Although I agree with most of what say I cannot say that I think large numbers of guilds won\'t be a problem. For if the reason to start a guild is to make an impact on PlaneShift those small, poorly led guilds will try to do anything to be noticed. And one guild that just ravages through Planeshift isn\'t much of a problem, but 50 guilds will be.

Yes, I meant Good Aligned. :-)

It is in fact easy to understand why there are so many guilds, so maybe my thread title isn\'t that well chosen. What I meant was that I don\'t understand why one would like to have his own guild , while in most cases that guild will miserably fail in his goal because of bad management. (yes, management in medieval times ;-))

Guilds Forum / Why are there so many Guilds?

I have been looking around, looking for a guild to join and the further I was in my first \"quest\" I started to wonder why there are so many guilds?

Does PlaneShift really need as much guilds as it has Role Player\'s?

I do not understand why anyone would create a new \"Evil Guild\" (which in fact isn\'t Evil because most people don\'t know wat Evil means) if there already is one. It would be much easier to just join the existing Evil Guild.
And this is not only happening with Evil Guild\'s, there are too many guilds of any sort you can think of.(except a Good Thieve Guild ;-))

It would be much more interesting and challenging if there would be about 10 large guilds, with different alignments and several small guilds that would have to cooperate to not be overwhelmed by the power of the large guilds. Small guilds would be more specialized while the large guilds would have too much members to be specialized. That means large guilds would have to hire small guilds to do very specific jobs. (when two large guilds are waging war on each other they could use the specialism of a smaller guild)

Anyway, this is wishful thinking because there are too many people who think having a guild is cool. And, which is worse, they are absolutely not gifted with leadership qualities.

But I\'m interested how other people would like the guild-system to work.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /
« on: July 25, 2003, 11:26:08 pm »
I used the build.sh script, but in the end, I encountered some problems. When trying to start psclient, I got this message:

Warning: Failed to load `vfs\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load `vfs\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
Couldn\'t load vfs plugin!
csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment var set?

So I manually went through the whole process again, untill I encountered this when trying to build CEL:

configure: error:
*** Crystal Space couldn\'t be found. The latest version is always avaiable
*** from http://crystal.sourceforge.net
*** Be also sure that you\'ve either installed CS or set the CRYSTAL var right.

Now.. my question is: How do I set the Crystal var right?

I have RedHat 7.3
