They are being optimised.. I saw on the boards somewhere that it could be twice as fast if not more when it gets optimised.. and that was from one of the team-members that work with the game engine.

Here are some tips to speed up your fps:
First: Make sure you have your latest video cards drivers. If you havn\'t done this in a while (or never), its likely that your drivers are out of date unless you have a pretty new video card. This is very important. Geforce owners can get these here. If you don\'t know what video card you have, in windows, hit start -> settings -> control panel -> system -> device manager tab -> display adapter. What shows under that is your video card. You may have to do some web searching to find your cards latest drivers.
Second: Turn off everything in the background using ctrl+alt+del except for Explorer, Systray, and your internet connection. What shows up for your internet connection varies depending on what service you have I think. For me its Rnaapp, this might be the same for everyone but I doubt it.
If all else fails, I think that means you need an upgrade.
Also don\'t forget that this is just a test right now. It hasn\'t been optimized, so low fps is just a thing to deal with for now, until its optimised.
Those thing\'s help me out alot.. and I\'m only running an Athlon 850, with a TNT1 16 mb, 398mb sdram and a lowly 4gb hd. I get probably 11 or 12 fps, but thats not bad considering how old my vid card is and how good the game looks.

I could be wrong but I don\'t think a 3dfx card will run in OpenGL. I think it will only work in 3dfx glide. I could be wrong though. *shrugs*

I think a map would be good. Say you have to buy one from in the game.. or find one.. and the map is like WarCraft\'s map where it only shows the areas that you have already explored.. and the rest of it is blacked out until you explore there. Would be pretty useful.

Looks like the techdemo is coming out this week! I can\'t wait!!!! Gonna be a good time... chatting... and walking around. I\'m really excited, and I\'ve only been waiting for a week or 2.. I can imagine how the rest of you that have waited so long must feel.

Will there be a way for everybody to change the detail settings like picmip, character detail, dynamic lighting etc. through the game itself? (if this is known at this point)

From the screenshots that I\'ve seen.. some of you are going to get REALLY low fps. Some of the screen\'s are comparable to RTCW. And RTCW is one of the best looking games ever made... thus far. I got 850mhz AMD Athlon with 398meg ram and a TNT1.. and that game averages about 11 fps. If any of you don\'t know.. 11 fps is TERRIBLE.
Now I know I get the low fps because of my video card (I actually have a GeForce 2 mx that I can\'t use because I need a more powerful power supply), but I think some of you with less than a 500 or 600mhz processor are gonna have some problems. Even with a very good video card, the slow processors are gonna take alot away from it.
I could be wrong.. because I\'m basing this on the Quake engine, and PlaneShift is using a totally different engine. So we\'ll see when the test comes out I guess.

I\'m in a RTCW(Return to Castle Wolfenstein) clan. Well sorta. Clan TBAR. It\'s pretty hard to explain how I\'m \"sorta\" in a clan. If anybody want\'s to read how this is possible.. go here and read the faq. It\'s a pretty cool story in itself.
We have about 60 known members too (alot more than that if we count everybody that has dissapeared). But at the moment I\'m the only one who has heard of Plane Shift that I know of.

I\'m pretty new here as you can see by my number of posts, but I was wondering how many of the guilds\\clans(you choose) are Plane Shift exclusive? Or for the one\'s that aren\'t, what games are your guilds\\clans from?
