider in max history. I will see how that adjusts things.
Uadjet: So we've got some issues with chat. I think most are minor, so maybe not that hard to add.
Gonger: Speaking of Interface, what is "Enable Hardware Cursor"?
Resildren: and i hope someday we get the shortcut tabs added
Anysu: yes what is enable hardware cursor...
Gova: I need another.... 5 banks of shortcuts, minimum.
Zarre: Yes, at least 5. More would be even better.
Gonger: According to google, hardware cursor can be used to accelerate mouse usage, if I understood that right. I am not very good in anything hardware-related...
Uadjet: The move towards minigames and clicking on the environment would lower the need a bit. The crafting redesign reduces the need for shortcuts too.
Gonger: Give me a command line, and I am a happy Dwarf!
Zarre: We no longer can have language shortcuts or make notes. At one time I could say a few things in any language thanks to my snortcuts.
Resildren nods
Uadjet: Yeah, I don't think there's a minigame planned for that...
Resildren: I just thru the concept on the idea tab in discord
Uadjet: We can still petition for more shortcuts.
Uadjet: In Legacy there was the ability to import shortcuts from a file. If we had that, we could do banks of shortcuts that way.
Zarre: Perhaps, I've asked a few times since the change to Unreal.
Resildren: that would be great but yeah we'd need to tab them less we loose more screen real estate
Zarre: Hmm, we still can't type any notes in a shortcut either. That was helpful.
Uadjet: hello
Uadjet: Okay, I did that with a shortcut.
Zarre: Nice
Resildren: added a note?
Zarre: Any idea how many more characters could be added?
Uadjet: It's kinda a note. You can type whatever you like in there. There may be a character/line  limit.
Zarre: Notes may not always be wanted in chat either.
Uadjet: You don't need to use /say. ;)
Zarre: I could open up my Enki shortcut and see many greetings or on EnkiRace see all the races at a glance.
Uadjet: Hello
Uadjet: A man walks down the street, he says, "Why am I soft in the middle now?
Uadjet: Why am I soft in the middle? The rest of my life is so hard
Uadjet: I need a photo-opportunity, I want a shot at redemption
Uadjet: Don't wanna end up a cartoon in a cartoon graveyard"
Uadjet: Ahh, it defaults to /say if you start a line without a command.
Resildren: is there a null key one could use?
Uadjet: Hello
Resildren: say a period?
Uadjet: Hello
Uadjet: Hello
Uadjet: . A man walks down the street, he says, "Why am I soft in the middle now?
Resildren: all my shortcut tabs are full atm
Uadjet: Yeah, a period just has you start the sentence with a period.
Uadjet: I keep one blank for test purposes.
Uadjet: I found that /tell uadjet worked and only I could see the note.
Zarre: That's a surprise :)
Uadjet: Maybe a few Reminder: {Insert topic here} could do for a time.
Uadjet: But this is now quite late. What ideas do you all want put into the Discord tab?
Mohonin: i remember this utility to click someone and start chatting in /tell mode
Uadjet: We had notifications on tell/chat, highlighting lines with your own name, maybe a toggle for auto-scroll...
Anysu: yeah those
Zarre: or an old-fashioned scrollbar ^ ^
Zarre: One we can lock in place if needed.
Uadjet: Any others?
Resildren: the tabs for the short cuts but i just put that one in
Zarre: Some way to drastically increase our shortcuts with notes we can see. :)
Zarre: Very useful for an ongoing roleplay
Resildren: adding the notes back on the buddy lists
Uadjet: Would a book work for notes, or is misplacing it too much of an issue?
Uadjet: Ahh, notes on buddy list. That was a nice one.
Zarre: Yes...that too. It was simple at add an underscore after the players first name to type a note after.
Resildren: need a comfortable way to cut and paste the dialog
Anysu: Yeah add notes to buddy list.
Gonger: Well, even Editing the buddy list no longer works.
Resildren: there is a edit button on the buddy lists but seems inactive
Anysu: The autofilling in of a name when you start to typ a name.
Zarre: Not unlike the guild window option buttons. They need work too methinks.
Zarre: Couldn't change the MOTD in guild today.
Uadjet: No?
Zarre: nope
Gonger: Buddy List: Add / Del work, Edit does not work.
Zarre: I see a white window in guild instead of the current MOTD
Resildren: might mention that Talad while working on the drawings today actually managed to open an exisiting sign, so in time all the ones that are up will be back i service,... one he debugs a few issues there
Gonger: If you click Edit, the text is still there, but in very week colour, Zarre.
Anysu: Great to hear Res
Gonger: And the MOTD needs to be max 200 characters.
Zarre: I see no text but managed to highlight it.
Anysu: I tried to delete someone from buddy and got message do you really want to delete this person...
Zarre: Thanks for the tip
Uadjet: Did it say something like "from the list", or was it asking if you wanted to delete the actual person
Gonger: Zarre, editing is definitely possible, I just did it.
Anysu: "Are you sure you want to delete and then gave player character name from list'
Anysu: *from buddies I mean
Uadjet: I'm not sure players should have the power to delete each other...
Zarre: I changed the default gamma to much darker and can still barely see any text.  Must just be this old PC's settings.
Anysu: Just deleteing them from buddy list was what I tries
Uadjet: But again, we're well past the hour, so let's call it a day. Conversation can continue on Discord, or on the forum.
Gonger: Zarre, as I said, the text is shown very weakly for me as well.
Zarre: Probably a simple fix for Talad...hopefully. :)
Gonger: As usual, do not forget to leave the room before quitting. This is one more bug that we would love to see gone...

Uadjet: This is where we discuss what's going on behind the scenes, and you get a chance to ask questions or make suggestions.
Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Mohonin: Sir, i have a suggestion about music
Mohonin: Sir, i recently found this site --> https://freemidi.org/ but not yet registered and downloaded a midi music file as i'm not so good with music and sounds and i'm afraid i may bugg up the system. So in this DEV Q&A just wanna say, those who are good with music, can try the midi files from the site mentioned and make interesting scores. And why i am telling to try it out is cuz once i have heard Talad Sir said in PSU version only midi sounds will work for music/the scores/the music paper... hope i cud explain it :P so it will be awesome to check it out. Thanks!!
Uadjet: Yes, the music will need to be in the form of a midi file. We can covert the old files (xml) to midi, I think. Not in game, but there are online converters.
Anysu: So do want those old scores converted
Mohonin: no, just want to be able to play music
Anysu: I hope could have both.
Mohonin: How does it work? for eg. i have a midi file, i get 1 blank score from library and then try to edit it, will we get an option totake the midi from our computer to the score?
Mohonin: did anyone try this way to make music and did it work?
Uadjet: I haven't. I'm not gifted musically, but I'll try it out this week.
Mohonin: ya, then i'll take the risk and try it, Thanks
Uadjet: Okay, if you have any questions or suggestions, please line up at the lecterns. Meanwhile, I'll give a little update.
Uadjet: For the last few weeks Talad has mainly been working on Diaboli architecture.
Uadjet: There was some Diaboli art that's been in the back of a drawer somewhere for many years, and Talad has pulled it out to turn it into a Diaboli villiage.
Uadjet: There are multiple buildings with similar styles. If you haven't seen any of the streams, I really recommend taking a few mines to check them out.
Uadjet: they really have their own style.
Mohonin: ya i have seen a bit of the stream
Uadjet: Diaboli should be fun to write for.
Mohonin: what is this 'write for' that you just mentioned?
Uadjet: I was thinking about writing quests and to a lesser extent knowledge areas for Diaboli NPCs.
Mohonin: oh i see
Mohonin: That wud be great
Anysu: Where would their villages be located the Diaboli?
Uadjet: I think NW of Hydlaa, maybe N of Homestead.
Uadjet: But I'm guessing based on old maps.
Anysu nods
Uadjet: So there will be quite a bit of work going into making the village, and then there's adding in things like furniture, stables, randomly placed barrels, etc.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Uadjet: Player input will be very welcome. Talad does ask for input during streams as well, so if you can spare the time to watch you can help Talad decide what things should look like.
Mohonin: Uadjet Sir, is it possible to take charge of a guild and do some guild management, with GM power?
Uadjet: It is possible to petition for leadership of a guild that you are in if the current leader has not been online for... the rule says two months. I thought it was longer.
Uadjet: It also helps to have support of the other currently active guild members.
Mohonin: oh ok Thanks!!
Uadjet: So file a petition, and if you can ask other guild members to do so as well saying that they support the change in leadership. Once I get those, I attempt to contact the current guild leader.
Gonger: Mohonin, did we not talk about that a couple of months ago?
Gonger: We, as in you and I.
Anysu: Be hard to do that if there were no other active guild members to ask.
Uadjet: I take that into account. Part of the GM Webconsole is a page for each guild containing last login information. If nobody else has been online recently, I take that into account.
Gonger: The small player base is still a problem.
Gonger: It is really hard to get PlaneShift promoted on MMORPG websites, because we do not really fit in anywhere.
Gonger: We are FFP (Fully Free to Play), and we are truely RP-oriented.
Gonger: A niche product.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Gonger: Well, I still have an arrow or two in my quiver :)
Mohonin: Gonger Sir, some where i have mentioned a site named hotrpg.com, have you visited that site and saw what it offers?
Gonger: I did, and I was not exactly impressed.
Mohonin: oh ok
Gonger: Is that the name? It no longer seems to exist...
Mohonin: and i got another site where they want to host the wiki, i'll give you the site name just check it out
Uadjet: There's a twitch channel with that name.
Uadjet: No content, though.
Gonger: But, yes, such links are always welcome. Damola for example pointed me to an interesting German site for free games, and I dropped some information there.
Uadjet: Ahh, that's nice to hear.
Mohonin: check out https://drakorpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Drakorpedia_Wiki
Mohonin: this has the info of another game but as i cud not go to its home page so i gave you this link
Uadjet: I think that new players will stick around longer once the can't-move-after-character-creation bug is fixed. Talad did write a fix, it's just not live, apparently.
Gonger nods at Uadjet.
Gonger: I know it takes some work to create a release, but a killer bug like this IMHO is enough to justify a release.
Anysu: Thing is our player base is small. Someone joins to rp, yet find few online to rp with?
Gonger: True! Which is a circular problem...
Anysu sighs
Gonger: I wonder whether I should open discussion about mailing ancient players again...
Uadjet: That could help, though discussing it here would only help if Talad were present. Maybe in Discord?
Mohonin: about mailing old players, i have heard in another game that EU has a law for such spamming of about 10 Euros
Uadjet: We're still missing the players that don't have a discord account, but Talad is very good at responding there.
Anysu: There may even be ancient players on discord, but just lurking, not participating.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Gonger: Informing people about a game they used to play is not really spamming. Also remember that we would send a maximum of two mails.
Gonger: Aye, there are lots of lurkers on Discord. I have no idea WHAT they are lurking for. I once asked the question, and nobody answered.
Mohonin: ya i understand that, but what if the cyber police don't understand it
Gonger: Which cyber police?
Mohonin: i don't know in other countries, but in our country theres a dept. for cyber crime in police station
Mohonin: and if the recipient of the mail make complain to police then there wud be a great problem
Gonger: I find it hard to believe that many people would be upset to be reminded of a game they used to play.
Gonger: More upset than about real spam they receive.
Uadjet: Yeah. People send out millions of emails wi4th suspicious or outright malignant intent. We're harmless. :D
Mohonin: ya it looks like innocent act, but who knows if a problem crops up
Gonger: The Evil Spammers from PlaneShift who not even ask for money. Big problem.
Anysu: Some of those e-mails of oldies may not be even used anymore. Some returning players have mentioned that on discord.
Uadjet: Yes, that happens a lot.
Anysu: So no ancient players may even see such a message.
Gonger: Well, we would not reach all ancient players, of course.
Gonger: I seem to remember the number of 300,000 accounts.
Gonger: If we reach only half of them, and if of those 10% have a look, that would be 15,000 visits from ancient players.
Gonger: Just playing with numbers a bit :)
Anysu: Live chat in discord voice with Talad might garner interest like a dev meet but in voice.
Mohonin: number sounds good, but actually doing it may have the problem i mentioned
Uadjet: I think it would help.
Gonger: Mohonin, it would not be spamming, since THEY registered with US in the first place.
Gonger: We did not hunt for those email adresses.
Mohonin: thats what the other game says but then he started to face the prioblem. this problem we can't actually say spamming but something like forced email
Gonger: Give me some links about this case you are thinking of. I will check this.
Gonger: You can give them to me on Discord, for example.
Uadjet: Okay, so we're past the hour - by a good margin - and I see nobody at the lecterns, so I think we can bring this meeting to a close.
Mohonin: the game name and url is https://usa.tycoononline.com/ you can enter the game and ask around for this problem
Anysu: Thanks for the updates Uadjet and Gonger.
Mohonin: Thank you, Uadjet Sir and Gonger Sir
Gonger: I'm not giving them my mail adress. They might spam me....
Uadjet: Have fun playing, and I'll see you at the next Q&A in two weeks!
