I guess I have to update accordingly, then. I suppose is as easy as just getting the new client?

Well, something must be wrong with my Xorg config file, as running in Windowed mode worked. Now, if only I could login... hehehe, will look around the boards to see if other people have the same issue as I with logging in.

Linux Specific Issues / Can't run psclient.

I downloaded the newest Planeshift, applied the updates stated in the pertinent thread, ran the updater (detected a great deal of updates) and then tried launching the game, this is what I get on the console:

Code: [Select]

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request:  135 (XFree86-VidModeExtension)
Minor opcode of failed request:  10 (XF86VidModeSwitchToMode)
  Value in failed request:  0x3200003
Serial number of failed request:  415
Current serial number in output stream:  419

Sys specs:

Fedora Core 4 AMD64 (Xorg 6.8.2)
NVIDIA proprietary driver 8178

Ahlon64 2800
1 Gig RAM
GeForce FX 5900

Ran pssetup to configure the program first (all perms are OK, as far as I can tell) . It would look like some functions are failing on X, could this be due to Xorg instead o XFree?

I\'ll try building the binaries and see if that helps, though, but what I find odd is that all other programs (updater, pssetup) run just fine.

Fedora Core 4 x86_64 on:

Athlon64 2800 (socket 754 :( )
1Gb RAM
GeForce FX 5900
Creative SB-Live Value (going good!)

Been a long time Linux user and have tried a LOT of distros (recent and ancient) and I stick to Fedora due to its superb multi lib support (compared to Debian-based and apt issues), with custom kernel and tweaked system services it rivals my Gentoo system for startup and since both use the same kernel (2.6.15-nitro3 based) they both perform just as well. And you gotta love Yum on FC... though portage\'s sweet

What video card do you have?

I know that some nVidia drivers have problems when you try to compile OGL code with them installed, uninstall them to restore your X\'s own GL libs, recompile, then reinstall the drivers and test. That should do it, at least for the OGL part.

Regarding sound, what drivers do you have? (OSS or ALSA) if it is the later then, you may need to install ALSA-lib or ALSA-oss to be able to compile code to use either ALSA or OSS.

Just some random thoughts.

Well I just wanna add that after turning the FPS counter on, without looking to the Temple or the Plaza directly I get an average of 24-32fps standing still... but I get like 1.5-7fps while walking in the Plaza area... Alas getting out of there gets me like 35-40... What I don\'t understand, thoguh is that the game froze when I approached the entrace to the Temple. Odd.

Anyway, what would (and I stress that would) be the recommended System Reqs?

My system:
AXP 1800+
512 333Mhz DDR RAM
40 Gb ATA 100 HDD
ATi Radeon 9500/128Mb VRAM (non pro edition)
OS: Red Hat Linux 9 with ALSA sound drivers and latest ATi FireGL drivers (2.9.13) for linux.

All I can say is that my system runs SSSLLLOOOWWW... gonna try that fps counter though :)

Any idea on the progress to BETA statge :) (I know we are still in pre-alpha, but... I like to dream :)

Download from  this site. Also make sure you get the utitlty to check the MD5 SUMS in Windows (at the bottom of the page) and check all of your downloaded files against those numbers, if one file has a different number (MD5 signature), then try downloading the file again.

Hope this helps 8)

I get a server error while trying to upload my character to the server. I\'m told by the game that the server is not responding and that I should visit the page (www.planeshift.it) or the forums. That is why I am here. Is anyone else having this problem.

Maybe this info would be of interest in finding out if others can connect (currently there are 18 clients connected):
OS: Red Hat Linux 9 (kernel 2.4.21)
Inet connection: Through aDSL@256 kbps, routed via another Linux machine (using static IP\'s)
Location: Mexico City, Mexico.

Being that the main server is in Singapore and I live in the American continent, may be there is a flaw in the satellite communication?

Anyhow, I hope I could connect, I\'ve spent the whole day trying to make it work (at first it wouldn\'t compile, then after a seriuos search I finally made it1 :D ), and I really want to \"testdrive\" this baby. Thanks!

Thetargos.
