You need to drag the Planeshift folder from the dmg into your application folder and then run the game from your application folder. Since the dmg is a read only hard drive image you can't update when you are running from the folder on the dmg file.

Thank you!
I've done that before I first ran the game.
The issue's the README_osx only serves to confuse me further. The first line it said 'All user configuration files should be located in <Home directory>/Library/Application Support/Planeshift/' which's extremely insane.!~!

Mac gamers will find these problems to be a constant pain in the ass inconvenience. No, you can't update. Instead, you have to cancel the update dialogue and click "Repair". Once you're done (it may fail), get out of pslaunch and start psclient. PS will only open from psclient for Mac OS.

Thanks for reply.
so there is no way to 'INSTALL' the game 'normally' ?

Hello guys,
I'm newbie here and for Planeshift. Yesterday I download the Mac version from official site: Planeshift_._it, that's a dmg file named "Planeshift-v0.5.9.2.dmg". But it turns out there's no installer or installation package shows out when I mount the 'dmg' file.
The 'dmg' contains a folder named 'Planeshift', and the folder contains some subfolders and files.

Now I can enter the game just double click a file named 'psclient'.

And I can go into the preload(setup) section when I double click a file named 'pslaunch', but I cannot get update and cannot enter the game from here. Everytime I try to do so the game crashes.

I've seen the README file and learned that something maybe wrong with the 'dmg'. How should I do? By the Way, I downloaded it again from another mirror site, still........

Any help and suggestions should be welcomed!
