Wish list / Re: Map Mode
« on: January 16, 2013, 03:20:10 pm »
Just to add my two cents.. I try to think of Ps taken as a real life view point for my character. So I have always enjoyed not having a mini map and only getting those couple of starting maps when making a new character. But this is of course just my personnel opinion. I know of a few different people who have managed to make some amazing maps and other cool looking trinkets using the scrolls. Most tend to use an out of game program to make whatever it is they want then transfer the data in game so it shows when looking at the right scroll. They manage to make some particularly cool looking things from this. I myself or Naira at least tries to make some wilderness herbal location maps. That I have sold during markets. I have only ever used the scrolls in game program to make these and they are very time consuming to make one. I want to be able to have a set for every "wilderness" map one day but they are quite long to finish just one. I have only ever managed to map out so far the roads from Hydlaa to Oja. Figure it is a good start as well as you never really run into a new player asking how to get to Grug before they have at least made their way to Oja.

So really before this becomes to long. There is the possibility to have maps in game. Make them, find them, Role play to find out some names of people who might have made something amazing already. If you want to find out who might have some maps already made best advice , Rp those questions. Also if you have trouble finding your way around without a minimap. Use that as inspiration for rp. Don't force role play but something like getting lost easily sounds like a perfect trait to explore rp venues with and for a large variety of other players.

 Wow looks like so much fun ! Sorry I missed it now. Such a creative idea for an event, hopefully next time rl demands won't factor in and I'll be able to make it. Awesome job to everyone organizing this  \\o//

For myself it required a lot of testing to figure out the correct new configuration for my computer settings. Just real quickly I have windows7 ,intel core i3, of course 64bit, graphic card is an Ati radeon HD from the 5000 series with 1gb and adobe 11.4 . But in the end what worked for me the best, was going to the resolution 1280x768 and to also change the aspect ratio from 4x3 to 5x3 while also enabling full screen. With that magical mix I managed to get an almost perfect fit with my screen and the proper sensitivity spots for the buttons and for the mouse to work properly this way as well. No matter how much I played around with the resolution along with enabling and disabling full screen. The button spots were always off from where they should be. But changing the aspect ration is what really corrected it for me and allowed me to find my new proper settings.

Here is the most recent one of me. Forever changing my hair color/style. Next stop will be black with purple highlights. I've been toying with the idea of dressing up as Lillana Vess for Halloween and I can never make slight changes to my hair. Always has to be drastic.

Likes:
- Character development !! I want there to be a reason for every action I play out with my character. And more often then not I will have a reason, Naira might not be so comfortable with out right answering a why question but there is always a reason for her actions.
- Long drawn out conversations with no real direction. I like seeing how actions and reactions to subtleties in words play out. Especially when meeting someone new. You never know what will what is a sore spot or vice versa for that person.
- Details Galore  \\o// I love finding a super long description, whether or not I even talk with them, I just love finding that detail filled description and diving right into. I rarely rp with strangers for IC reasons, but I have read almost every description that ran past me or ran over me with a rivnak.. gotta keep a list of those pedestrian manglers.
- Getting a song to sound pretty nifty with the in game music composer.
- Rp that is just drowning in walls and waterfalls of text. I put a lot of time and thought into my character Naira. With that I want it to show. If I said left hand and not just a hand .. yes there is a reason dun dun dunnnn. :detective:
-Finding Rp out and about the wilds. It is easy to walk past the smiths or the tavern and see if there is someone but i have always found those extremely random encounters the most entertaining.
- /harvest ... with a sickle ! an ax just looks dumb.

Dislikes:
-Acronyms , I hate them. Especially when you are new. You are treated like a leper for what one means and more often then not those who love to use solely acronyms have delusions of grandeur about them.
-tl;dr  I honestly had no idea what this acronym was till I played this game and it is sad. You are playing a text driven role playing game genius. I realize it is not everyone's cup of tea to have reasons and story driven character development and details piled onto every sentence. But I have yet to find an acronym as offensive as this one is to me.
- modern terms used IC. example SoandSo  calls TheirFriend with their cellphones. Seriously, why even play a game with a given time period if you are going to walk around using slang and modern technologies ?
- Players who enjoy being trolls. If I could I would build a bridge for each and everyone of you to have and hold and cherish for your very own. But I haven't figured out a way to open a portal to the multiverse yet, little alone how to trap you on the other side.

In-Game Roleplay Events / Re: The Gods Must Be Angry-DEBATE

Well, I'll have to say is I'm glad I found a thread that is meant for the recent killings popping up in Hydlaa. My character Naira has no intention in staying around Hydlaa while such events are going on. She keeps her head low when such things are going on. But as my RL me, I'm interested in seeing where it all goes. Plus side I have some tidbits to give me clues as to when things may be getting fired up or cooling down. So that Naira can run about the city of Hydlaa if for even just a PS game night. So all in all I would like to conclude. Bravo to those taking part in this rp, whether it is reacting to the events or organizing. And to those of us who play characters that would not get involved for whatever reasons that may be, well maybe I'll have an extra chance to running into you while we steer clear of Hydlaa.

But specifically to all the investigators and body part distributors, please do keep up with adding bits of information here on where the bunny trial goes !

Chapter Two: The Reunion

The fog was thick as duppong jelly. The branches on the trees looking more like that of knobby arms reaching for victims to pull into the white clouds. Surrounding a handful of houses almost eclipsed within the billowing haze. Even with the dieing night the obscurity of the smoke remained. Nothing detoured the confident stride of the Dermorian. A soft jingle followed her as the straps and buckles of her leather armor clapped together from her march. Breathing in deeply, wishing to keep the mist of the dawn within her, as she looked about the desolate village. There could be no more then five rooftops she concluded as she reached the central square of the town. A mischievous smile growing on her lips at the thought of a race among the fog and peaks of the small homes. A soft applause raises from her hands as she begins to lose her train of thought into day dreams. She was picturing it, clear as crystal. The jugglers would be perfect skipping in out of the wisps in one corner, while the flame eaters stationed at the opposing corner. The ring leader barking out commands from the center. The parade of beasts and trained animals weaving out and about. The elven lady holds out her arms straight as arrows as she pretends the cobble stone under her feet was nothing more then a thin wire. A deep sigh escapes her as the clouds of imagination lift from her mind just like the heavy fog was now quickly dissipating. The quiet village would soon awake. She turned searching for the correct building. If growing up in a traveling circus had taught her anything it was that no matter how small the city or large the kingdom. There was always a tavern and within it's walls the promise of another days adventure.

Would she find anyone worth adding the act to the family business she wondered as she began to practice the recruitment speech. So many times before she had heard her father recite it. It had only been a couple weeks since she split off from the troupe. Her parent's first real vote of confidence, letting her leave alone in search of quality performers. "How strange all the windows are boarded up"  It was only a fleeting thought as she pushed open the doors of the bar and yet if she had remained more vigilant she would have noticed it sooner. But it was already to late as she pushed her way into the darken tavern, She quickly began to cough on the thick smoke inside. A mix of a smoldering fire without a vent and the smoke pouring from the many masked pipe smokers lining the counter or filling the seats of the tables. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness and the pain subsiding from the initial impact of the toxic smoke, she could feel the many gaze of the patrons of the hovel. " Right into a pit of snakes " she concluded as she cursed herself for her credulous overconfidence.

" You're late, Wench" the voice came from behind the counter. She inched closer to get a better look before being hit with the booming voice again. " And I thought I made it clear in the letter, My humble customers want to see more skin from the help. That's two strikes already Missy" said the burly Ylian. He stood behind the counter and was the only clearly visible face besides her own among the hunched crowd filling the alehouse. His left eye was covered with a dark red patch hiding part of the grisly scar crackling like lighting from his forehead down to his chin. He rubbed down the surface of the bar as he stared through her with his one good eye. The proprietor wore a simple brown tunic with the sleeves cut off from the shoulder and black pants. There was a rusty cleaver embedded into the surface of the counter, that he would use to swat at any daring hands reaching for a free pint. He pushed a tray full of mugs towards her as he barked " Now get to it servant girl and don't drop these or that will be your third strike. " He looks her over with a smug look before adding " And then I'll have to let the wolves take care of you". A loud round of howls and applause erupts from within the rathskeller at the owner's words. He points her in the direction of the table and returns his attention to the swine sitting in front of him.

The lass swallowed her pride in a gulp as she took hold on the tray " Now is no time for heroism " She thought to herself. The elven maiden was grateful that the mistaken identity had at least allowed her a few more moments to elaborate an escape plan. She tired to take stock of the interior as the parade began, taking a full tray of tankards to the sweaty bandits sitting around the tables and back to the counter for more. Each rotation increasingly more difficult as quick feet would dart in front of her or hands push only wishing to trip her and relish in the outcome of her final mistake. Soon her attention was only on the obstacle course of criminals and the thought of her time that was quickly dwindling without an escape route being formulated.

Then the walls of the tavern reverberated with the Ylian's voice " All right Lass, now take this tray to the benefactors upstairs " He points to a scrawny spiral of a staircase hidden behind the bear like man. " An' best to not look them in the face, Girl. They are not as kind these scoundrels" The boss pushes the tray towards her laden with a couple full bottles of wine and  three fine silver chalices. The Dermorian carried the tray with both hands carefully up the uneven stairway till she was face to face with a slightly jarred door. "This is my chance " she thought as she balanced the tray against the door frame pushing a hand into a pocket of her leather armor. Retrieving a small package she opened it , drifting it in front of her nose. When the tell tale signs that signaled that she chose the right pouch, It was quickly emptied into the bottles of wine. The dust was a soft brown that only faintly smelled of mold. The elven woman knew it would not add any flavor and only hoped the strong liquor would cover the scent. It was after all only a quick acting sleeping drought and not that of a deadly poison. "Even if they can taste it, the effects should take hold before they resist it" the girl thought. There was no telling what was on the other side of the door but she guessed a room of three men was easier to take care of then an entire floor of thieves and just maybe there would be a side exit in the upper floor room.  Keeping her eyes to the floor as she knocked on the door , now ready to roll the dice with her haphazard plan. The voices within did conclude her presumptions that there would be only three men. However, there is nothing in all of Yliakum that could of prepared her for the melodic voice of the Nolthrir.

" Naira !? How .. What are YOU doing here ? "

With wide eyes , the Dermorian looked up into the face of her long lost childhood friend of Kenzi. There was no hiding the look of shock on both the girls face's as they stared from across the room at each other.

In-Game Roleplay Events / Naira's Story
« on: May 27, 2012, 07:02:26 am »
Okay I just want to start off by saying " Hi to everyone" I haven't been playing this game for very long, but i'm quickly falling love with it and want to become more immersed with PS. So I would like to start off by writing the background story of my character Naira Leondres. I do plan on keeping this post active with my current and future role playing stories as she progress's , but for now I'm going to start with her background which starts with the disappearance of another. So for the first bit of this storyline is all OOC. The whole background story line for Naira happens on the lower levels of Yliakum. So when she does arrive to the Dome, any information and updates I make from that point in the story will be more current events. Also I'm always open for random rping in game and...ya, Just gonna mention .. as you can tell ! I'm long winded and ya so the Background story will be in installments ..

Chapter 1 :The Engagement

Her hands were shaking as walked through doors of Kada-El's. She looked about to see the first floor was empty, but the voice of her fiance carried from the basement. Picking up the side of her robes she hurried around to the basement stairs. Stopping short, as Allelia came walking up the steps. The Hostess carried a large jug and her warm smile. The young Nolthrir curtseyed as the bartender passed her, the smell of alluring red liquor filling the air. There at the bottom of the stairs her soon to be husband was sitting with his back turned towards her , he was speaking to an obvious friend but the Nolthrir payed her no attention. Sighing deeply as she reminded herself why she came to see him. She held tightly to the sides of her robes with each hand and she quickly stepped up behind him.

"Love, i .." biting through her words " You need to take these."

Firstly she pressed the ruby encrusted hilt of a dagger onto his lap. It was still draped in a simple black cloth. Then she pulled out a sack hidden in the many folds of her robes. She placed it on the table next to him. Finally, while keeping her composure she twisted a simple gold ring off her finger and pressed it into his palms. The mixture of confusion and sorrow washed over his face as he looked down to see it was indeed crowned with the Trayus crest. The exact ring that had made her so happy to receive not even a weeks past was silently stabbing his heart as it was returned to him.

" Kenzi ? Whats going on.." He looks again down at the ring flabbergasted.

She holds her finger tips over his lips , hushing the Xacha before he can say any more , with a glimmer of a smile she tries to reassure him, knowing he must not follow her. " It's all right Vilthis, I .. i.. Just need you to hold onto these for me.. uhh, I know it's strange, just trust me." Before he could so much as blink, she lightly kissed his lips for the last time. Knowing his rigid politeness would not allow him to leave his company abruptly. Thus allowing her a few moments ,if fleeting, before he could follow. She turned on her heel and quickly escaped out of the tavern into the alleyways behind the place.

Now panting as she raced through the maze like tunnels of the sewers, she could not afford to lose any more time. Her pace slows as the robe gathers the rotting sewer water. The young Nolthrir begins to rip off the layers of the robe as she begins to struggle more under its weight. She wears a tight set of leather pants and cotton tunic , that begins to peek more as she continues to tear the layers of the robes off her. Dispatching of the mess of dress and fabric in the gutter she looks down to her right forearm. Some of the black ink had smeared but the magic spell was still holding the map true.

Her thoughts blurred of the last few days as she raced downs stairs and winding tunnels. Like a get away train, from receiving the first letter from her father. Disapproval yet again the threats for her to return to the forth level. To the first contact with the three Masked Man. She was leaving Jayose's after another long day spent within the pages of dusty books. The streets were empty except for the hallow echo of her skips. Being half a step from the front door before they pulled her back. Her screams muffled, her eyes blurred, only Their whispers in her ears. Is it wrong to thank the gods for the greed of killers ? Who knows, better they wanted gems and cold circles then anything else. They bargained Vilthis's life even with his guaranteed death already payed in full.

It was the stench that finally brought her mind back down to the sewers. Choking her as she reached the end of yet another tunnel. Facing the end's wall with both palms she pressed on it , searching with her fingers in each crevice. Pushing every thought of what had been crawling on that wall out of her mind. Clunnk ! There, a small hatch opens above her head a thin braid of rope dropping from the black whole. She double checks her belt the promised prize tied tightly. With one last sigh she begins to pull her self up. The pace was slow even for a Nolthrir's, with each new inch gained the only thing keeping her going was the thought of Vilthis's safety. Closer still she climbed till she reached the open arms of the Masked Men. The three of them more immersed in splitting up the gems she brought then explaining how it was they were to reach the lower levels from outside of Hydlaa's walls. The only glittering in their eyes was the thought of the pay day once they finally reached her fathers door on the forth level.

I tried many different times but i was never able to login into the Bugtracker , Nor did i find any explanation on how to register, but none the less here is the bug i found.

While Harvesting with the command /harvest on the patch of Blue Cohosh Root on Oja road 1 , with a successful harvest I would receive the msg that I gained practice points in Mining and not that of Harvesting, because with each successful msg being few and far between for me on this plant , I have not been able to determine if the points do end in the Mining skill or the Harvesting skill. Especially after I had a server crash while harvesting I have been unable to get a single success since.
