Newbie Help (Start Here) / Screen Shots
« on: October 24, 2003, 01:58:26 am »
I have seen a few people asking how to do screen shots, or take a picture of your character on PlaneShift.  I will explain not only how to get a screen shot, but how to get a great screen shot.

First go to a place where the setting will be good for a picture.  For example, get on top of a high tower with a good view of the city around you, or behind the fountain in Hydlaa plaza.  Now you could just take a screen shot, but it wouldn\'t be of yourself, it would be of what you are looking at (unless you already changed view point).  The side note I made about view points is what I will talk about next.  To get a good shot of yourself you need to be able to see yourself and get a close up of yourself.  To do this we will want to press \"m\" once, this will put us into a view of our character from far away, but we do not want a far away picture.  To solve this problem use your mouse to change the position of the camera.  Click with your right mouse button once to use the mouse as a positioner for your camera.  Once the camera is positioned in the desirable angle click the right mouse button once again to deactivate the camera dragging feature.  Now we want to click and hold both mouse buttons at the same time while we drag our mouse to get a better zoom on our character.  Once you have done this you should have a good angle and zoom with the camera.  Be patient, good shots take time.  There are many factors when taking a good screen shot:  Lighting (is it night-time outside, is it raining, these things will darken your picture and lessen the quality of the screen shot)  Are people around? (this will crowd your screen shot and make it harder for the viewer to decipher who you are in the picture.

Now that you have the right angle, zoom, atmosphere, for the picture you will want to press the \"Print Screen\" button, either labeled with \"Print Screen\" or \"PrntScrn\" and is positioned beside the F12 button on standard keyboards.

Now you will want to open any image editing program you like to use and choose Edit > Paste, or press Ctrl + V or do whatever so that you may paste what is on the clipboard to your program.

Now your picture is in the editing program.  Edit it how you please.  Put your name on it, add some cool effects... just use your imagination.  Then click File > Save, and you are ready to use your screen shot of your character in PlaneShift.

Remember the PrintScreen button isn\'t limited to PlaneShift.  It can be used anytime, anywhere (most of the time, sometimes it doesnt work on Full Screen games, though there will usually be a Print Screen key assigned on the keyboard for the game).

Hope this helps, Have fun picture taking!

If you come up with a cool picture and want it online, email it to me at nick88389@hotmail.com and i will put it on my website:  http://planeshift.filetap.com

OKAY, OKAY, by popular deman... (grrr) I have put the Fire guild website up...  check us out at http://planeshiftfireguild.cjb.net

Thanks for the input...

And about the officialy being a guild topic \"For now 10 members doesn\'t mean thy guild is official.
It seems that official guilds are ones placed in http://www.thebbb.tk\" - Draklar  that is utter bull, I was looking at the official PlaneShift site http://www.planeshift.it, or maybe it was the PlaneShift server site http://planeshift.fragnetics.com, and read that you have to have at least 10 members not including the leader, a mission statement, a website, and the leader has to submit his name and stuff to PlaneShift to be recognized as an official guild.  So read the website and then tell me I\'m wrong.

Guilds Forum / Fire Guild is Recruiting
« on: October 20, 2003, 12:09:42 am »
Hi, I\'m the leader of the Fire guild.  Currently we need 10 members to become an official guild.  Because PlaneShift is still in beta, we will only be accepting the minimum amount of players required to be recognized as an official guild.  The current roster is as follows:

Pinup - Owner/Leader
Bathax - Co-Leader

The Fire guild currently is in need of 9 additional members.  Please hurry and reserve your spot in the guild before these spots have been taken.
