Most likely is your X configuration has 60hz entries for lower resolutions, instead of 85hz or higher.

Nope, I\'m not that stupid ;) I tried setting default resolution in X lower, and refresh rate remains ok (85Hz). In Planeshift it does not. Difference between 60Hz and 85Hz is clearly visible to bare eye but I also got \"info\" button in my monitor which proves it :)

You were right in that though that running Planeshift in 1600x1200 does give 85Hz (didn\'t try that earlier since my comp does not really have enough power to run games in that resolution). If I only knew why, when lower resolutions do not?

Hi,

Is there a way to change screen refresh rate in Planeshift or Crystal Space? Most I can get out from psclient is 60Hz which feels terrible to watch :( I\'ve been trying different resolutions, only one where I get more (85Hz) is 1024x768 which would be quite ok but unfortunately the fonts in that resolution are undreadable, looks like every other line is drawed or something like that.

Lower resolution gives again readable fonts but no decent refresh rate (not to mention resolution is simply too low :))
Higher resolution again gives readable fonts but same thing with refresh rate, 60Hz.

In KDE, I got my desktop set at 1600x1200@85Hz so monitor isn\'t the problem, nor is the X configuration. All the lower resolutions I have tried work just fine in X. Any ideas? I\'ve been searching this and Crystal Space forums but didn\'t find anything.

Thanks!

I\'ve got the same problem.

Note that apparently account name is the email address you gave during migration, not the old character name. Took me few minutes of banging head to the wall before I realised it when I was getting the same message :)

Couple well known similar examples are Quake and Quake2. Both engines were open sourced (GPL\'d) by ID Software. That doesn\'t mean you can get the full game for free, you still have to pay to get the levels, textures, models etc. Do they violate GPL as well? I don\'t think so.

Would be fun, like toasting raw meat or fish or baking bread. I haven\'t searched thoroughly but didn\'t notice it discussed anywhere ; in the next release do you have to eat/drink to stay alive? I hope so, adds some more depth and realism, as long as food isn\'t too hard to obtain ie. you don\'t have to be worried of starving all the time ;-)

You can:
- Walk/run/jump around
- Talk to people
- Join a guild
- Talk to guild people
- Collect crystals
- Buy a decorative weapon/mug with those crystals

That\'s pretty much it at the moment.  It can still be fun ;-)

Login to the game and type /spawn in the chatbox. If that doesn\'t help, try running the updater.exe and then try /spawn again.

Oh, and read the sticky FAQ ;-)

Nice post CadRipper, valid points.

True, the community is still young and the game is taking shape. My comparison to Planetarion was a bit invalid, pretty much only thing common are guilds (alliances). We can avoid the mistakes that have ruined some other games and the setup here is so much different with coming economics, jobs et cetera that I suppose I shouldn\'t be worried ;-)

Somehow reading this and some other guilds related posts around brings me memories from my Planetarion times and its alliances.. spying, hacking, bashing, flaming et cetera :(

I sure hope this game never comes to the point where only being in strong guilds allows you to success - guilds are good but the game should stay balanced, of course some guilds are stronger than others but it shouldn\'t have to mean one or two guilds own the rest and the rest just have miserable times making them only concentrate on their survival.

Just my 2 cents, correct me if I have misunderstood something.. been around for a short while only :)

Wish list / Mouselook suggestion
« on: November 13, 2003, 10:51:33 am »
Since my post got thrown to the plaza, here\'s the relevant suggestion part again:

How I\'d like to see the mouselook redone is \"Morrowind style\", if you\'ve played Morrowind you know that there\'s crosshair cursor and you don\'t have to activate cursor yourself, simply \"look\" an object (ie. point the crosshair into it) and click to select it. In Morrowind menus and other windows are activated using right mouse button, that also works like a charm imo - maybe some ideas how the user interface could be developed in future releases?

I would also like to see some shortcuts for commonly used actions, maybe something like double clicking a player does a greet action, double clicking a pickable item picks it up, double clicking a book opens it et cetera.

Right, didn\'t plan to make wishes when I started the post so it ended up in here ;-)

Mods feel free to move the thread :)

The Hydlaa Plaza / About mouselook
« on: November 12, 2003, 03:39:49 pm »
First, hello everyone, I\'m new to the boards and to the game as well, although I\'ve been testing it few times in the past I couldn\'t really play before I did some hw-ugrading ;-)

Now to the subject, although I assume this has been addressed in the coming release - the mouselook. It\'s kinda choppy right now, in some areas using mouse I can only turn like 180 degrees at time while in same location turning with keyboard works pretty well. Most notably this happens when exiting the dungeon in the \"storeroom\" (barrels and crates) and near it. Another location is the dungeon entrance, the backroom of the temple and the first bridge when jumped into the dungeon. There are other locations as well but the choppyness seems more random.

Removed wish and reposted to relevant board

That\'s it for now.. keep up the good work, I can\'t wait for the CB release :-)
