hi,

thx for answer..

i?ve installed the latest radeon-driver (3.7.0) and in other games it works very well..

did u know the ebuild(entry of portage, paketsystem of gentoo) for planeshift? i had compiled/installed planeshift with all of the ebuilds dependencies.. at present I cannot post them, because i?m @ work, this will be done later :)

possibly the problem is because of a dependency.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / character creation menu: very bad performance
« on: February 22, 2004, 11:42:56 pm »
hello,

its my first post in this forum, because of this, i want to introduce myself (a little bit ;> )

i\'m an inspired rpg-gamer, living in germany and i have played for example: planescape torment,  baldurs gate series, m&m 5-8, icewinddale series, and so on... my job is: computer scientist (btw. sry 4 my bad english..)

this much promising game has an entry in the package tree of mine linux distribution, whereby I also experienced of it.

after installation i\'d run the planeshift executable and here is my problem:

while using the charakter-creation-menu the mouse is moving very slow.. clicking on a button will be noticed some seconds up to minutes later..
in the last step, before uploading the new charakter, u have to type a password, and because of a very slow noticing of keyboardtyping, i cannot input my password 2 times in a right way.. :-(

has someone knowledge about this performanceproblems while running this game on linux?

I would be very much pleased, if someone me could help.

mfg Guenhwyvar

ps: i\'ve read all the information, offered by the planeshift-homepage and I\'m inspired.

?dit: oh sry, i\'d forgotten to post my system-config:
os: gentoo linux with kernel 2.6.3
hardware: athlon 1.8 xp, radeon 8500, 512 mb ddr-ram, i think with this hardware planeshift should run fast enough, dispite the radeon-driver is slow himself
