General Discussion / Kids playing PlaneShift

My nieces and nephews live 2000 miles away. I'm looking for a game that we can play together online. I have a Mac, so the options are limited, but PlaneShift looks interesting.
My nieces and nephews are 10-13 years old, so I'm trying to figure out if/how I can protect them from random DB's that might try to talk to them in a multi-player forum.
They will pretty much only be playing when I play, and their parents keep a close watch on what they do when they are online, so they will be supervised both online and with someone physically looking over their shoulders from time to time.
I guess I'm not sure what questions to ask at this point. I won't recommend the game to them until I'm sure we can keep an eye on them. Your thoughts?
