Wish list / Some ideas from other games
« on: September 27, 2003, 03:15:06 am »
there are some thing from other computers games that I believe would be great for planeshift:

1-Killing sistem from Gothic 1 and 2. In Gothic when you fight qith someone and beat him, he isn\'t dead. He falls unconscious to the floor (for 30 secs?) In that time you can stole everything from him. City guards wont interfere in this fights unless you kill/have killed someone.
I thing this sistem can work fine in a MMORG. I don\'t know how the dying/respawning will be in this game, but with this system a PK would be a very ulgy person.

2-Magic system from Soulbringer. In that game there are five elements. Each element consumes another in a circular pattern : Water > Fire > Spirit > Air > Earth >Water. As spells are cast, the appropriate element gets
larger, BUT AT THE EXPENSE of another element. So you must choose to specialise in one or two elements or to balance them all to  achieve the greatest power.

If you are great with Water you are bad with fire. So magicians are diferent from each other (in UO for example all the magicians are equal). The more powerful you are with a specific \"magic path\" the more damage that spells will do. In Soulbringer, when you reached a very high level in water (for example) when someone casted a water spell against you you gaind life instead of loosing it.

Each \"magic path\" should have all kind of spells: summonings, attack, defense... We could even split each path in \"minor disciplines\" in order to get more diversification. So we could have a Fire/summoner mage or a Ice/battle mage.

3- As seen in source Forge the clothing is a great idea. I believe that character customization is one of the most important things in a MMORPG, so your character don\'t look like exactly equal to anybody else. This includes different clothings of different colors, hairstyles, faces, complexions,etc...

4-The skinnable GUI it\'s another good idea(sourceforge). The great game Deus Ex had one.

5-The more skills the better. One of the better things in UO were the huge number of different skills to train. A good EXP-leveling system is the one of The elder scrolls 3:Morrowind. You had % habilities (wich increment just by using them like in UO) an killing monsters/resolving quests give you XP points. When you reach the next level you can rise your attributes (strengt, dex...) For example: if You are blacksmithing all the time. when you raise level you decide wich attribute get better. As you have been practishing a strenght skill (blacksmithing) the strength attribute gets a multiplier. So you can raise 3 strength points at the same cost as raising 1 point of dex.

I\'ll love to see your feedback. Sorry for my english. I hope you like some of this ideas. See U
