Started this model a long time ago, so I decided to texture the thing.

I posted it up on Laanx.  Let me know what you think.

@Jedi: Thanks. I may model the armor sometime, but not soon.

@Kintall: Glad you like it. I added my homepage to my profile, so you can click the www button on my post, which will take you to my website, that does not have any sketches on it, but you can get to my old site from there, and there are a few sketches there. Not much though. :)

Thanks all,
I\'m waiting on my wacom that should be here in a couple of days to finish texturing this.

Skizzik: No, not finished yet.

Jedi: Thanks! I\'ll probably leave the handle, as it will take more polys if I change it, and this is the way the concept looks.

Gumster: I\'m not sure if what you\'re asking. Thumbsup?

Here\'s the badly photoshop darkened scan of my sketch from long ago. (scanned/darkened long ago as well).

@Ikarsik: If you\'re asking what app I use to model, I use 3dsMax5.1. ALthough I\'ve also dabbled with wings3d lately, and It\'s got some nice intuitive features.

@RussianVodka: No problem, Axe Man. I\'ll probably hold off on making more weapons right now, as I read somewhere that there\'s quite an overload of weapon models. Unless that\'s not the case. There\'s probably more need for interior props ay?

@whemyfield: Thanks! I have to ask you; Where Did you get that sig? That\'s the most wacky, awesome sig I\'ve ever seen. It looks like it\'s a 3d animation to me. Is it?

@Scobar: Yeah, I might end up doing it with just the texture, but for now, I\'m under 100 polys, and it\'s such a simple weapon, that it can use the extra detail I think.

@Icefalcon: Thanks! It does take some time to get the hang of, I\'ll tell you that.

Does anyone know how I can find out exactly what the requirements are for this game; Re: Mesh intersections, continuity?

Fan Art / Weapon: Simple Halberd

I\'m sort of on a weapon kick now, and I churned this one out. I\'ll probable model a few more Halberds that are more elaborate.

Not textured yet, I think I\'ll wait untill I know for sure what the engine needs to have. Right now there Are mesh intersections.

@Sashok20: Thanks.

I\'ve gotten a bit ahead of myself, I still need to go back and redo some UV\'s but anyway, here\'s a quick(and quite unfinished) texture test. Lemme know what you think.

@Wedge: Really? I havn\'t played the game yet, I still have to download the install files. If It\'s two pieces, is it the handle and the head? Do they intersect then as well?

I sure would like to be able to hear from someone on the dev team on this.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks all.

@Thardin: I use 3dsMax 5.1

@Mogura: No, I have not submitted it to LWW yet. I figured I\'d see what response I got here first, and then maybe texture it too.

Does anyone know who might be able to answer the questions I asked in my first post?

Also, On LWW, are the meshes that I can view on the site already accepted into the game? or are they just submissions pending?

Thanks again.

Fan Art / Weapon: Sword

Ok, here\'s a sword I\'ve modeled after a concept piece I did a long time ago. . .

I plan on textureing this eventually, but if I get a good responce here, I may get on it sooner. It has a few more faces than I\'d like, but due to the fact that this engine apperantly can\'t deal with intersecting faces, I\'ve had to add some here and there to maintain the look I wanted.

Does anyone know if the mesh has to be completely closed and continuous as well? Does the engine have problems with faces close to each other, but not touching?

Thanks for the reply, Scobar. Looks like that will help.

One thing I\'m not understanding, being new to this whole thing, is how LWW is connected with PlaneShift.
Maybe I need to go read something, but am not sure where to start.

Is LWW the dev team? Are all those meshes on there going to be in game? Or is it a seperate group?

What exactly is LWW and CS?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replys.

*edit* Ok, so read the \"ABOUT\" header on the LWW Page you dummy! Doh! Ok, so I got what LWW is, but what Is CS? The

Fan Art / Target Polycount on weapons?
« on: March 10, 2004, 12:54:56 am »
Hi, my first post here, and I\'d like to model some weapons that might have a chance to get in game if they\'re good enough. If not, that\'s not the main reason I\'m modeling, but I always like to aim for whatever polycount the dev team is interested in.

Is this the correct place for this? Or would I be better off posting somewhere else?

Thanks all.
