General Discussion / I want my old name back!
« on: October 01, 2006, 09:45:51 pm »
I have been playing Planeshift on and off for about 4 years now (since the crystal-gathering days).  After a recent hiatus, I started playing regularly again about a week ago.  My original character, Maestro Daemonslayer (originally just "Maestro," since last names were not originally implimented), has been seen my many people.  I recently joined a guild, and felt very welcomed by everyone.  I was glad to be back involved with Planeshift.

Well, late last night (around 1:30 a.m. PDT), a GM, who shall remain nameless, appeared and forced me to change my first name.  He said titles were not allowed.  While I spent the better part of an hour protesting, this GM was quite adamant that my name was problematic, even though I have never heard of anyone having problem with it before.  The name "Maestro" is what I use for every PC game I play, whether RPG, RTS, FPS, MMO, or what have you.  It IS my online persona.  It is not vulgar, and it expresses my personality, as I do happen to be a teacher (Spanish definition) and a conductor (English definition).  I was forced to change it to Masetro by this GM, or it would be randomized.

Look, I understand the whole "follow the rules" thing about role playing, but I think this is ridiculous.  My name is my identity, and I do not want some random gibberish to be MY character.  Further, my character's lineage states that he is the son of a teacher--the name seems reasonable to the world of PS.

Any GMs out there--I want my name changed back to Maestro Daemonslayer, or else I will no longer be a part of PS.  You will lose a loyal adult member who plays fairly because of one GM's need for micromanagement and inflexibility.  If any of you other players have any problems with my first name, you are welcome to cite it here, and I'll be gone, but if anyone wishes to support my desire to change my name back to its original form, please also feel free to reply here, and let the GMs know that my name is not a problem with you.  Thank you for consideration.

Sorry if this one\'s been covered before, but I wanted to let you know of an exploit I recently discovered.  It seems that you can get as many emmissary scrolls from the temple as you wish, just by continuously saying the right lines to get it (I won\'t give them away here as to ruin the quest).  The scrolls are lightweight, and worth 4 trias each to Harnquist.  Bottom line is that you can get about 250 trias worth in just a couple of minutes using this method.  If there is any \"reward\" for this report, I only ask that you make it easier to get money in other ways--mining is VERY slow, gold is VERY heavy, and is only worth 6 trias!  Worst of all, you can\'t even sell it to the magic shop next to where you mine it--you have to go all the way back to Hydlaa or Ojeveda!  Anyway, just something to consider!

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) /
« on: March 19, 2005, 07:24:28 pm »
OK, so there is another trainer who teaches sword technique.  But is the trainer by the pub not supposed to be able to train past level 10, or is this a bug?  If he is not supposed to train past 10, it sure would be nice to actually have him state he cannot train me further, rather than to just not have the option.  I\'ll look around and see if I can find other trainers.  Thanks for your help!

Hi-

I trained my character (Maestro Daemonslayer) up to level 10 in swords, but after running an update (several updates back), I noticed that I cannot train with the cat-creature outside the pub anymore, although it seems others still can.  I cannot, in fact, seem to find anyone who can train me in swords, and more recent updates have not resolved the issue.  Is my character bugged, or can I not train swords past level 10?  Thanks for your help on this matter, and I apologize if this topic has been covered before.

General Discussion / Platforms for PS
« on: December 27, 2003, 05:42:15 am »
Hello all-

Let me first say that I downloaded PlaneShift a few days ago and it looks great--heck, I\'ve been just combing the map getting all the gems I can (even found a diamond!).  Anyway, I saw on one site that the devs were planning on making PS for ALL operating systems...including Amiga?  Dang, are they serious about that?  I\'m an old Amiga gamer, and it might be fun to see PS on my old Amiga.  If not, well, there\'s always Windows XP.  Can\'t wait for CB!  Devs, keep up the good work--you\'ve got a winner here!
