Linux Specific Issues / segmentation fault after update
« on: February 26, 2006, 07:21:37 pm »
Updated yesterday with the patch installer.
Game was running fine but without the lighting (everything was dark).
Ran psclient -relight a couple of times to relight the magicshop area where i was at the time and went on to hydlaa to sell some ore i had.
Sold it and noticed the temple interior was also all dark so i came outside to the square and logged out. Ran the psclient -relight again and it \"seged\". thought \"crap\", so just ran psclient again without -relight and it \"seged\".
Now i can\'t load hence i\'m locked out.
Already ran the new updater it updated a bunch of stuff but the problem persists.
Sugestions?

The output:
Quote

The new nvidia drivers instalation prompts you to automagically change the x.org settings  :P
As for dependencie hell not much to be done about it. The fault is not in the software imho.

i say bump it.

Also i dont know anyone who would use an outdated install for a desktop, and would be pissed if i caught anyone playing/installing such a thing as planeshift or whatever on my debian server. I mean ... thinking about it makes me nervously grasp my BOFH club and the world starts getting blurry

To settle the thread Teamspeak uses OSS (it pwns OSS and it\'s mommy).
If you do have OSS (and im not talking alsa \"oss emulation\") there should be no problem in running TS+PS. TS gets to hog OSS and PS plays with ALSA. No sound daemon \"manbo jambo\"/soundwrapper hacks and dark dark magic is gonna fix the fact that Teamspeak (edit: for linux, the win32 client ain\'t this bad) is old and poorly designed even for its time.
And besides like Drey said sound in PS is a dozen ogg files. you can turn it off because you wont be missing like much i mean it\'s not like PS has these great sound tracks and sound effects.
Oy! use gnome-meeting!  :D

ESD - ALSA ( i swear by Gnome ) ;)
And i can play planeshift (whatever sound settings - usually it\'s openal) with Teamspeak fully working AND have Rhythmbox playing my favorite tunes muahahaha
Of course you need a decent enough sound card ... the sound properly configured ... etc etc
As for Enemy territory w/ Teamspeak, it\'s been well documented for a long time now, it only takes a couple of comand line magic lines no need to drop your sound daemon ;)

Linux Specific Issues / Missing textures

The problem:

It seem to me like there are a few missing textures.
I\'ve tried to solve it by deleting the art folder and redownloading it with the updater. Problem remains. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Code: [Select]
psclient.bin: coreanimation.cpp:240: void CalCoreAnimation::getPose(float, std::vector >&) const: Assertion `time >= 0.0f && \"time must be > 0\"\' failed.

Is this the error mentioned here?
If so im stuck on Oja Road and as such can\'t play until said update is released  ?(
And i\'ve tried everything from moving backwards to changing camera, resolution, color depth ... Can we have an ETA on the fix?

Are people that stupid?
Yes.

I never crashed because of a spell. I cast a multitude of spells everytime i do combat, dispite the fact they have no/little effect, it makes things less boring. I\'ll continue to do so.
Run the updater, update your system. It\'s your fault your crashing.
