Wish list / A wish list to peruse.

Based on my time in AO, I came to appreciate various aspects of the game that would really be great to see implemented in their own way in PS.  These items are as follows:

**********

Dynamic Quests: One could go to an NPC and ask for a quest or \"job\" based on various parameters (i.e. money, xp, reward, type of mission such as \"retrieve item\" or \"slay beast\").  The individual would then receive a quest somewhere within the world that would be marked on their map.  Basically, a random dungeon would be generated based off of their parameters.  Such quests could be created for solo, or team play.

This is one of the things I really enjoyed about AO, you could snag a quick \"mission\".   This could be solo or team if you wanted, and it prevented you from having to go skulk around in some static dungeon alone and risk certain death.

Of course, static dungeons are also have their place (along with outdoor hunting areas), but it would be great to see dynamic quests be part of the mix.  Often static quests/dungeons results in having to camp for long periods of time and be in competition with uber guilds that you (and your team) simply have no chance against.  This is also beneficial when you do not have a great deal of time to spend in the game.

**********

Ability to solo: Though there should be a clear advantage to teaming, it would be great to be able to solo as well.

Though the ability to solo existed in AO, it became almost unfeasable with the addition of Shadowlands.

**********

Lots of social areas / items / events: Items such as social clothing and indoor/outdoor social areas really provide a way and place for people to socialize and roleplay.

I would have to say this was one of my favorite things about AO.  Besides having an apartment, there were several \"bars\" people frequented.  There is even a shoutcast radio station run by AO players where DJ\'s would have parties in-game with music and requests.  Of course I\'m not sure how any players would organize something like this in a fantasy settting, but it was very enjoyable, and added a great deal to the community.

**********

I hope these items are of interest and spark some imagination.  I appologize if I mention AO so much, but it is my frame of reference, as I spent a couple of years playing it.  In the end however, I simply couldn\'t justify paying for a game that had deteriorated so much for me.  PS really holds a lot of potential since it is being created by a community and not a company and I am eagerly looking foward to the CB release!

Thank you for the warm welcome.  Don\'t worry about being busy CadRipper, not as if I don\'t have plenty of time to explore :).  So far I\'ve been in the temple and wandered around the city.  I found an NPC next to what appears to be some type of library, don\'t believe I\'ve found the tavern yet, but I\'m sure I will eventually :).

Everyone seems very nice which is a pleasant surprise.  Personally, I think the most important part of any MMORPG is a good community :).  I look forward to meeting many of you!  Oh, and Mogura?...your avatar looks just like my pet kitty.  I\'d post a picture but I don\'t have anywhere to dump the pics in order to remote link.

See you in Yliakum...

General Discussion / Hello Everyone
« on: November 15, 2003, 07:53:27 pm »
Hello Everyone,

I am relatively new to PS, and just decided I would say hello.  I learned about PS a couple of months ago and have been looking at the forums every now and then and recently opted to download the client.  It has certainly captured my interest, as it has a great deal of potential.  I certainly hope that more individuals get involved in its development.  Considering how much the internet community has done for LINUX, there is a world of possibilities!

I\'m actually an Anarchy Online veteran of 2+ years, but within the last couple of months, I simply cannot justify spending the money due to not having much time, and being rather dissapointed with the Shadowlands expansion.  In addition, when the roleplaying org I was a member of dissolved, so much was lost for me.  Thusly, I just happened to stumble on PS and decided I would become part of the community.

I am aware of the game\'s current state, though I was wondering if there are any good social spots in the world at the current time?  If you see any of my characters out and about, feel free to say hello (Tkaar, Jeldar, Valeos).  I wish you well...
