Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /

hmm.. still not able to upload character after updating. Using name Saito.. Ajira.. Catnip.. Nothing seems to work.

Apparently the entire reinstall seems to have fixed the sound problem.. It would have crashed by now. However, another recent development is it tells me Im linkdead. What is that all about? I shouldn\'t be, I have DSL and stuff.

Hmm.. My sound card?

Looking through device manager I think its \"VIA AC\'97 Enhanced Audio Controller\". But I dunno. I snagged a driver off windowsupdate.com not too long ago. But really, I have no clue if I am right on this being the sound thing. Its the only logical choice seeing the others are the joystick port and something for MIDI.

I would have to go rerun the setup (I uninstalled it yesterday when I couldn\'t upload character.) and wait five minutes or so for the game to nail me with the message about the sound. Hold out till then.

The game looks very nice.. but I never was able to create a character. No matter what name I put (even a jarble of letters doesnt work..

) it tells me the name is taken. Oh, and on top of that, the game always has an illegal operation in something that has to do with sound and then shuts itself down after a set period of time.

I really want to play, but havent been able to cause of these.. any suggestions on fixes?
