I dont know who (if any) of u will remember me but I was around in the great crystal hunting days.

I ran a gambling guild called AGES... gambling crystals using the dice commands

Anyways i got lured off to play SWG for 2 years and popped back last night to see how things were going  :)

Its looking good.. tho i had real trouble getting outta the death realm.

Any of the old-timers still around? Mog?, drakkie? etc..

heres my concept.. might be a lil complex.. but hey.. im brainstorming :P

-There are a set of \'nutrients\'
-Each race has an optimum level for each nutrient
-When nutrient levels are too high/low the player gets sick in some way (different way for each nutrient)
-All food has a level of each nutrient
-All food has a \'mass\' number
-Good chefs can determine food nutrient levels
-As food goes off its nutrient levels drop
-all players have a \'stomach\' number, this is dependent on stats
-when food is eaten its \'mass\' is subtracted from the \'stomach\'
-Once food has been eaten the players \'stomach\' number slowly increases, at the same time the nutrients from the food are slowly transfered to the player
- if a players stomach number is 0 they are full and cant eat

EG

Bob has optimum nutrient levels of:

Nutrient A: 30
Nutrient B: 50
Nutrient C: 70

and a stomach of 200

Bobs current nutrients are

A:0
B:50
C:70

Bobs stomach is currently at 50

Bob gets a message saying he \'craves\' nutrient A

Bob eats an apple with the following stats

A:30
B:X
C:0
Mass:Y

if X=0 and Y=200 Bob is full and his cravings gradually stop

if x=0 and Y=300 Bob vomits

if x= 50 and y = 200 bobs A cravings stop and he is full but he gets nutrient B excess sickness

Why.. i hear u ask... ok heres the benefits

- A wide range of food is encouraged
- Different foods have different effectiveness
- Different foods are more/less effective for different players/races
- Chefs become \'nutritionists\'
- Food left lying around becomes less beneficial
- A variety of ailments are produced that an be easily cured/avoided but encourage a more diverse cooking skill

all mini games suggested can be set up and run by players (they all rely on functionality that i assume is going to be in game at some point ... player owned chests with keys, books/paper, combat etc)

IMO the devs should ensure the functionality is there (which they will proboly cover when doing the functionality for more important things like skills etc)... the organisation of mini-games/events should eb left tot he players

look foward to AGES guild hosting a lot of these :P

Paying a small amount for a CD of the client delivered for your door:

- PS client = Free
- Service of having it delivered to yer door in a nice protective box = Small fee

As for distribution.. if you wanna have the PS client in the shops (like PS) itll cost a bit no matter who u go to... a much simpler method would be to have an online order form & a pc or 2 with cd burners.... demand shouldnt be too high as most people would be happy to download... but those 56kers wouldnt mind waiting up to a week or 2 to save the download im sure

Keeping PS free.. u could offer the CDs as a free gift but the cost of P&P would mount up with no decernable income to replace it... if CDs are to be then the best method would be to emphasise that no profit is made from them and that the cost charged to the player is the EXACT cost of P&P

if players feel they have paid for the game they will whine/moan a whole lot more if problems arise as they feel they have paid for a service they are not recieveing... if it is made clear to a player that any money they paid was for the service of having the CD delivered to their door then the only complaints they could have will be directed at the postal service :P

PvP aint nescessarily gonna drop bodies and if it does the victim will deffinately know who did it if the challenge system is used... so there is no point in player bodies being dragged (if they are lootable it would be part of the challenge script and therefore there would be no threat to the looter)

NPC corpses could be dragged but it could cause problems with people dragging corpses into places that annoy other players (like piling em up in doorways etc)

guards could be programmed to sound an alarm if they find a corpse in town but i dont really see too much benefit from the amount of ai code needed to make this work nicely

taxidermy would work and be a nice addition (IMO)

maybe player corpse dragging could be used in guild wars where that kind of stealth tactics would be usefull
