Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /
« on: March 11, 2003, 09:57:28 pm »
I downloaded it three times before it worked...
First, I downloaded the first set of links with Flashget. They downloaded way too fast, and wound up being like 12kb each. (Obviously something went wrong there).

Next , I tried the second set of links (again, with Flashget). This time they seemed to be the right size, but still they did not work properly).

The third time, I downloaded them by right clicking, and \'saving target as\', and it worked fine.

So, my point is.. it might be best to not use a download manager, and/or check to see if the parts that you\'ve downloaded are the proper size.

If all else fails try downloading again maybe.

Check out the \'setting\' section on the main PS page. It talks about the big crystal that lights up the caverns...

\"...while on the first level it is so strong that it allows wonderful crops and the breeding of great cattle, which provide milk and meat. \"

I assume it also causes water to evaporate : )

Sounds great!

Coincidentally, I\'m currently writing travel and battle music for PS.

You just type it into the chat line.

Don\'t worry, you\'re not missing much on the outside.

Thank you!!

I looked all over the Planeshift page for reference to that command, but found nothing. Was I just not looking closely enough? Anyway, it worked - thanks!

I don\'t think that my problem is a bug.

The new version was working great for me...

Until I walked off of the edge of the world. (I know, it was a dumb thing to do).
Now whenever I start the game I start in the underworld.
I re-installed the game, but it changed nothing. Is there something stored somewhere that tells the game to start me off where I was last time I played?

Seems like a drunk persons stats would go down.

(At the same time they might perceive that some of their stats have gone up... especially strength and charisma).

To be honest, I\'m really not into the idea of drinking games. Rat races and dice sound good though.

(I wasn\'t suggesting that we should be limited to authentic medieval games. I was offering an idea... IMO, one that is a bit more original than poker.)

A gaming room is a great idea! I have no idea of how it would be done, but I immediately thought of some of the medieval gambling games that I\'ve played at SCA events. There is a really fun dice game called \'lucky pig\' (I think that it\'s from the 12th or 13th century).

Very cool! Thanks.
I had no idea that the temple was so insect-like.

(look again... I see the library and the gazebo)

Great ideas! I\'m glad to see that you are a WTB member.
About your first point-   I think that HPs should be displayed. I know that in real life I don\'t have a graph that shows me how my health is... but on the other hand, if someone is beating the hell out of me the pain would give me a pretty good idea of how badly I am hurt.

I think that it is based on how many times you\'ve posted...

if so, that\'s one more for me!
(I\'m joking, I really don\'t care).

First time I tried it said \'loading world\', I waited about 5 minutes, saw no change... so I walked away from the computer. I came back about 1/2 hour later and found an error message. Now whenever I connect, I\'m in within one minute.  So, despite the error, something must have worked.

Oh, and I have a 56k connection.

I have a 56k connection and I don\'t seem to be having any more problems than anyone else here - in fact I seem to have fewer problems than most.
If you\'re concerned with getting disconnected before you finish downloading, get a download manager (which will allow you to pause your download or continue where you left off if you are disconnected). I recommend FlashGet.
