Sorry, should have been able to do this in last msg but....

You should be able to detect whether nVidia is installed by looking at any one of several configuration files (Xconfig, modules.conf/lsmod, or even by examining the /proc directory tree.

Is there some reason why this sort of strategy wont work?

Best Regards,
James

General Discussion / nVidia/OSS Issues on Linux
« on: May 16, 2002, 02:29:50 pm »
Here\'s a load of questions for you:

Have you tried this on different distros?
Why not make sound be disabled for nVidia (not everyone uses nVidia, you know =)
Has it been tried with sound drivers other than OSS?
Whats the precise nature of the driver collision?
anyway I can get the rpm and try it on my system (I use an ancient SB16 and a Voodoo3)? windows rel doesn\'t work for me at all
 :(

General Discussion / Is nobody bummin' for lack of linux client??
« on: May 16, 2002, 04:25:14 am »
Greetings, List!

I am just wondering: is nobody concerned that the linux client is so overdue? Because I know I am!!

I am wishing that the linux client would come out real soon, I only run windows to play everquest, and I think I would rather play PlaneShift. With planeShift I can see where I could actually contribute rather than watch a ten dollars go away every month. Its like the difference between renting a house and owning one :D

I am pretty good with linux, perhaps I could help solve the problems if I know what they are.

Best of Luck and Best Regards,
Twitch
