So, yes, you can test the CVS version, but you need to compile it yourself.

Explaination: CVS holds the current version of PlaneShift

I assume it\'s possible to log on to the alpha(?) server used for testing ... ?

Also, I think I have read somewhere that the source was moved from sourceForge to another cvs-server. In that case - which... ? [edit] bleh - Thardin beat me to it...[/edit]

anyways..

/me fires up his linux box and rips the source  :D

I made a similar suggestion in this thread
how about a anti pking sever and pking sever???
about adopting the suppression/political zones idea form Anarchy Online.
I think there should be places where people could fight each other far away from any newbie grounds. Also people who do not like PvP should be able to rise to high-levels without being preyed upon by dedicated player-killers (yes, that kind of people exists  :( ).
Anyway I think we need do discuss this all the way through, preferable with the developers actively participating.

Maybe it would help if you posted the specs on your comp together with the configuration (resolution and fullscreen/windowed) you are using in PS.
I tried running PS on my Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop running XP with an Ati Mobile P graphicscard. In OpenGL and  fullscreen the screen would be green, but in windowed mode all was fine.

..and for the 99% or so other players out there who didn\'t want this to happend - please remember to backup the file main.jpg which should reside in the planeshift\\art\\backdrop\\   directory. From here it should be an easy task to replace it everytime it is overwritten by a new (restrictive) patch. It may also be a good idea to backup the character/race-pictures aswell. Who knows when a new (1%) wave of chanting purists will overrun these boards again  X(

I ran the CS-demo in WinXP a week ago and got about 0.5 fps with openGL. After I installed a new driver for my Geforce 2 card everything worked out fine.

I don\'t think XP is to blame. I\'m getting fairly good fps except for a couple of slowdowns once in a while. The loadtime is quite annoying though. I takes me 1min20secs to get into the game from the point where I hit connect. I\'m running the game from a raid-array with a SIDE-RAID100 raid-controller and 2 IBM GXP60 40GIG harddisks so it can\'t be that. It looks like everythings being loaded at once rather than loading the less important stuff in the background while the game runs.
