Either that or try and put in the actual IP (Located in the Link Dead section), and try that... If that doesn\'t work, then tell us if you have a firewall.. If you have a firewall, then read the manual about it on how to open up a port.

Footpunker, go back through and read my posts.... There is information you have left out that will help us severly.  Anyways, it just sounds like you have lagging at the start, and not crashing... If you still hear the music playing, or it still SHOWS the screen, then you aren\'t crashed...  If it crashes then it is going to bring up a Load Error for Win 95/98 and for Win ME/XP it will bring up the Send Error Message.  Thats when you know the program has actually TRULY crashed.  Past that, you just aren\'t being patient enough to let the world load... I have a good computer and it takes me anywhere from 1-5 minutes to load the world totally...

Ok then see your hard drive most likely has a slow speed to it that and your graphics card probably doesn\'t meet the system requirements.  I myself also run with a 32 meg, and it takes an extremly long time to load up for me too... Umm... If you would just wait it out, then you could probably play.

As for bettering your system, I am going to post a tweak system here soon on how to tweak your game to make it work to the best of its ability, even though it may not look or sound like the greatest.

TempestBloodClaw, as long as you here the music playing, then the world is loading...  Your proc is kind of slow... I am running on a 1.1 and it takes me almost 2 minutes to load.  As for it lagging bad in the beginning that can be your internet connection, you may not have much HD space, you may have programs running in the background, you may have all of these happening infact. Anyways, let me ask you a few questions

Amount of Hard Drive Space Total/Used/Free? (ALL 3 please)

Whats your VCard and its meg intake?

Whats your internet connection?

I believe that PK\'ing should be allowed, but to certain standards...

1 - Massive PK\'ing - Yes!
2 - Selling of the items looted from someone\'s corpse - NO!
3 - Bounties on the head of a PK\'er - YES! YES! YES!
4 - Tag that marks someone as Murderer so that everyone in the world knows you PK - NO!
5 - New Job: Bounty Hunter - YES!

Now you see here is the idea that I have... Allow PK\'ing to happen, but also for each person you kill you get a bounty put on your head.  Say for every 10 people that you kill the bounty moves up by 25%... THUS... The first 10 people you kill will cost you 1000 currency pieces per kill...  THUS 10000 Currency Pieces for 10 people, but on your 11th person it goes up by 25%, and thus moves up to 11250, because it went from 1000 currency pieces per kill to 1250 currency pieces per kill.  Then 2000 at 21, and so on and so on... NOW, There would limitations to things like this, because people would Exploited that feature and get rich extremely quickly.  You wouldn\'t be able to get another bounty placed on your head from the same person twice for atleast 10 hours after the first time you kill them...  THEN You wouldn\'t be able to collect a bounty off the same account for nearly 240 hours (10 days).  Now you ask...

\"If I am killed... How does this help me!?\"
Well, if you are killed, sorry... Die\'ing isn\'t supposed to help anyone, BUT your items that the person loots will be tagged and will not be able to be dropped except into bags that also will no be able to be dropped once a player looted item is placed into it.  Or put into a trade menu either.  EXCEPT for Crystals and for gold.  They can\'t sell the items to NPC\'s either.  They can use the item though to show that they have it.  When used it dies just like normal wear and tear, and any charges used are used for good of course.  S/He could pretty much use the item as if it were his/her\'s item.  Once the bounty is collected though, your items are either teleported DIRECTLY to your bank (If there is one) or to your pack.. YOUR choice, because it would bring up a menu informing you that the items were back.  All items would be brought back EXCEPT gold or Crystals...

This would allow PK\'s to show there place and even loot, but would give everyone a disadvantage along with an advantage.

MMORPG.... Lets take a looksie here at the description of MMORPG...
Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game....

ROLE-PLAYING: To act out, or to play a role; To use one\'s imagination to act as an animate or inanimate object, or living being while being compared to real life.

Well, if you are acting a role, then you must be compared to real life sooner or later.  Sorry people, but this is RPG, not Fantasy...  Its MMORPG, not MMOFG.  I know that there is very little difference, but the difference is that things can and will happen in real life that can\'t be prevented.  I agree with One of a kind items on the server, but I also know that sometimes there is corruption in the system.  I am hoping there isn\'t, but I have even seen corruption in public pay to play servers.  Servers such as OSI\'s Ultima Online, where a GM gave his real-life friend about 40 million gold pieces along with nearly 40 items that were renamed and recolored.  All of them made to be one of a kind and made to make this guy totally rich...  Of course the GM got fired from OSI and the guy\'s account banned, but the guy had all the money and items transfered to a new account that no one knew about, and he made Thousands of real life US Dollars off of the hit.  Just because he sold it all on Ebay and the such.

My point is though, that if we take out stealing, then we are taking out something that happens in real life, and mostly any other roleplaying game.... Whats the use of a thief then?  There isn\'t one... Well now you tell me, YEA there is... You have good advantages in the dark under the shadows and with a small blade...

Well... Sorry thats not a thief, but either a ninja, assassin, or thug.  Yea it COULD be RP\'ed as a thief, if you stepped out and were like... \"Give me your money now, or I will slit your throat!\", but that more goes under the THUG category.  Thieves are meant to steal with stealth. Not mug like a Thug.

I personally have never heard of a Rapid.dll...  Do you know what program uses rapid.dll?  I believe its a rapid reviewer program, but the basic Windows XP rapid reviewer is Kernal32

See your problem here is (if I have read correctly) is that you have used up alot of your hard drive space.  I have a few gigs of space and a shit ass VCard and it barely lags at all... Also your have drive may not has a very high speed (Yes, they can have speeds), that and Just because you have NVidia doesn\'t mean that you have top of the line.  NVidia is a corporation, they make 16-256 meg VCards... What spec is your VCard?  That and your cable may be more based on u/l and not d/l...  There are so many things that can attribute to lag... If you REALLY want a game not to lag, and you have a good video card... If you are truly enough interested in the game, and you don\'t have much hard drive space left... FORMAT!  Trust me, formatting is beyond worth it... I went from nearly 10-20 minutes for my computer taking to startup after I logged into my user, to almost 30 seconds for it to load up...  Trust me, everything attributes to this.

Actually I believe I saw this problem myself...  Did you copy and paste the file to your desktop?  If so, then it needs the files ON the desktop too..  What you do is create a shortcut, not a copied file... That way it can redirect itself to its own root directory instead of trying to open from the desktop.

Hey, I am just going to really say... Erec, the reason you start out badly is probably because your internet connection... If you EVER notice with most Dial-up servers, when you first start out a download or an upload, it bursts forward with all the speed it can handle, then get worse and worse from there, and by the end, you wish you had never messed with it in the first place.

As for Footpunker, there could be a few things wrong in your download, psclient.cfg...  And many other things... Whats your internet connection?  When you connect to the server, does it actually get to the loading screen?  If so, is it froozen or does it actually CRASH?  What operating System are you running in?  We need system specs out the darn yin yang for anyone to help you out correctly.  Thanks, but once you post that, I will probably see what I can do... But answer these questions first. You may have already said them, but I may have over looked them.

Questions:
What OS (Operating System) are you running on?

Have you tampered you psclient.cfg, planeshift.cfg, sfc.cfg, or anything other configuration file or exe file such as pssetup.exe?

What is your internet connection?

Have you downloaded PS from someone who has tampered the files stated above or any other configuration files?
