I have a 56k modem tho, from New Zealand. That\'s what I\'m worried about, major lag.

Showoff... *grumble*  That\'s kinda like driving your souped-up Lamborghini exclusively in 40kph speedtraps, isn\'t it?  Lots of power, but you can\'t go very fast...

Me, I\'m driving my Yugo on the Autobahn...  ;)

You may have just become my new hero!   ;)

BUT... receiving voluntary donations from players to help offset the costs of running a top-notch game isn\'t necessarily a bad thing.  I work for a couple of game companies as a freelancer, and I attend a number of game conventions each year.  I have personally witnessed RPGA (RolePlaying Gaming Association)members shelling out HUGE sums of real-life money (we\'re talking 3 or more digits here, folks) for unique items for their characters to use in future games.  Of course, they do it for charity, but the principle holds true for this as well, I think.  I wholeheartedly support the idea of exchanging unique items and so forth for donations... it\'s a proven technique, and let\'s face it... it\'s cool to have the absolutely ONLY anything in a RPG.

Uh, yeah, what he said!   ?(

Filching items from a backpack is actually a lot easier than you think, unless the backpack happens to be made of some seriously thick leather.  A skilled thief could certainly slit the bottom of a commoner\'s pack, most likely unnoticed, due to the distance the pack is from the wearer\'s body.  It\'s tougher to get something out someone\'s pockets because of the proximity of the item to the person\'s skin, which makes it easier to notice (feel) when someone\'s messing with your stuff.

(Uh, not that I know anything about this kinda stuff of course...  ;) )

Personally, I sincerely hope thievery is kept to a minimum, or at least not made too powerful a skill in the game.  Nothing is more frustrating to me than to lose the money/gems/trinkets/magicky-whatsits I\'ve been working so hard to get to some lowlife who exists only to screw with other players.  Please, O Gods of PS, make it difficult to get away with when done to other players!

Howdy, folks!

First of all, I\'m looking forward to the launch of PS... it\'s good to see a game development team doing their thing for the *right* reason (fun!) rather than to make a buck.  Way to go, and keep it up!

By the way, the power lines thing is a concept that has been under study for years, but right now it does *not* exist in any workable format.  Until someone can figure out how to keep a signal clean as it passes through a transformer, maybe... but for right now, you\'re SOL.   :(

Oh, and by the way... I love my cablemodem.  I kiss it daily and thank it for its loyal service.   :D
