a more detailed explanation of

\"five mana per meter per second\";

this mean for every meter you go, you pay five mana every seocond. so if you hovered for  10 seconds at 2 meters you wout cost one hundred mana (5*2*10)
this was ment to be an expensive spell, otherwise it would give an unfair advantage.i really intended it to be used more for showing off, or for b oosting yourself up a cliff wall or somehing, not prolonged flight

ive had yet another idea!

Ive been trying to think of a spell that could be applyed to many situations, rather than just one, and here it is!;

\"solar aura\"
player uses #mana to cast the spell.
spall has a radius of # in feet. all players in radius recieve #mana, but suffer 1/2#hp damage
caster gets a +20 charisma bonus, +10 will bonus until the conclusion of combat
all players in range of effect get a +20 will bonus until conclusion of combat
for each player in range, caster looses #mana per  in addition to the #mana used to cast the spell.
if player runs out of mana, hp is then used to make up the diffrence. if the player dies, the spell and all its effects cease to exist, and are replaced by -20 will penalty for all in range of casting.

rloeplay description of the casting;
\"at a silent incantation, athismus shone like the crystal itself. his mana tore from his body and lanced into his followers. they fought with the energy of the crystal at their side, and tore through the enemy with renewed hope of victory. athismus himself shrank back to the rear of the battle, where his shining aura was stil seen. he seemed unable to continue the fight, but his sheer impresivness fought for him.\"

I have another idea on death;

First, it should be possible to avoid death, but at a very high price,  I mena like the rincarnation Ankh in warcraft 3.
Maby you could go to a temple and buy pre-emptive reincarnation from the preist, which would trigger instantly when you died and respawned you at the altar of the temple in which you acuired it.
The altar in any temple would become the respawn point for a sector.

Developing on the afterlife idea, but including penalties as well;

When you die, you become a wraith. no one can see you, you drop all items, clothing, weapons, everything corpoal, which you attacker can simply claim as his own, or your teammates can pick up for you.
In this wrait form, you move about the world as usual, but you cant interact in any way with anything. you can\'t move anywhere you couldn\'t normally (walkign through walls would almost encourage you to die!)
you can\'t open doors. to pass through a doorway, you would need to wait for someone to open it for you.
The ideea is, in this wraith form, you make your way slowly back to the temple in the sector. once in the temple, you become visible and can communicate with other players, but still cant interact with anything. your job is to persuade the NPC preist in the temple to reincarnate you, which he would do at the altar.

This is a simple and serverspace eficient afterlife. And i think loosing all clothing items and weapons to the victor of findor is enough of a punishment. it would also give players in a PvP situation the chance to retreive the spoils of battle.

please tell me what you think.

I just had another idea for not just a spell, but a fundimental part of magig casting;

\"link\"
casting link on a player causes both caster and target to have an amount of mana equal to the sum of both caster and target\'s mana. The mana is said to be \"pooled\", but a spell cast by either while they are linked drains its mana from both linked players, regardless of who cast the spell.

\"unlink\"
requires an amount of mana equal to the pooled mana present in the linked relationship you are trying to break down. causes the link between the target and any other players to break, distributing the remaining mana from the pool equaly among the previously linked players.

These spells counld be a way to stop individuals from gaining too much magical power. The biggest and most powerfull spells could cost 300 or 400 mana, making them impossible for one caster alone to manage. This would mean teams of casters would need to work together to cast them. This is a kind of \"social\" magic
In addition, you could link casters with non-magic users, meaning a swordsman\'s mana would not go to waste.
This could also be a form of magical arms race between guilds. each guild has to link up its mages faster than the other in order to cast a devastating spell before them, or to unlink them.
This could ba one of the starter spells, along with a magic missile and one themed spell, that all casters would get.

please tell me what you think.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /

I ahve a very rare graphics card, so i have a bug unlikley to have been reported. well here goes:

WHen i run the client in opengl mode, it hangs frequently, turning the screen black and somtimes reebooting my comp.
This happens less frequently when i reduce the colour depth, and usualy happens when i face the spawn point for twenty or so meters away.

I have a AMD Athlon 2000 Pc with 752mb of ram, and a geforce fx 5600 video card with 256mb of ram. my verison of the client is up to date.

This may be due to the age fo my harddrive, but it only happns in planeshift.

so, there you go...

Wish list / Azure way spells

Some Ideas for Azure way spells i\'ve come up with:

\"Invisibility\"
Makes Player invisible at a cost of 10 mana/sec

\"Illusion\"
Creates illusionary copy of player for 30 mana
Copy will move and gesture exactly as player does

\"Pressure Wave\"
Creates area of high pressure between target and player, delfecting all ranged weapons from both and moving the target 20 meters away from the player

\"Flight\"
Allows player to levitate at a cost of 5 mana per meter per second

\"vacume\"
Causes anything within area of target to suffer 15 hp damage per second

\"Eagle form\"
Transforms player into an eagle for 80 mana.
Player has \"flight\" ability passivley, but cannot interact with anything. player may revert to Player form for a further 30 mana (this means he has to stay as an eagle for the time it takes to regenerate 10 mana)

\"featherlight\"
Grants the player +20 agility and quaters his/her physical weight for five mana per second

\"translate\"
Moves the player by specifyed X Y Z distance
drains all mana regardless of modifyers
If player specifyes coordinates that places him/her within a solid object, player dies instantly and his body is returned to original coordinates.

---------

Hope you find these helpfull and not too obvious,
comments and additional ideas please!
