Heya Peoples,   6(^-^)!  further evidence in the damning alegations that I draw, but first I just gotta say all these 3D moddelers on the fanart board are really getting me revved up for my 3d moddeling training that happens later this year, Except I\'l be using lightwave not blender or 3dstudio or maya or any others (I was all puffed up about learning maya too, sigh) on the subject of wich, is lightwave very compatable with crystalspace? or somethign that is easily portable? I\"m very sorry I honestly know big zip about 3d but it does really excite me^^ I know Karyuu was saying there wasnt any need for submissions right now, more for more full time moddeling team members but this will be about 6 months from now so you never know how things change:P

oh ^^ and if anyones curious why I\'m incredibly seldom seen ingame I havent a breath of free time and I\'m somewhat self-banned from morpg\'s for the remainder of the year due to my rather severe FFXI addiction that I managed to cold turkey my way off :P

and in line with the critique on my (lol losing) fanart contest entry I decided to try doing a non lineart piece

any feedback on this one would be apreciated, its somewhat my firt foray into lineless shadingwork

I\'ve also looked into a deviantart account again recently and it seems theyve changed the contract details pertaining to them owning your works or any derivative works therof, so I\"m thinking of getting an account, my only bother is whether I\'m really good enough is the problem, what do you guys think? (not just the fanart bigwigs ^^)and if you have a devart account whats your perspective?

[edit: forgot to say THANKYOU! ]

hee hee thanks, lol and as far as the dev team goes well thats a tale for another time^^, and as far as challenging Cherppow goes... well, he and I have very different directions, where he has his more europian classical based direction I have more of an eastern pop culture direction. so challenging or even comparing is a bit of a moot point (lol that and his colouring whups my arse)

lol and I\'m glad you guys like the scientist fellow, feel free to use him or distinct likenesses therof in anything you like he was made more cause I liked the idea of a \"scientist\'s\" as opposed to a \"magician\'s\" staff

and dont worry Dying I feel the same way every time I browse my way along Deviantart, its both inspiring and disheartening to see how far ahead some of these people are, in fact I\'m more than a little down on my own skills, openly so in fact and I dont do it to encourage compliments I honestly do think I have an incredible ways to go until I am at a level where I would happily call what I do \"professional quality\" I mean my composition still really needs work, and my ligting and shadow sense is rather hopeless to be honest... lol but so it goes.
it also somewhat concerns me where my skills may lead me lol a lot of the greats in eastern styled pop art tend to go a little perverted, like Masamune Shirow for instance, amazing artist and incredibly skilled in melding both 3d and 2d in his works... and yet he like many others who have reached the pinacle in thier chosen field is an absoulute pervert, what do the fates have in store for me... who knows

I do know that the train station gives me free time to draw given the delays that there were today :P lookit

This is Lucients \"Sister\" you know that song \"me and my shadow\" well shes a lot like that but with an extra verse about being eaten alive

^^ the drawing itself wasnt all that finished but the train came so I drew a couple of lines and made her clothed instead of the base form :P ahh the ease of a mini.

Fan Art / Kintall has been accused of drawing!
« on: March 04, 2006, 12:01:57 pm »
Its true, there have been accusations, the evidence is as follows:

since I\'ve had no days off in the last couple of weeks my creative outlet (lol if you can call it that, they do get a bit samey from time to time) has been almost entirely voiced while waiting at various train stations between horrible pseudo-grownup commitments: work, higher education and even some time with Fiance gods willing

this ones of a Belly dancer wyrm charmer lady, as far as any phalic jokes go she can be very mean to the point that there have even been a few missing toes, be wary of where your tongue may lead you.

This blokes a Kran (in case your a Tasmanian) his name is... well its frankly unpronouceable, you know that sound you get when you have a pebble stuck on your shoe and it scrapes on other rocks when you walk around, nothing like that, but its annoying isnt it?

he enjoys working as a labourer, he cuts down trees he skips and jumps he goes to the lavatory (probably) etc etc etc

this one is of both the fabled blade of unsealing and of the \"Rather Unimpressive But Still Quite Nasty Demon Korakthneer\" after his somewhat lesser known and smaller scale reign of terror a great (well.. reasonable at least) seer said that he could only be sealed in an object not made by any hand in this world, and as it happens due to a race who found a way to dump their rubbish through dimensional holes theres loads of trans dimensional crap all over the multiverse relatively speaking, in short he was sealed in an old bean tin from another dimension, why if I had a dollar for ever time I\'ve heard that... welll I\'d have a dollar fifty.

This is one of the great early scientists in Planeshift history, while he never really made anything of note he works to make what will be the groundwork for many discoverys to come, yet he is still universaly agreed to be one of the more useless men throughout the world, for a brief and dangerous period of roughly a week his housemaid was away.. being a confident and slightly bent scientist his first foray into the tea and biscuits field ended with a crater the size of a small lake and a smell that has yet to go away.

it has been nearly six years now

This is Lucient,  he is not \"alive\" by normal standards, he sort of fits a portion of himself into the place left in the universe by someone who has left with such suffering that there is left an ireperable little person shaped hole

he does this because he truly loves living things.. only he loves them in the way people like goldfish or play characters, he doesnt get them. and has caused a lot of strife by wanting the best \"stories\" to watch. he is universaly agreed to be the most destructive fan in history

This is Also lucient, just a little closer to what \"he\" looks like, being a trans dimensional being unencumbered by time and mortality it really does no good to be compared to a bunny... but the point is valid, they really are quite flopsy ears.

This is Imshala, she comes from the deep deserts and carries a weapon that is not only powerful but sentient, the lady herself is a woman of few words, this is not because of some dark past or inner sorrow, she just doesnt have much to say, the Scythe however could talk the legs off a table. its truly a sad state of affairs when you rely on your magical farm impliment to carry the conversation for you, being a farming impliment it has a very  \"rural\" sense of humour, and anyone without a good knowledge of animal husbandry wont get half his jokes... which is probably for the best in most cases.

This is lucient again, once again demostrating how bunny-ish his true form is if taken too far like in this shot, a small cottontail becomes visible

while it is probably unwise to think little of him because of how he looks it is agreed to be quite understandable given the curcumstances

this is what happens when you let your mind wander in audio engineering class and havent spent much time with your fiance lately, you end up with a naked woman (lol in all seriousness this I did by trying to just sort of scribble and scribble without construction lines and see if I can just sortof develop a form over time)

anyways, thats what I\'ve been doing lol pity be any poor bastard on Dial up, theres about a meg of pictures in just that post ^^

Very nice drawings^^,  and personally I wouldnt start from the feet I\"d more start from the head and spine, but even without detailed composition guidelines drawn your getting farily well proportioned figures.
IfI were in your shoes I\"d see if I can get in on some life drawing classes or possibly some figure basics books because you seem to have a good design/proportioning sense so all you realy need presently is some practice ^^ and possibly a few naked poeple (life drawing...     not that naked people are bad for other reasons besides, but in this context for looking at... just dont do it form the bushes with a telephoto lens, the police have funny ideas about that... trust me)

haha, well I made something   --->   is a sig that was requested, and I found some time today after my training... dear gods

OH! and while I was doing forklift training today one of the guys who was also there to \"learn\" actually decapitated a witches hat, instead of braking he tilted the forks down first pinning the top of the witches hat,  then scraping the top part of it completely off...  that wiches hat in particular was supposed to represent a person we had to avoid... O_O;  it terrifys me to think hes probably going to get his licence, gods help us all

lol anyways back on topic heres the sig for Sengus its fairly small filesize for an animated gif too, considering the frames.. ^^ (I remembered the load time buffer at the start this time too :P) and I rilly like the way the main name fades in, I\'l have to use that way again ^^ possibly improve on it Hmmmmm.....

SAUSAGES!!!

gods I want some free time, you know the most peaceful time of my days of late is waiting at the train station, cause theres not a single thing I should be doing or anything..  until that acursed worm of steel and burning brake fluid pulls up to toke me to my place of mental death... I\"m going to start offering it coins... in pairs

lol but it does give me time to do a little drawing, I started on Cherppows picccie, still need to ink colour and add beard and facial features, but that will have to wait until I can... get... some...   *sob* free time... *bitchmoanbitchcomplainetcetctec*

oh and Cherppow I am curious, is the big armoured dingie some sort of long forgotten warrior self or a past life or possibly his... eeeevil twin or the like? (I am incredibly curious personage)

Edit: lol.. peanut?  well I peanut a lot too so I guess its appropriate^^

Oooo sexy piccy (the huuuge bloke with the penchant for cheap accupuncture, not the gobble which is cool too but for different reasons ^^)

and the defocused areas on the bloke with the standard really do draw attention to him, I was talking to a mate of mine that used to do fantasy book-covers and he said that for some of them he even used photoshops other maps to make an intensity  or saturation map to help draw attention to certain areas as well, though that was mainly for figures and monsters and whatnot,
lol and just because youre a judge doesnt mean you cant enter a more serious gobble home pic, you cant really win fairly but no one said you couldnt enter the competition^^
hell, I\'m not planning to win and I still entered :P

and that progressively completed pic I found most interesting, I hadnt ever thought of doing the shading before the colouring, but it would be useful I can see.. hmm must try at some point

anyways, make more shiny dingies^^

lol beware, I may hold you to that, and your colouring really is good, its really a challenge for me to try and colour things with texture in mind, up until I first appeare on this board I had honestly never really used colour or shading for that matter.

and I also feel like I kinda owe the arty/requesty bunch here for helping me get what little improvement I have over this time. so in all seriousness if theres anything I can do to help just drop me a post here or a PM, I know I\'m somewhat limited in what I can do but you never know lol...

though I did have one idea...^^

that unoficcial fanart contest thingie, well whilst the challenges are outside my normal run of things I decided to give it a go anyways. if I\'m going to say I\'m trying to improve my weak areas (backings etc) then I should probably get to it on them :P

heres my entry: lol be kind...

I hope this one looks swampy enough, I wanted to make the dwellings look like hollowed fungus with little bridges, and after numerous attempts to paint the backing I decided to colour a b/w one instead so as to at least get an idea for what base layers to work from... much further to go /sigh

still looks OK I rekon, as for the likeing shiny things well thats what made me decide not to have any of them out/visible, I wanted to go with paranoid greedy dingie mentality of hoarding and hiding anything shiny :P(that and I do enough shiny rubbish as is anyways^^)
also if I get around to doing the inside/furnature I\'l see if I can protray walls of sortof straw with bits of \"bling\" sewn through them and a non directional lighting produced by all the shiny dingie in the huts

anywho I look forward to seeing what other people come up with(lol if only because it will improve the look of the thread after I dump this ugly mofo onto it^^), Cherppow this is so your shtick^^ you\'d best reveal yours soon bwahahaha etc etc

As per usual, comments, questions, suggestions, critiques, advice, moogles and/or interesting requests (of characters/things yours or otherwise ) are more than welcome on works both new and old.

thats a lovely pic, the care for lighting is also well used, they highlight the figure really well (the long sweeping shadow of him and his standard), I especially like the scale used in the pic, its often daunting trying to get across the sense of such a large distance, I remember one artist who used a progressive blur effect to get across smaller distances (like camera focus distance) in more action shots but even then..

and I\"m very sad to hear you\'re lonely on valentines day, I say go to art school show off your skills and see if you can find a talented young artist to share some time with ^^...youl have a common interest, you can woo her with you \"m4d sk117z\"... its almost TOO easy

as far as the distances go, on a clear day you could probaby see clear across, I know you can see the ocean sometimes from a place near where I live and thats about 30k offshore

anyways, great pics. do keep them up^^

lol the secret is... I don\'t, just look at some of Cherppow\'s, Djagg\'s or Karyuu\'s. if your going to learn from anyone they would be a top ticket (textures scare me) and also theres nothing wrong with two shade colouring it just means you have to be harder/more careful with the threshhold of where you cut the shading off.
and let me assure you Shading, lighting, and colouring are still quite alien to me, whilst I am very pleased with Father Sengus\' lighting I still have a veeeery long ways to go, AND ....^^  just tonite I have figured another facet of Photoshops depths, the \"make line smooth with vector stuff\" as I call it or \"pen\" tool if you must be pedantic :P

normaly as I said in that tablet thread I have trouble with the jittering over long curved lines, and I lose the smoothness and accuracy in my lineart, with this handy dandy tool I managed to get some really smooth curves in the lineart of this pic I did today, and given I have flash MX class tomorrow the more I get vectors into my mindset the better, anyways heres the pic, its not finished yet, I just bucketed the colours in and dropped a red shape in the BG :P

As per usual, comments, questions, suggestions, critiques, advice, cactuars and/or interesting requests (of characters/things yours or otherwise ) are more than welcome on works both new and old.

Peace out \"chall\"

EDIT[/u]

oh..^^ and I\'ve got a question for any photoshoppers out there, that last picture that was done (inked) with a mouse using the pen tool, but my question is how do I make the stroke of the line automaticaly grade from the max to the min of the line thickness, the closest i\'ve found is mking it grade down in thickness over a set distance, or go from thin to fat to thin again over the course of the line if i use the \"simulate pressure\" tickbox (and have the brush properties set to size jitter-pen presure not the fade I used for the set distance size gradation)

lol and I\'m a little ego-deflated that no ones got any requests for me, i remember \"back in the day\" I had more than I could possiby do :P, *sigh* ahh well

Ahh thankyou thakyou

Father Sengus:

Once again I am happy I have made a rendition you like, is always nervous posting peoples characters, and yeah after rummaging around on your char the idea of him doing the whole orphanage thing means the colours shouldnt be too \"Oooogy booogy\" plus scary or serious comes very little down to looks or clothing anywho, youl just have to carry that part off yourself ^^

Farren Kutter:

Thanks... that colouring was a real challenge, and it all started when I was rubbing off a bit of misplaced highlight and I noticed how well it looked... spent the next however long fiddling about with it trying to get a relative level of light and shadow across the whole dingie

Cherppow:

Ahh feedback from the colouring man imself^^ twah twah indeed. thankyou, smooth and clean is somethign I really like, some of my favourite artists are soem of the most miimalistic yet through such simple clean lines portray supreme depth and form with flawles composition throughout... ^^ this is what I aim for, but with 3d moddeling aproaching soon-ish (second semester, not first T_T) I am goign to have to broaden my horizons into more texture and rough based form portrayals, lol for this I hope for your and other peoples support throuout this lovely art community

oh and plus in case youre reading this thread ArcaneFalcon, I\'d like to thank you for the unnoficial fanart contest, I wish I had a means to participate :P but even so this community needs warming up, (lol I think they gotten lazy so keep up the poking/whipping^^) and if I had anything to contribute besides encouragement I\"d post this in that thread :P

plus I have drawn a dingie, this was a work done number that was mainly drawn to practice colouring female stomachs, well lighting them anyways

scetch and colored one supplied for all :P

AS per usual, comments, questions, suggestions, critiques, advice, camels and interesting requests (of characters things yours or otherwise :P) are more than welcome

tootles ladies n gents:P

lol ahh well, oh and it seems I have aquired a colourist so I will be piffing the Father Sengus pic at him and hoping for the best... I have another scetch to show... but the scetch is in my laptop bag which my mate inadvertantly buggered off with in his car... death will soon follow him....  and if tonite turns dull I might have a stab at the colouring myself ... so tired, spent all bloody day at work moving furnature because some people are too cheap to [rant about stupid coworkers/customers deleted due to exessive expletives] and then my laptop runs away...

and I\'m eagerly awaiting something in the unoficcial fanart contest thing that I can actually DO.. lol  possibly some sort of cartoony character design based one next month... hmm possibly not :P

and yeah as usual comments requests or suggestions are always apreciated... lol gods I\'m insecure/impatient/in constant need of validation.... IN-something certainly :P

!!EDIT!!

lol I decided to give it a colour (yes things is dull indeed), and I also decided to try and spend a lot of effort on the light and shadows and am really happy with the result, the shadows bring it a lot more depth than my other works lol... damn I may have to continue doing this now.... noooo effort noooo

This ones Father Sengus^^, colour wise its far from the brightest but the colouring is some of the more thoughtful so far (Sengus mate if you need a larger/smaller/transparentBG one for a particular website or use PM me and I\"l drop him to you)

as always comments and sugestions are always etc etc etc you know the drill :P lol GIMME!
